Miles of wild beach to walk mostly without seeing another person. Beautiful accommodation with everything you need and more. Lovely grounds. Pet friendly. As comfortable as home but with stunning views. Can’t wait to come back.

Driftwood Country Cottages is a beautiful group of cottages right on the water near the North Cape of PEI. The scenery was outstanding, and the cottage itself was very pretty and roomy. We had a beautiful view of the water and the sunrise each morning and we were able to walk on the red sand beach as far as we wanted to go. There was a lovely TV and second sitting area on the second floor as well as the third bedroom with a whirlpool tub. The kitchen living area on the first floor was very roomy and nicely set up, as were the two other bedrooms and second bath.
It was a little difficult getting the owners to confirm the reservations in writing so when we arrived we were unsure about what to expect. We found the cottageseasily, but there was no obvious "office" and no one to greet us. We actually began knocking on cottage doors to try to find someone who would take care of us and show us which cottage was ours. We finally found a woman feeding her baby, who turned out to be the owner's daughter. She was able to access the log book and find our name and point us to the right cottage, but we were a little taken back by so little help. She said her mother would be by to check on us, but we were there two days and never saw a soul. We made a call and it was not returned and there were no instructions in the cottage for us to follow. We were also short on blankets because of the cold weather that had set in, but no one to help us. The other problem we encounter was lack of luggage racks or anything to put luggage on.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and would return again. But staying there is not for the faint of heart. You have to be willing to be independent.

I wanted to surprise family for Christmas and got up to Tignish too late in the evening. So I needed a place to stay for the night to surprise the family the next day. All it took was one phone call and they set me up at their best cottage! It was beautiful, spotless, and cozy. I had everything I needed and then some. And I never saw anyone....just left my payment on the kitchen table when I left the next day.

I would highly recommend this location. As a matter of fact, I'm hoping to go back for a stay in the Summer. I have so many relatives on the Island, it would be nice to just rent a cottage, stay put and let everyone come to me for a visit. lol

Lots of room for family reunions, that's for sure and the beach is right there too!

What an amazing time we had at Driftwood Cottages! The property is on the ocean's edge and has wonderful views. We got up early just to see the sunrise over the water each morning. The beach is quiet, peaceful, and secluded. This is the perfect place to relax. The cottage was modern, very clean, and had a well supplied kitchen. The owners are very friendly, and will assist with any issues you may have. The owners are available for anything you need, but give you complete privacy to enjoy your vacation independently. There is no daily maid service, but we welcomed that because it gave our family privacy to enjoy our stay as if we were living at home. I am looking forward to returning to Tignish as often as I can, and this cottage is where I want to stay each time! Rates are competitive for the area and they offer off-season deals.

The location of this cottage was great, you could see and hear the ocean from the front deck and it was only a short walk down to the water's edge. The beach, though peaceful and scenic was not for swimming and although the cottage mentions driftwood in the name there was very little driftwood to be found, disappointing for group of people who had hoped to build a small fire on the beach to roast marshmallows. The cottage is clean and offers satellite tv and wifi, though the satellite reception is easily lost in bad weather and the wifi is very slow. We had hoped to bbq some steak for dinner one evening but found that our cottage had no bbq. The cottage next to ours had a bbq but with no propane tank. The owners/ employees were very friendly, they came by twice to make sure we were settled in. Upon check in we soon discovered that there was no "Office" in which to do so, so we just let ourselves in, then we discovered that we had been upgraded to the cottage next door, so we had to move all of our belongings after we had just unpacked and settled in. The "office" by the way is the red building set back in the woods behind the cottages. The cottage is located just 10 minutes away from the North Cape lighthouse, wind energy interpretation centre, and the black marsh trail and the ride there was very beautiful as it followed the coastline. Overall a good experience.

Thank you for taking the time to review us, and glad you enjoyed the area! Hopefully next time, the tide will supply you with plenty of driftwood for your camp fires. If not, give us a holler, and we can help you out, or find you a nice dry bundle of kindling. No one should go without roasting marshmallows! We are working on our wireless, and hope that it will be stronger this coming spring and summer to better serve our visitors. We appreciate you letting us know, and hope to see you again.

We are frequent visitors to Driftwood. We love the beach and we walk for miles with our dogs (and it's all about the dogs of course). The cottages are so comfortable ... Everything you need. We love the fact we can come and go. Almost like the cottage belongs to us just waiting for is the arrive with the door unlocked and the lights on welcoming. Any time we've needed some help Anne or Joe is right there. Ps upgraded wifi is great!

We rented a 2 bedroom cottage and the property itself was lovely. Right on the ocean, beautiful views, great walks on an empty beach. The cottage was nicely laid out, bright but we had problems immediately on arrival. We couldn't find any sort of office- eventually asked one of the other guests who sent us up the lane. No one there was particularly interested in getting us settled- they just told us the number & said the key would be on the table with instructions. There were no instructions about anything! The couch in the living room couldn't be sat on- it was a broken hideabed with no springs. You sank right down to the mattress underneath which was on the floor- not good for older people like us! There were no towel racks in the bathroom, no mirrors in the bedrooms. There was a leak under the sink which we found & cleaned up- if we hadn't it would have dripped onto the hardwood floors- but when we eventually saw the owner on our last day, she seemed unconcerned & we had to drag her in to even look at the water damage. The TV wasn't working and neither was the broiler on the stove. The power went out right at dinner time our first day- our fellas dragged down an old BBQ but it also was broken & not safe. Apparently they had a stash of new BBQ's but they were all still in boxes in their basement- they never did appear. It seems that this owner is more interested in collecting the rent than in looking after guests- too bad because the property is lovely.

Thank you for leaving this review; we apologise for not having seen it previously- we've just recently learned what a wonderful resource Tripadvisor is, and how to use it. The items that you mentioned have since been attended to, and we are very sorry you encountered those troubles. We now carry a cell 24/7 when we are not on the property, and contact info is left in each cottage. Any issues will be dealt with right away! We hope you visit the island again, we would love to have you back :)

This place was beautiful the cottage was clean and the beach is a very short walking distance with beautiful views. The atmosphere was relaxing with the sound of the waves. The owners were fantastic people. Highly recommendable. The only thing I wish is that the cottage had a fire pit.
