We stayed at Hotel Residence for one night at the beginning of our three-week trip around Italy. We were very pleased with the hotel. They were kind enough to hold our bags for free when we arrived early, helped carry our bags to our room for us, and brought us an iron and ironing board when we requested one.

The location was absolutely perfect - right in the center of the action and facing the water. We saw other people staying at hotels up the street who had to drag their bags uphill, but Hotel Residence is right on the main street, so the cab was able to drop us off right in front of the hotel, and it was only half a block from the buses for the next leg of our trip.

Our room was nice, and we had a balcony with a great view of the water. Again, perfect location.

Breakfast was included. The restaurant is fancy and does serve dinner, but we did not eat dinner there. For breakfast, there was a nice menu to choose from, and the waiters/waitresses bring the food to you (not a buffet). The pancakes were delicious.

Overall, we were very happy with this hotel and would definitely stay again.

This hotel! I was so happy I chose to stay here and better yet, booked through their website to take advantage of their great promotions. My first night was in a corner sea view room and was really noisy. Thankfully I was staying in a standard sea view room the remainder of the week (flight issues/cancellations, had to stay an extra night). This room was not only perfect for one, but had an amazing painting on the ceiling above the bed. The balcony was perfect and much more quiet as it was an interior room. The staff were polite and amazing, the hotel clean and beautiful. You are steps from the beach, bus and ferry. Breakfast in the morning was sufficient and filling. The restaurant, Sensi, was ok - I felt in particular it was overdone and overpriced. There were better places to eat in town.

I fell so in love with this town that I'm hoping I can stay the same week in the same room next year. Thank you Hotel Residence for making my third stay in Italy, first time in Amalfi amazing and a dream.

The best thing about this hotel is the location - right on the front, opposite the bus stop to Ravello and right next to the sea. 2 mins from the main square.

When we checked in, we got given a voucher for a welcome drink in the bar which was a nice touch. Reception also arranged a couple of transfers for us, which needed to be paid in cash.

We had a room which fronted onto another building, but sea/main square view from either side. Would have been good to have a table and chairs on the balcony.

The room itself was large and spacious, with a safe and a fridge (asked hotel to empty minibar, so we could use for our drinks). Bathroom was a bit on the small side and my Husband couldn’t turn round in the shower!

The common areas around the restaurant are stunning. Breakfast is not buffet style and the choices got a bit repetitive after 5 days, however eating it on the terrace looking at the sea was special.

Would definitely come back for the location, which can’t be beaten!

Location is super convenient and the view is incredible, but it's also a bit loud because of where it is. The rooms feel a little outdated and aren't quite as comfortable as other 4 star hotels, but overall it was a nice place to stay. They were very accommodating of my gluten allergy at breakfast

Spent 6 nights here with the intention of doing some walks. Amalfi itself is in the middle of everything with bus and ferry connections to most destinations in the area. Hotel is at a great location with bus and ferry right next door. I had a sea-facing room on the second floor. Great views at sunrise and sunset but it did get noisy sometimes with traffic running right under my balcony. Staff were really friendly and answered various questions and booked a transfer service for me. Hotel breakfast was good with personal and friendly service. It is not a buffet breakfast so be aware that it may take a while getting your order depending on how many other guests decide to eat at the same time as you do. The staff remembered my gluten-free request and always brought GF bread without my asking. I highly recommend this hotel!

Everything about Hotel Residence was an amazing experience. From check in to check out and everything in between. First, this hotel is one of the cleanest hotels I have visited; staff is pleasant, had great recommendations - what a great visit. Breakfast was excellent with an amazing veranda with an awesome view. The area is extremely busy with lots of traffic. It was a little noisy at night nothing that kept us a awake. It was the most convenient location, taxi's right outside the door, beach in walking distance, ferry in the area and walk to the main strip. Location, location, location. If I had one complaint, it would be I booked 4 rooms for 4 couples, and 3 were booked standard and I booked 1 sea view, I paid $400 euro more and the other 3 rooms and they were upgraded to a sea views. I was happy and thrilled for the other 3 couples, but I felt a little cheated. You live and learn. Stay here - awesome experience on a budget.

My boyfriend and I just spent a few days in Amalfi and I loved the location of this hotel. The beach is across the street as are the SITA busses so while it was raining we could stand in the doorway and wait for our bus to arrive and get on it immediately. The room was very comfortable and I loved our small balcony over the main street where you could see the piazza or the sea. The staff here were all very nice and even let my boyfriend keep one of the hotel umbrellas to take home. Breakfast was tasty but basic but the restaurant is lovely with a huge terrace so it's a nice spot to start the day. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Amalfi and would recommend staying here to anyone, especially if the beach is the main reason they are going to the Amalfi Coast.

This is the best hotel on the Amalfi coast. Extremely chic and lovely with a gorgeous breakfast on the terrace each day BUT the best part is it’s right in the middle of everything. Multiple beach clubs right in front. No dragging your bags up the steps-it’s literally a 1 minute flat walk from the ferry port. Quick jaunts to Positano, Capri, etc from there. The staff was so nice and accommodating, just all around a gorgeous hotel and s wonderful stay

Nice building in a privileged position but there it ends unfortunately.
We spent five nights here and were well ready to move on. Our bedroom was large but sparsely furnished with furniture in poor condition. The mattress could well have been from the 18th century and filled with horse hair. The en-suite badly needs updating, we were climbing in and out of a corner bath and having to sit down to shower with a handheld shower head head because there was no curtain or shower head holder, not a great experience and how anyone older than ourselves manage, God only knows. The breakfast was most disappointing, worst 4 star offering we have ever come across. Three choices of bread, two types of pastry’s, small box of CoCo Pops or fruit salad consisting of apple, apple and oh yes…apple. Three fruit juices, tea & Coffee. Your only choice of hot food was freshly cooked eggs, boiled or fried! We were allowed out onto the exterior breakfast balcony one day out of the five. “Happy to help” staff would have been nice, don’t get me wrong, they did what we asked but it seemed to us that it hurt them to do it. Four star position with 2 star interior.

We stayed at Hotel Residence Amalfi as a family and only for one night. The building is beautiful and the location is prime. The beaches are right in front and the building is situated right on the main Piazza, our balcony was overlooking the heart of the town and also the sea. The interiors are beautiful, lots of character and with an amazing italian flair. The Staff at reception is incredibly friendly and the same goes for the staff at the restaurant /breakfast. The breakfast is a beautiful experience, on the roof terrace overlooking the sea and the typical Amalfi coast landscape. I wish we had stayed longer!

Beach is directly across the street and is part sand but pebbles closer to and in water, like Positano.
