We have just stayed at this hotel as a group of mid-twenty aged girls. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment which included a double bed made up of 2 singles and a sofa bed in the living room. The room was spacious with a large balcony area however it had dated interior and could do with a refresh. As a self catering apartment we had access to dishes, cutlery and basic utensils, however there are no condiments. There are a couple of small local supermarkets and convenience stores for items however we ate out everyday instead so cannot comment on the hob/oven/microwave etc or the accessibility of larger supermarkets.
Most local places were cash only which isn’t advertised so be sure to bring plenty for meals. The convenience store accepted card. The staff have all been lovely and helpful especially at reception when we didn’t check in until after midnight. Bob Batista at the reception was exceptionally helpful when we encountered an issue with our upstairs neighbour.
The pool area was clean with plenty of beds regardless of what time of day you went down. Pool towels can be hired from reception if you don’t bring your own. We brought water and drinks down from our room which didn’t appear to be an issue and was ideal as the prices in the bar were expensive in comparison to those on the strip. However only plastic is allowed by the pool.
This hotel is situated in a good location about 5 minutes walk to the strip and about 10 minutes drive to the old town. There is a small train which will take you to the old town and back frequently if you don’t decide to take a taxi however a taxi only cost us 7 euro.
Absolutely recommend Platinum Wine & Tapas restaurant only a 9 minute walk from this hotel

We visit this hotel almost every year as we love the location and the pool, we love it there and we are happy to keep visiting. We had some minor AC issues with our room and the receptionist couldn't do enough to help so we thank him for that. The staff are always very helpful here.
That said there are some points that we feel could make the stay better with minor tweeks.
Firstly, we usually go self catering as we prefer to eat out anyway but would consider all inclusive if the hotel had a buffet dining area on site but they ask guests to go to the hotel next door for use of the all inclusive services. I don't understand this as they have a fairly large dining area near the pool that is empty everyday, seems a complete waste when you have all inclusive guests.
Secondly, ball games in the pool should be banned or restricted to certain times. I don't want to sound miserable but all day everyday there were big groups of guys throwing balls in the pool and multiple times the balls would hit people sun bathing and the games would take up the entire shallow end of the pool preventing people swimming who don't like the deep end. I'm all for fun and games but not when it negatively affects other people who are trying to relax.
All in all we had a lovely week here and don't want the review to soumd too negative as we will return, thanks again to the staff for being so accomodating.

I want to start off in saying. I have no idea what the bad reviews are for. Okay yes some things are a little dated but they are all over it seems.
I found the staff amazing ! They had no hesitation to help myself, transport, getting WiFi for my phone as it wasn't working at all, storing items, helping with my toddler when they saw I was struggling etc. Because of staff we never lost anything other than the airport. They were brilliant!
The food was very standard but we still ate lots and enjoyed ! Would have rather have had an early breakfast start but that was okay still.
Our room, we were in block E and it was such a beautiful view of the beach! The cleaners were so lovely. They are everywhere so they helped with how to use the shower, they even saw my toddler dropped her toy and went down 2 flights to get without hesitation. Always cleaned, we were given towel only on the last day but we had some anyways. Nice warm showers and the room was nice and warm for the night. There are alot of steps but if you can find your lift, it's not too bad.
Entertainment was a little lacking but we had the most of it by making friends. We didn't go out as I soloed with a toddler and heard the strip was a little much but did go to the hangover bar where they also were so lovely, friendly and also nice and cheap! The little corner shop there tried to sell me fags for 8 euros when could get 4 euros etc so I didn't buy any there so may watch out there but otherwised, a lovely hotel etc. Pool was cold but if it was nicer weather it would have been great. Still had alot of people sunbathing. We at least dipped in with a few people. Loved that we could use the hot tub as I thought it may have been for people who paid or was in some people's rooms but was by the pool. The beach is literally a 3 min walk away even with a toddler.
We did go on trips and transfers were so knowledgeable, funny and fast. Always friendly when they saw us at the hotel. My phone even died and thankfully they gave me a number to make sure to get someone else to contact them. Was very smooth sailing.

Completely ruined our holiday after 18 months of waiting to go abroad, very disappointed.
When booking the hotel, I checked to make sure we had facilities such as an on-site restaurant, bar, gym and sauna. Upon visiting the website, it was clear that the gym and sauna would be closed due to Covid and myself and my partner agreed to book anyway. On the basis that all the other facilities would be open for use.
Upon arrival, it was clear that the restaurant, bar and coffee shop were all closed, upon further inspection, I noticed a sign on the door which stated that the restaurant was up for rent! I have attached a picture of the for rent sign! We based the booking on the facilities listed on the website, to not provide customers with the facilities promised is outrageous!
The room itself was outdated and clearly has not been maintained for some time for example: the outside lamp was broken, cracks in tiles, broken parasol holder. In the bathroom itself there was ants coming from the cracks in the tiles, this is evidenced by the photos I have attached. The hotel is in urgent need of maintenance, the handrail going into the pool is loose and this is very dangerous for anyone that holds onto the rail going into the pool. The hotel is simply not up to standard.

Stayed here for a long weekend nearly two years ago self catering. Room has everything thing that you need. We went back for 9days at the end of September all inclusive the only thing was it was at sister hotel next door 2minute walk so it wasn’t a problem . Food and drinks were good as were the staff ,room cleaned every day and new towels bed changed halfway through had entertainment a few night singer was brillant he had been on the voice at one time. Thanks to all the staff that worked hard hopefully be returning shortly . Also this is a great location 5 minutes to beach and less the 10 to strip but there’s loads of pubs and restaurants within a minute walk and a great supermarket

Rooms are basic but clean and ok for a short break. The rooms are large and have a kitchenette, living space with a small balcony. We were on the front of the hotel, and this is above a sports bar which is open until after 2am and is noisy. The hotel is near the strip and is noisy most of the time as people return to their accommodation; we hardly slept our entire holiday. This hotel only has an Asian /Sushi restaurant, and all meals and drinks are taken at the other Muthu hotel next door. This isn't far but it's frustrating when you are by the pool. Meals are taken at the side of the other hotel; away from the other hotel guests and we felt a bit second class. You can book dinner in other Muthu hotels in the resort; these may be a bit far for with anyone with mobility issues. We went to the Mexican, Sushi and Mediterranean. The Mediterranean was the best by far but personally we preferred eating out as the meals were rushed in these restaurants. The breakfast was fine, but the lunch was the same every day, burgers and soup. The bar closes at 10.30pm; most days they were packing away 10pm. This is far too early for a holiday resort. Praia Oura beach is wonderful and worth a visit; you even get served food and drinks on the beach. Prices in Portugal are very good; loved Portugal; just not this hotel and resort.,

My partner and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Mutha Oura Praia Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it! We were situated in a Deluxe Room with two single beds and a sofa bed. We had a small kitchen area which would allow us to prepare basic meals, but we ate out every night anyway, as there were many great places to eat near the location of the hotel. The Strip is a 10-minute walk from the Mutha Oura Praia and The Old Town is a 15-minute drive in a taxi or on a Tuk Tuk (something definitely worth experiencing!) The trips didn't cost a lot at all, so we went across to The Old Town three times during our stay.
The pool area at the hotel was also good as we were able to use a sun lounger each time we went down, even after 12noon, so this was a bonus as there were no mad rushes or fights for the beds on a morning!
The staff were also fabulous and made us feel very welcome and helped with any questions we had!
10/10 would recommend, can't wait to come back again next year! 🌞

Just returned home from a 3 night stay at the Muthu Oura Praia hotel. Having read some of the previous reviews I was a bit worried before we arrived, however there was nothing to worry about. We arrived at the hotel at around midday and was checked in straight away (even though check in was meant to be at 5pm), both of the rooms we had booked and been upgraded, so we had a one bedroom superior apartment and a 2 bedroom superior department. And both were amazing with double balcony’s overlooking the swimming pool. Yes the decor is a little outdated but the rooms weee spotlessly clean and had everything in them you could possibly need, including a fully equipped kitchen area. The beds were extremely comfortable. We didn’t make use of the pool area as we didn’t have enough time, but from what we could see it looked very clean and the surrounding area was well maintained. We spent a lot of time in the Hangover bar which is attached to the hotel and this was a great place for light snacks, drinks and entertainment. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I have no complaints at all about our stay and am looking to re-book for next year. The hotel is in a nice area with a well stocked supermarket next door and plenty of restaurants and bars around. If you want somewhere more lively then the main strip is a short 10-15 minute walk away. The beach is also beautiful. We spent one evening at the Old Town and that was lovely, just €7 in an Uber.

We have stayed here many times because the staff are friendly, welcoming polite and highly attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and they do all they can to make our stay perfect every time. The rooms are spacious, they are a bit dated decor wise, but are spotlessly clean and comfortable. The Aircon is good and the rooms have a large fridge, microwave and cooker. The public areas are spacious and cool and there are loads of seating areas around the foyer and the indoor fountain. The rooms have a free to use safe and ample shower gel/shampoo and loo roll are provided. The hotel has a beets reasonably priced supermarket right next door. Also a free parking area right outside. The hotel is at the top of a hill that you can walk down to the beach in about 10 minutes. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the strip. The hotel prices are very reasonable and with the great location, excellent staff and clean rooms it’s a perfect choice for us.

We’re just checking out and already writing our review which says a lot. I’ve read current reviews and it’s the same generic response which demonstrates their lack of either awareness or care.
The main downside is the complete absence of the advertised “air conditioning”. Whilst checking it I asked about it and the receptionist could not look me in the eye when she said they had air con.
Upon complaints they just shrugged shoulders as it’s what they hear each day and are beyond giving a toss.
We had a thermometer with us for the kids in case of illness and it blows a slow 20 degrees against a 34 degree heat so your room temp is a constant 27 degrees. Unbearable especially with kids waking up each night sweltering. The lack of sleep due to the discomfort made this holiday a disappointment. The rooms needs some simple updating e.g faded pictures on the wall due to the sun but I don’t mind any hotel room as long as they’re nice and cool. We visited a friend on a nearby hotel and nearly stayed over as their room was perfectly cool. If we booked because they advertised air con but it’s a lie.
In hindsight I’d cancel if I had known. Every guest we spoke with their main complaint was air on but the hotel DO NOT CARE and laugh saying “maybe it’s broken”.
Pros: Nice pool which the kids loved.
