Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The Sintra Boutique Hotel is charming and centrally located, the rooms are clean and cozy with some of the rooms having views of the Palacio Nacional de Sintra. We had the option of eating our breakfast either in our room or the restaurant área. The portions were plentiful, no going hungry here. The staff is fantastic, with many great recommendations for restaurants as well as tips on getting around.
Across from the Hotel and around the corner is where the buses stop for the ride up to the Castle of the Moors and Pena Palace. Or if you go up the street there is an area with many restaurants and steps going up to explore the town. A great location.
Getting there by car is easy and as you go along the road look out for a bright white building “The News Museum” in front of you. Go slow, the Hotel (in pink) will be on the left side before the News Museum building and there are parking spaces in front of the hotel. If for some reason there are cars there already, simply stop as close to the building as possible and unload your luggage, the staff will help you out with the car parking.
We would definitely stay here again. C & D

We stayed here for two nights to make our Sintra visit more than a day trip, and we are very glad we did. From start to finish, the hotel provided a level of service and professionalism that far exceeded its price range. The staff was exceptionally helpful, starting with parking assistance as soon as we arrived. Our room was all you would expect, breakfasts were excellent, and its location just a block from the city center was ideal. And should you want to take the #434 shuttle bus up to Pena Palace or Castelo dos Mouros, it picks you up and drops you off less than a minute away. We highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again should we return.

We drove, which made it a bit complicated to find the hotel and parking. Once we found it, one of the workers simply ran out to where we were temporarily parked and moved our car to where it needed to go. The hotel was just as accommodating and it was very nice with a great location. Breakfast was very nice with delicious mushrooms along with the ham/bacon, eggs, fruit, pastries and a very wide selection of cheeses. If you do decide to stay here with a car, ask them for explicit directions, or like us you may take an extra tour around the city.

Centrally located hotel, with a friendly and helpful staff. Room was fully stocked with robes, complementary still and flat water, and was clean, comfortable and updated. They provided menus for breakfast the next day which we were able to have in our room. It came promptly at the time requested and was fresh, generous (and the Pastel de Nata pastries were still warm!)
Would highly recommend a stay here is you are visiting Sintra!

We stayed at the Sintra Boutique Hotel for three nights, the last hotel of our three-week travel through Spain and Portugal. When we entered the room, we were overcome by a very strong cleaning smell, like Pine-sol. After we opened the window to air out the room, it was not as strong but still present. This was not a bad hotel, but I would also not call it a luxurious one (I can only compare it to a Holiday Inn in the US). The positive was that the water bottles were refilled each day. The location was awesome, right in the center of town, walking distance to so many things. The room was quiet even with buses stopping in front. The bathroom was recently updated but the shower pressure was very low. There was a mini fridge and hairdryer but no iron (which we found was the case in most hotels there). The buffet breakfast was amazing, with special treats each day. The staff was also very nice and accommodating.

We just loved this little boutique hotel as the room we had came with a beautiful french window overlooking the twin spires of the National Palace. One could just sit there and gaze for hours. We visited in late May and the daylight there , especially in the morning was just breathtaking. Bed was very comfortable and room well lit. Loved the Escher inspired bathroom tiles. The room we paid for came with a buffet breakfast which was surprisingly elaborate. Definitely one of the highlights of the hotel as they featured an amazing display of sausages, salmon , cheeses and local pastries. I can’t say how pleased we were with the choice we made on this hotel. We hope to return one day in the future.

The highlight of the hotel is the staff, who were very friendly and helpful. The location is also perfect for staying in Sintra- right in the centre, a two minute walk to the National palace. However, I wouldn’t really describe this as a boutique hotel. The decor in the bedrooms was very outdated- shades of brown! With a carpet that looked like it was a from the 1970s… the room also had a musty smell. We left the window open the afternoon of our first day, and it smelt okay, but the following day it had come back. The bed was comfy and the room was clean, but it looked very tired. The armchair had a stain on it, and the furniture was chipped. The bathroom had clearly been done more recently, but the tiles had been damaged or not sealed properly, so that it looked dirty, and there were mug rings etc (although I think this was just stains, it wasn’t actually dirty. There was also a bit of mould by the shower. It was fine for a two night stay, but it wasn’t really what I was expecting when booking a ‘boutique hotel’.

In October 2020 I had a reservation at Sintra Boutique Hotel and cancelled because of Covid and they were very accommodating with no penalty. On 19 October 2021 we were in Sintra and stopped by the hotel to thank them for their kind treatment. Elisabete, at the front desk, was very helpful and even showed us the junior suite we had booked. One of the bonuses of this hotel is that they provide valet parking which is a huge bonus for a stay in Sintra with a car. The hotel, in the centre, of Sintra is only 300m from Sintra National Palace which is an excellent “home base” location to see the extraordinary sites of Sintra. Because of their superior service we definitely will stay at the Boutique Hotel next time we visit Sintra.

This hotel was perfect for our stay in central Sintra, and is located within a short walking distance to great restaurants, music, and quaint shopping. The rooms were spacious, well appointed, and very clean. A full Breakfast was included and provided a delicious selection of hot & cold items, local pastries, fresh fruits and friendly service. Highly recommend this hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Really lovely, cozy little hotel in the heart of Sintra. Clean and inviting. Despite our visit being in the middle of the COVID pandemic, the hotel was exceptionally clean and all appropriate precautions were taken. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and we took their recommendations on a number of restaurants which we found to have delicious food and great atmospheres. The hotel is right in the heart of Sintra and very convenient to restaurants and nightlife. We took a Tuk-Tuk up to beautiful Sintra castle. Great tour and amazing views. I am looking forward to staying at The Sintra Boutique Hotel again on my next visit to Portugal.
