Some Island Houses can sleep up to eight people. These Island Houses feature a living room, dining area, music/sun room, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room with washer and dryer, two story screened lanai (with 2 sets of 10 foot sliding doors that open to the lanai which allows you to enjoy the indoor/outdoor feeling) that overlooks the cove and offers additional seating and dining area, two bedrooms each with their own private bath, walk in closet, and balconies which overlook the pool and cove to enjoy.

Barefoot Lagoon Island was everything shown on its web site and more. The house was very well decorated and very comfortable. THe area was the best on Grand Cayman. We had our own pool and then right out the front door was the famous "Rum Point Beach. The amenities offer like the use of the kayak, snorkeling equipment, bicycles and safety equipment for the kids were more than we expected. It saved us alot of money not having to buy them. THe location in Cayman Kai, Rum Point is by far the best location of the Island but there is still so much to do. Great resturants. Will we be back.

My wife, two kids and I had a wonderful 2 week vacation!
The location of the Island Houses was just what we were looking for. It is far from the buzz of the big resorts, quiet, clean and comfortable.
The home had all the amenities we like. Open screened in porch is wonderful and lots of fresh breezes keep the home livable. Bedrooms are air conditioned, so that was comfortable for sleeping.
The saline pool was fantastic. No chlorine makes for a soft skin swim! Good size, lots of chairs.
Right across the road were the conveniences of a resort with boat rental, dive shop and adventure trips. I scuba dived and the family went snorkelling every day, multiple times a day, right from the shore! Lots of fish to see. Barracuda and rays right under the dock!
Property manager provided all the information necessary prior to departure from home. Instructions and driving directions and shopping tips were very helpful! Great service.
I would go back any day!

We stayed two weeks at Kai Kotch #17 and were very pleased. The house was redecorated before we arrived and was everything promised and more! By the third day we were calling it home-it had everything we needed. They include four kayaks and a pedal boat, snorkeling gear, beach towels, free calls to the US, the list goes on and on. The complex has a pool, a boat dock, and adequate night lighting.
The location is wonderful-perfect for people wanting to get away from it all, yet a walk across the yard and across one street and you have access to water sports, food, and beaches. The cove is really special. They have kayak tours to the area to see the bioluminescense that you can see every night (given the right conditions) and the kayaks included with the house. It was truly a unforgettable experience. It felt good to be amazed again!
The owners are easy to work with, respond quickly, and are very helpful. Starting with their personal web site which has a wealth of information and extending through our stay, we were given information on the entire island. As all the houses are separately owned their timely responses and web site really sold us. Had a wonderful stay and absolutely recommend this area and their house in particular.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at the Island Houses in November 2012 and equally enjoyed our week in February 2013. We plan on returning next year and many years thereafter! The easiest way to book is through Cayman Kai Vacations online as they are veryhelpful and provide assistance when needed.
Location: The Island Houses are located in Cayman Kai, across from Rum Point Beach on the north shore of Grand Cayman. The 45 minute drive from the airport takes you away from the busy Seven Mile Beach area and provides an excellent location for a relaxing vacation. Especially suitable for two couples or a family of four, the Island Houses are situated, in a semi circle, directly on a sand-rimmed, palm-lined cove, perfect for kayaking with easy access to the ocean (a 5 minute paddle). Steps away, out the front door, is Rum Point Beach (directly across the street). This beautiful beach, featuring the famous dock, provides a wonderful spot to swim, snorkel and go for long walks. You can also head off from here for a visit to Stingray City and Sandbar - a must do activity for any trip to Grand Cayman. A number of other excursions, such as the sunset cruise, are also available.
Accommodation: Each of the 18 "Island Houses of Cayman Kai" is a privately owned villa. They are decorated according to the individual owners' tastes, so the best advice is to review them online and find the one best suited to your liking. Each "Island House" is a two story, two bedroom, three bathroom (two are ensuite) home complete with fully appointed kitchen, living and dining room and a large two-story lanai (screened-in porch). This is where you will want to spend your time when indoors - it is a wonderful space. A number of the "Island Houses" have kayaks for their guests to enjoy (some also have bicycles). Snorkel equipment is available to purchase or rent across the street at Rum Point (we chose to bring our own). There is a lovely pool, with a great view of the cove, for the exclusive use of "Island House" guests. We often found we had the pool all to ourselves.
Amenities: In addition to those already mentioned, the "Island Houses" come fully equipped, including bedding, beach towels, etc. Most evenings we opted to enjoy our surroundings and the BBQ at our villa but there are a couple of lovely restaurants in the neighbourhood (Kaibo is a good walk /short drive, another is directly across the street at Rum Point). Kaibo has both a fine dining retaurant (upstairs) and more casual fair on the beach (downstairs). Each Friday closest to the full moon Kaibo hosts a wonderful dinner on the beach (reservations a must). They also hold other Caribbean style evenings - be sure to check their calendar online.
Other tips: Be sure to rent a car by reserving ahead of time. Once accustomed to driving on the left, which takes no time at all, Grand Cayman is quite easy and safe to navigate and a wonderful island to explore. Although you may not want to leave Cayman Kai and Rum Point, there are many other fabulous beaches and sites to see. If you are into scuba or snorkeling Grand Cayman is spectacular! George Town is a great place to wander about and of course enjoy a drink on the wharf after some duty free shopping.
Getting there: As we are flying from Canada, our most direct and cost effective choices are Air Canada and West Jet. Both offer more than one flight a week in "high season".

Just got back from a Christmas break at Tranquility House (Island House #6) and wish we could have stayed longer. The condo and Rum Point location were perfect for our family with 2 teen boys. The condo gave everyone the space they needed and the location provided all the action we were looking for at Cayman. We loved the bikes and road to Starfish beach (saw lots of starfish), kayaked the bay during a new moon and were amazed at the bioluminescence (other people paid for something we had right outside our door!), snorkeled the areas around Rum Point (lots of fish - even under the pier), and walked across to Red Sail Sports for a 5 minute boat ride to Sting Ray sand bar. Cayman Kai Vacations (Mr. Wagner and Mitzi) made our trip easy and comfortable – Thanks!
Enjoyed the food at Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill, Over the Edge, and the Lighthouse Restaurant on the south side (loved their champagne mojito). Drove over to Georgetown one day for the submarine trip and ate at Guy Harvey’s Island Grill - loved the trip and the food was great but made me glad we were staying at Rum Point. Rum Point is more relaxed and less crowded which worked much better for our family. I recommend a trip to the Botanic garden. We saw several rare blue iguanas and the flowers were beautiful. Also, saw 2 green parrots flying around the parking lot. Unfortunately, the only rude person we met on the entire island was at the gardens but they were one of the guides that bring groups to the garden (not associated with the Botanic garden). He apparently thought his group took priority over the “regular” garden visitors.

We were in Starboard Kai #4. It had just been remodeled and everything was beautiful and of the highest quality. The condo was stocked with soap, dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent, which is not always the case when one rents a vacation condo. There are also bikes and kayaks to use. The beach is just steps away from the front door, and the screened porch in back, facing the cove, is a great place to relax. The pool is private and never crowded. Bob and Mitzie, the managers of the rentals, were so helpful and easy to work with. We thought we might have to stay an extra night because of a snow storm back home, and they worked to find a spot for us in another condo. Walter and the other guys at Red Sail sports were also super nice, helping us with the Stingray city tour, waverunner rental, and snorkel gear. This is a great place for a family vacation. You can alternate between eating out and cooking at home. There's wifi and cable for the kids. Plenty to do or just hang out and relax!

We staid in the Barefoot Lagoon Island house for two weeks. Great location and nicely appointed house. When the airconditioner broke in the kids room and they had to sleep in the living room, however, nobody was doing anything about it.We called the property managment company but nobody showed up. I suspect they did not have authority to replace it. In August, AC is important. Other than that it was everything it promised although pricier than identical units in the same complex. The island, we discovered, is slow in summer, offer less than anyone is asking for a booking as its likely you or empty for them.

My wife and I stayed 10 nights at Cayman Kai Condos, Phase II, B-17. Our two bedroom, 2 baths condo was very comfortably set-up. Everything we needed was provided; bedding, beach towels, a well set-up kitchen, telephone (free local, USA, Canada), two kayaks, dish soap, laundry soap, etc. The setting was beyond beautiful! We ate our meals at the balcony table that looked down on the infinity pool that blended into the palm tree lined sandy beach and yacht harbour. It made for a very pleasant setting to eat breakfast, and in the evening eating and sipping a glass of wine as the sun set. This is a great location for families with young children or teenagers who like to swim. The on-site property manage, Mitzie, was amazingly helpful, well beyond what I would think was in her job description. When we mentioned that we were going to walk the Mastic Trail, she made a "life saving" offer; "I'll drive with you to one end of the trail and then drive you to the other end." It took about 30 minutes of her time to do this, and saved us a long 2+ mile walk in the heat of the day.

If you are coming to Rum Point and looking for a place to stay, then Kai Time (#14) is the place to stay. It is truly wonderful. If you are deciding *whether* to come to Rum Point, read the bottom of the review.
We stayed in “Kai Time” (#14) for 10 days and it was amazing. The house is the best designed house we’ve ever stayed in, with a huge two storey screened-in lanai with a wall of disappearing glass doors that make the whole ground floor seem open to the outside. The lanai and balconies off the bedrooms offered beautiful views of the inlet. We loved the house’s beachy décor and the cute, beach-themed accents everywhere. The house was positioned to make it seem like we had the place to ourselves –our neighbours on both sides were out of view.
Amenities include 3 kayaks (2 single and a double) that were easily brought to the beach, snorkeling gear including flippers, a safe that held a 15” laptop, with a basket inside so you don’t lose your wallet and keys in the back, games, 2 bikes with helmets, DVD’s, free calls to the U.S. and Canada, free and fast wifi, ceiling fans in every room in the house along with A/C, washer, dryer, dishwasher, barbecue etc. etc.
The walk to Rum Point was about 2 minutes. The restaurant there had excellent fish and chips, cute pastel painted picnic tables, a beautiful pier with easy-access snorkeling, beautiful turquoise water and lots of chairs. It was a 3 minute drive to Kaibo Yacht Club and Starfish Point.
Our favourite activies were (in no order) the Kaibo Beach Barbecue, Starfish Point (an almost deserted beach just past the yacht club where the water is filled with starfish), the night-kayaking on the bioluminescent bay and Stingray City. We went to Seven Mile Beach but found the scene there too crowded for us.
If you are deciding whether to stay in Rum Point/Cayman Kai, here are a few pros and cons:
Pros: 1) the water is very calm, and divided into small bays, so the area is perfect for families with babies and toddlers. 2) There are beach activities for older kids and adults, like paddle-boarding, jetskiing off beach, snorkeling, diving excursions, etc. as well as the beach barbecue on Mondays (all these cost extra). 3) If you go to Starfish Point you have access to peace and quiet. In the Rum Point beach, there are party nights for people who are looking for something livelier.
Cons: 1) you have to rent a car (~$40 U.S./day for a Corolla once you add gov’t fees), and you have to drive on the "wrong" side about 40 mins to get to the house through multiple roundabouts and you have to go back when you need groceries. We found this very stressful. 2) The Rum Point beach is crowded with chairs shoe-horned in multiple rows. There is a good chance you will be right next to a group of people talking so loudly you will not be able to hear yourself think. If you arrive by 9:30am you have your pick of chairs, but cannot pick your neighbours. 3) the beaches here do not compare in beauty to the long stretches of white sand beach you find in Grace Bay or Negril or the beaches of Cuba. The turquoise water is gorgeous, but the beaches themselves on the east end are very short (200 yards?) so you can’t go for beach walks.
