I stayed here in December for work. The town is almost completely shutdown at that time of year but when I booked I was told to bring some food etc so it wasn't a surprise that nothing was open. My room was clean and spacious. I had a stove so I could cook dinner and there are lots of DVDs in the lobby that you can watch on the TV in the room. The manager Ron was very helpful and he made sure I had everything I needed. Bamfield is a beautiful little town and I can't wait to go back in the summer and see what it is like during fishing season.

Great place. The motel is clean, the room was big, great staff. Wide range of dvd’s. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived with Christmas.

Located next to the water, lot's of beautiful nature around. Bamfield is also a great little town.

Very friendly people, and overall a great place to stay.

I believe the reviews of this place have been "kind" because the new owner is seriously ill. For that, I have great compassion. . . so I will show a rating of "poor" instead of "terrible". Also, the bed was comfortable, the reception employees were nice and we had (slow) internet in our room.

This is a very old establishment that is undergoing a "cosmetic" renovation. Unfortunately, slapping some paint and siding on a building that has NOT been maintained for many years, and has obvious "structural" problems, is a loosing battle.
The building is as much as 6 inches out of "level". . . making the doors stick on the linoleum floors. The plumbing has clogs that gurgle up into the bath tub/sink, that are filled with long rotted, disgusting "who knows what".

Rather than go on with what needs to be greatly improved. . . in deference to the illness of the owner. . . and because there are limited choices of accommodation in Bamfield. . . here is a list of what I suggest you will need to be relatively comfortable staying there:

If you have allergies to animal dander or cigarette smoke, stay elsewhere.

1. Make sure the room has had the plumbing pipes cleaned
2. Make sure the room has internet access and a "new" TV. . . so "maybe" you can stream some internet entertainment, because there is NO TV programming access.
3. Although "kitchenettes" are advertised, bring your own "everything" from dishes to spoons and forks, pots and pans, a sharp knife, a coffee pot and all things you use to cook, or even make a sandwich. Do not count on "anything" being provided.
4. Bring a broom for sweeping up the cigarette butts outside.
5. Check the rates posted on the back of the door, and make sure you are charged correctly.
6. Bring all food and beverages with you because the tiny grocery store is very limited and the prices are much more than you will pay at the other end of that long gravel road or boat/ferry ride. Also, be careful at that store. . . make sure they only charge you the price displayed. You are "tourists" and they need to make all their profits in the short summer season.

My best advice. . . make a contribution to the owner's medical fund, and figure out a different place to stay.

Good Luck to You!

Bamfield is a small town on the south coast of Vancouver Island in British Comumbia. It is approx 50 kilometres down a rough forestry road from Port Albernie. There is one motel with perfectly clean and adequate rooms. The breakfasts were fine and the 1 restaurant had good food. We wanted to see whales but no luck. We went out on a small boat which just seated 4 passengers. The boat belonged to fisherman who stopped regularly to check his rods. We saw sea lions and lots of eagles but no whales. Worth visiting if you want to get away from the usual tourist routes.

A friend and I stayed for 3 nights while attending the Music by the Sea festival. We had a room with 2 twin beds on the ground floor. The room had a fridge and a television. We didn't use the TV. The fridge worked. There was no fan in the bathroom, so towels remained damp; also the shower curtain was too long and dragged in the bath tub.
There was also a coffee maker and mugs in the room.
We ate our meals in the Cafe across the street and in the Pub attached to the Motel. Dining options are limited in Bamfield but the portions are generous and the food was OK for 3 days. Very hearty breakfasts; dinners were mostly fish & chips or burgers.

Nice staff. The pub & cafe serve good food. Slept well on comfy beds. High praise to the Huu-ay-aht Nation for turning a once rundown accommodation into a great place to stay when visiting beautiful Bamfield. We'll stay there again.

The motel looks nothing like the pictures
Had several backpackers parting beside us
There no tv just DVDs there no place to eat after 3 pm The bar was not open. Nothing there to do. The washroom sink taps you have to hold 1 on at a time and to wash your hands. The room was clean with a little fridge and microwave. Good luck to new owners

Bamfield is a special place. Not a usual tourist destination so the town and its amenities may not conform to international standards. Ron was an excellent and friendly host. The motel was an excellent choice for two nights to visit our son at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. Clean, bright & spacious room. Good quality pub food at the motel pub - the only restaurant open that weekend! Right by the pier to take a water taxi to explore the west side.

We are also upgrading rooms daily so we can promise your next experience is better than the last. Let us know when you are back next and your first night is on us for dinner and accomodations! This single motel in Bamfield is also one of the nicest motel type accommodations I’ve ever enjoyed. It has been taken on by the local First Nation, and is now known as Hacas Inn. Our room had two beds plus a cot because we were three not related, and we fit fine with the only issue being the cot needed one more blanket. In our room there was a coffee maker, microwave and small fridge. Nearby there is a small restaurant and market.
The Hacas Inn is closest to the East dock and allows visitors to enjoy Bamfield without the need for water taxis. However, the most scenic part of town is the West side, and a water taxi costs $10 pp each way. This motel is where those staging for the West Coast trail like to stay.
But as visitors to the annual Music by the Sea festival, this was also perfect. It will always be where we stay in Bamfield for the concert.
