INK Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection is a luxury lifestyle hotel where the traditional rules of hospitality are freely translated to the modern day, writing a contemporary story in INK. INK delivers a luxury lifestyle experience with a personal touch for your own story to be written. It all began in 1904 when the building which now houses the hotel became the base of the Dutch newspaper “De Tijd”. It was a place where stories were born, written and ultimately printed. This former use of the premises also explains the name of the hotel. Located at the heart of the city, this 4-star hotel is in an excellent location with major attractions within easy reach.

Excellent hotel, very well located in the main street of Amsterdam. The reception is professional and efficient. The room (deluxe) is spacious, quite and very clean. The furniture of the hotel is stylish and friendly. The breakfast is generous and of very high quality. If you look an hotel in the center of Amsterdam, just go for it.

Hotels in Amsterdam are not cheap, but this one is worth every penny (it is relatively reasonable actually). The location couldn’t be better, the rooms are super clean and well-designed, and they are eco-conscious, providing box waters in the room rather than plastic.

Besides that, I had a snafu in scheduling, and the staff was very understanding and flexible in correcting the situation. Very professional. They made the travel planning easy!

Having had a phenomenal stay at the Ink four years ago, we decided to come again and have just finished our Christmas 2019 getaway staying at the Ink once again.

We have had a fantastic stay as expected. The rooms are modern, comfortable and well maintained with all the amenities one could expect and indeed hope for.

Room Negative: we could not access the HDMI port on the tv to connect our laptop. Perhaps an extendable wall bracket?

The reception area is beautifully designed and encompasses modern finishes behind the traditional, period exterior. The restaurant/breakfast area is also lovely!

Negative: breakfast. Having been four years ago, I could have promised you this was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a European hotel. Sadly, the standard of breakfast did not live up to that of four years ago. Less variety, very limited hot vegetarian options (no veggie alternatives) and less fresh fruit (which was a highlight for me last time, together with hash browns!) One must be fair and say there was a lovely spread of pastries, cheese, meat, cereals and bread. Recommendations: bring back the hash browns and baked beans and provide veggie sausages!

The staff are all so helpful, thoughtful and approachable but regrettably we can’t remember all of their names. Annie checked us in and she is delightful!

For all possible visitors: note that all rooms are different due to the age of the building and local planning regulations. If your room isn’t what you were expecting (as per online photos) just ask if there is any other rooms available at your rate and they will be more than accommodating. This time round, we were given a room we weren’t expecting. We queried this and were shown another room which was exactly as we remembered it to be from four years ago. We were much happier (creatures of habit!!)

Overall we have had a wonderful stay. The bed was so comfortable and we couldn’t have slept better! If you’re looking for a beautiful, borderline luxurious, relaxing, romantic and welcoming stay, give the Ink your full attention! If we come back to Amsterdam, we will definitely be staying again! With love and thanks to the Ink team, until next time. Sammy and Katrina J xx

After searching high < hehe I said high ..
Amsterdam people cmonnnnn!!! After searching high and low for the perfect hotel to spend my 30th birthday ( I know I don’t look a day over 16 ... good genetics you see ! We picked this hotel, arrived via a Uber from the airport but the trams and trains are very close so
You definitely could
Easily get here by either of those transport links, first thing
You’ll
Notice taxis can’t park outside this hotel
Or this side
Of the street so if you ever need one go
Directly
Across the road and order one from there, I’m full of handy tips for you cheeky little beauties ! Check in was abit abrupt didn’t chance the ladies name all I’ll is she looked like Leanne from Coronation street ( look her up) she was abit as happy as a child finding out Christmas was cancelled , the other lady checking in others seemed very friendly tho, we was shocked to find that we was being charged an extra 50 euro straight away just incase we caused any damage or used any items
You had to
Pay for?! Behave your breakfasts cost nearly 20 euro per person I definitely shall not be using any items within the hotel anyway luckily
Our room
Was ready so up we went room 503 tv didn’t work so had to ring reception another abrupt person sent someone up who
Simply had no clue what to do and said someone else
Would come to fix it.... no one came
! Had to go back to reception to get the room changed , the hotel did leave a tiny bottle of bubbles on the bed that night which was a nice touch seens my birthday was the next day, if your ever hungry and can’t stand the prices they charge Uber eats can deliver the hotel, we got
A
Cheeky McDonald’s deliveried at 1
Am! There also is no privacy in the rooms at all so after you shower you have to
Come out and get dried and dressed in front of whomever is in the room, fair enough most couples have seen it all before but forgive if I don’t want my
Missus seeing me drying my ever so perky bottom ! Very poorly
Designed ! All
In all when we do come back to this
Beautiful buzzing city we’ll be staying else where

Dear Story writer nevileshelly, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It's nice that you chose our hotel to celebrate your 30th birthday. I am happy to read our team was able to surprise you with a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate. However, I am very sorry to learn that your stay has not met your expectations. Regarding your experience upon your arrival, I do apologize if the information provided during your welcome was not given correctly. Rest assured I have shared this with our Front of House manager, so all our guest receive a warm welcome with the correct information and explanations. I am surprised to read that your uber driver was unable to drop you off on our side of the street. When travelling to our hotel by car, taxi or uber it is possible to park at the drop off point in front of our hotel. Please be informed that our hotel has different options for breakfast. Should you wish not to have the buffet breakfast, there is also an a la carte option available. I am sorry to read about your experience with the tv in your room, as this should not have happened. I am glad to read that our team was able to move you to a room where the tv was working and you could be more comfortable. Indeed our rooms offer an open layout, as we chose for a design in order to give a more spacious feeling in the room. We do have a few rooms with a closed bathroom. These rooms can be booked upon request and availability. Nevileshelly, we do hope that you give us another chance and choose to revisit us, so we can turn your next story into an INKredible one. Best regards, Jolanda Sadni Ziane - General Manager

This hotel left us with exceptionally mixed feelings. It satisfied all main functions well: the room was nice enough, quite quiet too, the housekeeping kept the room very clean, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure at the shower on the higher floor was untypically good, the location is great and, for most times, the personnel was friendly.

At the same time, our time in the hotel was full of small frustrations and we felt that the hotel was highly overpriced. First, the room was quite warm (around 24 degrees Celcius). It has airconditioning, but this wasn't only insufficient (I never got the answer to whether the cooling was off altogether), but it also began to keep tapping noise in the middle of the night. The website advertises that the rooms have minifridges. This is not really correct. When I mentioned to the staff that it only goes to 19.5 degrees Celcius, I got the answer that it is more of a minibar, not a minifridge. But even that is ridiculous because minibars are usually cold (what's the use for a minibar that keeps drinks almost as warm as the room temperature?). The room comes with the Nescafe coffee maker. Unfortunately, our housekeeping kept replacing our used coffee capsules with decaffeinated pods — not our favorite thing in the mornings. The housekeeping had some other lapses, too, such as taking our used towels one day but not replacing them and leaving their keys to our room behind (twice). There were some other reasons too, why we will choose another hotel for our next trip to Amsterdam, but one thing some travelers might want to know is that the hotel gym is small and has only a few cardio machines (a bit broken cross-trainer, stationary bike, rowing machine, no treadmill for running/walking) and a few weights. Obviously, if one has no use for the gym and minifridge, doesn't drink coffee at the hotel room, and so on, the hotel could be quite a good choice.

Dear Story writer Advisor10, Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience at INK. I am happy to read that you experienced our team as friendly and your room as nice and clean, your bed as comfortable and the shower with water pressure to your satisfaction. However, I am sorry to learn that your stay has not met your expectations, and that therefor, you would prefer not to revisit us. Please do allow me to elaborate on the air conditioning in your room. The temperature control system in our hotel is linked to the outside temperature of the air. This means that the system will cool when the outside temperature is above 18 degrees Celsius and will heat when the outside temperature is below 18 degrees Celsius. As the temperature was below 18 degrees Celsius during your stay with us, indeed the air system will not cool the room, as per your preference. Please be advised that, should you prefer to keep our windows closed, we do have fans available upon request. I do apologize if this has not been explained to you correctly during your stay with us. Regarding your feedback on the minibar, indeed this is a mini bar fridge and not an actual refrigerator. The fridge will keep your items cool, but is not meant to be used as a standard refrigerator. Should you need to store items that need to be kept in a refrigerator, our Reception team is able to assist you with the possibilities. Indeed, we do have a small gym. We have opted to be able to provide our guests with some options, rather than not having a gym at all. Our gym is equipped wit a cross trainer, a rowing machine, 2 bikes, several weights and yoga-mats. The reason we do no not have a treadmill is due to the height safety restrictions of our ceiling. Should you wish to go for a run in the city, our team is happy to assist you with a jogging route. Thank you for your feedback regarding the stayover service of Housekeeping, as this should not have happened. We have shared your feedback with our Housekeeping manager in order to make sure that this does not happen again. Advisor10, we do hope you choose to revisit us, so we can make your next story an INKredible one. Best regards from Amsterdam, Jolanda Sadni Ziane - General Manager

The hotel is in the perfect location, literally 3 minute walk to the Main Street and 5/10 minute walk from the train station. Our room exceeded our expectations massively and we definitely had the best night sleep we’ve ever had in a hotel. We would definitely recommend and already have to friends looking to go. We definitely would come back next time we visit!

Unfortunately we didn’t try out any of the food or breakfasts as there was nothing we fancied and the continental was €30 which we felt was a bit steep, but there are loads of cafes and restaurants near by so it wasn’t a problem.

INK Hotel Amsterdam was the first MGallery property I have stayed in and I was really impressed. Staff were friendly and efficient and we really enjoyed the daily breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located and a great place to explore the city of Amsterdam. The only comment I have is that the temp control wasn't working and the room was too hot so we kept the window open throughout our stay (in the middle of winter).

Had a very enjoyable stay at what felt like our home away from home!

We checked in to our room to find heart chocolates and prosecco on the bed which we thought was a nice touch as we were celebrating our anniversary. Rooms are a good size but make sure you are comfortable with each other as there is a glass panel separating the bedroom and bathroom 😂!

Couldn't have asked for better service. Staff were very helpful whether it was booking a taxi or printing concert tickets.

The location was perfect and worth booking for alone as it is right in the centre of Amsterdam making pretty much most things in walking distance. Even though it's in the centre it is quiet which is always good.

Stayed recently for 5 nights, family of 3, suite
the good: Ideal location to explore Amsterdam, and quite near train station as well. Lots of good restaurants and picturesque walking nearby. The staff was great and very attentive, beds comfortable and lots of storage in room.

the bad: unusual room set- up with sink/ shower in the middle of the room. The toilet is separate in cubicle with translucent door that does not shut fully. If you are traveling with friends or teens the lack of any privacy might be an issue. Mini fridge did not work and was not fixed when I asked. Room was rather hot and stuffy- cannot open any windows and there did not seem to be AC

Overall the location made it worthwhile, but it rooms need more ventilation and the bathroom set up is just dumb

My girlfriend and I stayed at INK over Christmas and loved every moment of it. The room was a little small but it had a big comfy bed and looked fantastic and has a reasonably big bath in it. The breakfast was probably the best I’ve had in any hotel stay with a big selection of different foods including freshly cooked hot options. The staff were all really lovely and helpful, in particular we spent one of our first nights there chatting with one of the barmen while drinking cocktails and that was very pleasant, everyone just seemed very happy to chat and help out.

The location is great also, it’s in the city centre so most things are walking distance, the train station and tram stations are nearby too for access to further things.

Overall really enjoyed our stay, definitely recommend it as a hotel but also the restaurant and bar are worth checking out on their own merits, regardless of whether you are staying there.

Yes, there are mini bar fridges in all the rooms. The fridges are not filled up, so you can bring your own bites & drinks to cool. If you wish to have a full minibar upon arrival, this is possible. Please contact the hotel to receive an overview of different packages.
