The location, the staff, were great.....The Hotel?, well it's a two star, so what do you expect.....I was told by friends to not worry too much about my room, cause I wouldn't be staying there too much anyway.

Keeping that in mind, it is old, and slightly run down, but they were making improvements....sometimes noisy improvements, early in the day. Only 3 TV stations were available, and they were snowy & in French.

The breakfast was typical, a small loaf of French Bread, and a Croissant...Juice & Coffee of course.

For me, and my purposes, this place was okay....And I would consider it again...But I wouldn't reccomend it to My Parents.....or any Romantics...It's a room, and that's about it.

We stayed at the hotel during the weekend when the Tour was ending and it was difficult to find somewhere to stay. We booked at the last minute to get out of London. The hotel was good for the price, clean, comfortable, and we were happy with the staff and everything generally.

The breakfast was buffet style and consisted of french bread, juice, coffee, yogurts etc. All fine for us.

The room was small ( we expected this as it's Paris ) but the bathroom was good ( en suite ) the shower fine and we weren't there much as we spent all our time sightseeing. The only down side is that it's a metro ride to the centre BUT the metro in Paris is cheap and we got to see some of the "real" Paris for a great price. Our room was at the front but it's in a quiet street which meant we got rest after a long day.

We had dinner nearby one night and there are lots of good places to eat, shop and drink nearby.

The hotel is entirely non smoking.

A good experience all round.

This place is a complete dump... Paint is peeling, the rooms are tiny and the stairs are rickety. The staff is unfriendly, rude, and unhelpful. Their internet was down and they told me to go to McDonalds. It was so bad that I left early. Do not go here if you want a decent stay or to be treated nicely.

I stayed at the Hotel Cecil as part of a college tour. When we walked into our room, the curtains were falling off, the carpet had stains all over it, and the beds were absolutely gross!! When we thought it couldn't get any worse, the shower actually had mold in it! Our room was located on the 4th floor, so obviously we weren't going to walk down the spiral staircase. One night while my friend and I were going into the elevator, we got STUCK in between floors for 2 HOURS!!! I suppose it didn't help that none of the emergency buttons worked in the elevator and had no air circulation. Finally when someone found us, the guy at the front desk blamed us for making the elevator break. The hotel never even apologized or asked if we were okay. After that whole ordeal, the night when we were about to take showers, we realized that they put our dirty towels back on the rack. When I walked down to the front desk and asked for new towels, the guy was once again very rude and said I couldn't get new ones until the next day. We went two days before they would give us new towels. THIS HOTEL IS A JOKE!!!!

We stayed at Hotel Cecil for the the weekend and found that the street its on is actually quite busy all day and night with local traffic. The room was comfortable but small. The desk staff weren't very helpful when dealing with foreign tourists as they don't speak any English so brush up on your French phrases prior to arrival. Breakfast was nice but they cannot cope with every guest coming down for breakfast at the same time so either go for breakfast early or leave until about 9:00am when most guests have finished. I probably wouldn't use this hotel again.

I had to stay at this hotel due to being part of a tour group and it was THEE worst hotel I have ever laid eyes on. A hostel is nicer than this place. The front reception are very rude and are not at all helpful. The rooms are disgusting and the shower is a cubby whole. i refused to go barefoot in the shower or the bedroom. The breakfast is a joke and the 'lobby' makes me feel as if bugs are crawling all over me. Just stay away as if your life depended on it.

An absolute nightmare of a hotel--dirty, broken/mismatched furnishings in every room and the lobby, surly service, noisy, poor breakfast, etc., etc. Go somewhere else. As one in my group said, " That hotel is a disgrace."

This hotel is in a brilliant location! But thats about it!! .... I can't say anything for the condition as everything was very basic, dated, old etc. The bedroom was also very small, very basic and dated. The hair dryer didnt work and just smoked - giving off burning smells. The bathroom smelt very bad at times mostly after the maids had been in and cleaned it which was strange. Maybe the hot water when mopping brought out the in grain urine smell and the mouldy shower curtain also didnt entice me into have a shower. Im not sure weather we got a bad room, but if you can over see all this and mostly enjoy your time outside the hotel then its alright as it is in a really good location. Breakfast again, very poor - 1 croissant, 1 small bread roll and cornflakes if wanted. No additions or extras as breakfast staff are rude when asked! Also they watch you like your in a zoo when your eating breakfast.

I stayed here with a large group and the trip was pre booked by a travel company. The hotel is terrible!! when we arrived we were given the key to our room which when we got to the door was already open and the maid had all her wet washing on the beds and on the radiator in our room. There were crumbs all over the floor and the maid kept coming in and out of our room for about 10mins without knocking or asking us. The carpets in the corridor look riddled with grease and deperatley need replacing. The beds in our room where made up with picnic rugs with white paint all over them and there where numerous hairs in the beds. The pillows are not pillows, they are pillowcases stuffed with...... something and are very uncomfortable. There is no heating, we had to plug in an electric heater which was in the wardrobe which had only 1 wheel instead of 4 so it was very unstable and dangerous to use. The bathroom was disgusting, the taps had grime covered all over them, the toilet was dirty, in the corners of the floor there was a digusting build up of dirt. We told reception about all these things and they agreed to clean it, bit there wasnt much change. The staff are very rude, i asked for a glass of water so i could take some medication and they refused to give me one. I will never stay there again and i would advise you stay well clear unless you can overlook these things..

i think the above comments are really really generous as i had numerous problems whist i stayed there. i shared a room with four other people in a room made for at the most three people ,there was no room to keep any suitcases. when we asked to move rooms as we wernt happy we were told no because they were full. we did not ask for such a small room and certainly did not pay for such a small room. there were broken tiles on the bathroom floors and two beds out of the five were broken. when we did approach the staff they were very rude and unproffesional, they had a bad attitude and would not attempt to resolve our problems until we treatened to report them. i mean come on we had to pay to eat our cereal out of a bowl if you didnt pay you ate it out of a cup!!!!! i dont think i will ever return to this hotel again.
