They treated us well. They have a great crew working there. The people that complain would complain no matter what so take that with a grain of salt. It's a nice place, not perfect but a nice place. Many activities, hobby crafts and plenty of options for exercise.

First let me say the park is lovely. We had booked and were arriving April 16 which we were told is off season. No problem. We called the resort on the day..the phone says you must be here by sunset. However that's incorrect. You must be here by 3. I understood since it was just changing over to off season things need a day or two to iron out.
We were shown to our site and told to check in at the office the next day.
We were given a package..typical of RV parks, map of park, what is included.
We had to go back to get a modem for the cable tv. Would have been nice to have that in the package.
Also if your not a resident and have something delivered through Amazon.. They send it back.. Even if you have your site number. In April when it's at a low capacity.. They can't call you. It would take too much time.Apparently you have to register for mail when you check in.Again would have been nice to have been told at check in.
The disappointment is the gym and main building with pool tables, library is locked up at 3 pm and not open on weekends. It would have been nice to have been told this when we reserved.
At no point were we told the water was being shut off for a day. And as it turns out the next day. We only knew because a resident had told us. So no bathroom available at the pool area... We overheard at the pool that the next day it would be shut off again. I don't understand why they couldn't text us..or mention it when we were twice at the registration desk.. which again.. unknown to us thats how they inform people. I understand we are not residents yet we did pay to be here.
The full time residents at this park Are wonderful. Very welcoming and friendly.
It's not a five star because of the lack of communication from the front office people. That should be improved. Or just don't rent to short term people.

Just wrapped 4 months here and it was great. The negative is that they required you to wear masks while outdoors getting your mail. Additionally the employees refused to give us our mail even though it is outdoors, unless we masked up and agreed to their terms. They were behind plexiglass windows and they had masks but yet again refused to give us our mail. Arizona has NO mask mandates, but they refused to listen to the state or governor. Facility is clean, the maintains employees do a great job maintaining the property. But not sure we will return!

The park is beautiful, but beware. We are selling our place after many years. Actually, we are pulling our model out of the park because we were unable to sell even at a greatly reduced price. If you visit the park, there are about 20 others that have pulled their park models out as well. Pretty soon, this place will look like a ghost town. It didn't help that the "real estate" agents at the park didn't bother to market (other than internet listing that needed to be corrected) or even show our place. They passively waited to see what would happen but would have collected a real estate fee of about 10% if it had sold. I know they were showing the RV Parks new models. Rents and fees have tripled in the past 10 years. And watch for all of the hidden fees such as water and entertainment that are not included in the annual rent. We are being priced out and will go elsewhere in the area. Smart travelers will do their homework and visit other parks as well. This is such a disappointment. Our family and friends came to visit and rented for many years and loved this park. Last three years the park wouldn't let them rent in advance or guarantee them a place. The park wanted new renters only so they could potentially sell to them. We will go where we are ALL welcome and treated as valued guests. We are shaking the sand from our feet and moving on to a more guest friendly establishment. The over 55 crowd is more money savvy than you think.

We are very sorry to see you go! The home market can be a tricky business, which is why we have brought in more marketing personnel to help alleviate some of the tasks, such as listing homes, from the sales managers on the property. We hope that in time our growing marketing team can handle the marketing portion, and let the sales managers focus solely on sales, eliminating some of the issues you have mentioned.

This is long and drawn out but you must read every word and beware of this place. In Jan 2016 we called to make a reservation for 1 year at an Elite RV site. The reason we picked this type of sight was it included all the utilities except electric. This quote is directly off their web site. “Our Elite sites are a favorite with our RVer’s because they were built with you in mind. They are nicely landscaped with a Palm or Sissoo tree, patio table and seating and a large concrete 40 x 16 patio. Included in our rate is Cable and Internet just for your convenience along with water, sewer and trash. Our team will help you to your site and be available with any help that is needed to get you set up and ready to enjoy your stay.” So when we called, we were advised by a gentleman that they do not take reservations until March second for the 2016-2017 season. On March 2nd we called the exact minute they opened to get a good spot near the dog park for our 2 poodles. The same guy on the phone told me there were five people on the phone and he would call back in about 30 min. He took my name and number and never did call. I called 1.5 hours later and he informed me he had 5 people on the counter making reservations and that he would call me back, He never did, at 12:30 I called back and I told a lady no one called me back and again she said they were busy they would call back I informed her I was never called back from 9am call and I should get priority she said OK and promised to call me right back, well they never did at 5pm my wife called, and we got no answer. Frustrated, I told my wife we will call back tomorrow. The next day March 3rd we called back a very nice lady answered the phone and we told her our situation about the day before and she said she was the general manager and was sorry and she took our reservation for an Elite sight for 1 year, BUT it was 2 blocks from the dog park, I thought that’s great (sarcastically) and she also informed me people that were there last year get priority over sights. So we made them. On March 19th 2016 we drove to Arizona from Kentucky 1800 miles to drop off our car then fly back we stopped in to pay our bill and to square away our spot for 1 year prior to coming. The same guy found our reservation. He told us we owed them $4881.00, we said fine wrote them a check and left. A little later that evening I go to looking at the receipt and at the top it states 365 day reservation Elite sight, at the bottom the guy made the reservation for only 4 months. Monday morning we went back in there and I informed him he should have charged us $5982 which was the price for a premium sight for 1 year and he was very puzzled and kept saying his computer messed it up and to wait on the GM, she came in 5 min later and said the bill was correct and that we had to pay all of the utilities and I said NO the web site says all included. I even pulled it up on my phone and read it to her word for word. She informed me the district manager was coming in tomorrow and would straighten it out . I said I need an answer today and to call me back as we were flying out the next day and I needed to correct this problem before bringing my rig all the way across country and she said she would. We left very pissed off that a large facility like this can’t do a simple task making a reservation and getting paid in full on an Elite sight as stated on their web site, So we went and found another place which was much nicer larger spots and much cheaper AND friendlier. My wife called back and asked if they had processed our check and the same guy said no, so we said we are coming to get the check. He said we could not that it was already processed. We stopped payment on the check. Final : they made us feel they did not want us there and all the spots around the dog park were filled with Park Models anyway, seems they want to fill the facility with park models and get rid of RV’s. Oh by the way the dog run for small dogs is only 12 X 12

You were certainly faced with some challenges in confirming and paying for your reservation. We can only offer our most sincere apology for all that you went through. The previous managers were there for over 25 years and did a stellar job of caring for our guests as well as the facilities. With their well-deserved retirement this past year new management was put in place. That being said, this is not how we want to do business, nor is this how we want you to remember your time at Gold Canyon RV & Golf Resort. We would really like the opportunity to present a much better and enjoyable experience to you. We believe our guests, residents and staff are some of the finest people you could ever meet. Please contact our front office to speak with Cherie about booking a visit the next time you are in town. We look forward to getting to know you.

We had stayed here for 3 nights in April 2016 and had a truly wonderful experience. BUT when we returned for 11 nights in late May 2016, different story. There are many parks to choose from in the Phoenix area, but we liked this place for all the amenities. The fitness room is large and well equipped, there are many pool tables, a large pool, and outdoor shuffle ball, tennis courts, laundry, sauna, steam room, golf course etc. Sounds great, but if the building that houses the indoor amenities is locked at 4 pm week days and completely closed on week ends, that's a problem! We were not informed of said closures when we made our reservation, or when we checked in. Surprise!! When I went to the GM at the park and asked for a discount due to unavailable amenities...no dice. We DON'T give discounts. She did give me the number for Sean at their parent company, but he saw fit not to take or return my call.

Bottom line? Ask what amenities are available and when, because if you arrive on a week end in the summer good luck getting past the gate.

First, thank you for your kind words about our amenities and experience staying at our Resort. That is what we strive for every day. Obviously, your return trip in May 2016 was not as enjoyable. For that we apologize. Please understand our business is very much a seasonal business. By May 1 annually, our Resort is at 20% capacity or less. As the temperatures heat up people choose to head to cooler climates. Staffing and availability is adjusted as a result. We are not making excuses, but just giving our perspective. You make some very good points in your post, and we agree there are several opportunities for us to improve our service and communications with guests. Perhaps a review of the hours our staff is on duty and a survey of our residents and guests for their preferences would provide some insight into areas we can improve. And when those hours differ from the web site we need to do a much better job informing guests when they are checking in. We encourage you to come back. We would love an opportunity to serve you again. Please contact Cherie in our front office to book your next visit.

This is the best RV & Golf resort in the Southwest! The best part of this new life is meeting so many friendly people and becoming a part of all of the fun activities. The resort is a combination of RV's and park models with folks from all over the United States and Canada. We moved here in June after selling our home and are enjoying the RV life! Folks come for overnight, a few nights or months, or for the entire season. The resort has many activities to choose from, as well as a great golf course! We enjoy bringing our favorite adult beverage and snacks and watching the magnificent sunsets, while listening to the entertainment. Did I mention they have pickle ball and golf leagues, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and more? Not to mention the woodworking shop, sewing room, silversmith and lapidary rooms! RV sites are spread throughout the park with an area specific for folks with pets. Cable TV is on your site and there is free wifi in the clubhouse and the computer lab (with printer). Hope you enjoy this wonderful resort as much as we have.

We came with the idea of staying a couple of months last winter and stayed for 4 1/2 months! Diana and team are very good and we enjoyed the area immensely. A rural location with access to biking, hiking, golf, and more. Park has been working hard at replacing older infrastructure and upgrading wifi service. We look forward to returning this winter!
