The Spa Excelsior is an affordable, nice, relaxing hotel less than an hour outside of Montreal.
The package is very reasonable including one night’s stay, a massage, a 5-course dinner and a full breakfast. The food at restaurant Amadeus is excellent.
They are working on improving things that are needed around the hotel.
One suggestion is to put a barrier wall near the pool to reduce the noise of the main street that runs along the hotel which makes the relaxing part a little more difficult.

Shout out to the wonderful staff at the front desk - Anne Michelle and Richard!

Staff was friendly, Nice, quiet and clean. Some bedrooms might need some refreshing as you could see a few minor cracks in the paint. Everything was functional such as electric fireplace, bathrooms are recently renovated. Minor thing but I would increase the flow of the liquid soap dispenser in the shower. I'm washing body parts not hands so I would expect a greater dollop to flow with one push. Pool was nice and warm with a tropical touch and so was the interior whirlpool. Exterior hot tub was hot the first night but warm the second but it could be because the cover was off during -15C (5F) evenings. I would designate a couple of parking spaces near the hotel entrance as a drop off zone for people and luggage. Restaurant/bar was cosy and had a very good breakfast. Try to have it included with your room fee to be less expensive. They loan comfortable bathrobes to go to the pool.

Took my grandson (5) for a long weekend mini vacation. Loved every minute. Richard at the front desk was exceptional. Very pleasant and helpful, enjoys his job. 1st room was not updated with a heat problem, Instantly upgraded us at no extra charge, to a large room with 2 queen beds and a fireplace. Couldn't use fireplace because of Pandemic. Not a problem for us. We had a great time in the swim lol. Only downside was the restaurant. Very pricey. But again we didn't care, just went out for dinner the next couple of nights. This Hotel is NOT in front of an Amusement Park, where that review came from, who knows. It is quiet, in the country.

Spent a long weekend (4 nights) and was not super impressed. For the price they charge, the hotel is VERY dated and screams 1990. GIve it a little love and invest in the service you offer your paying customers. The only nice person we met was Richard at reception who is overloaded and alone. During covid, they do not come clean your rooms, which I can understand but no offer to get fresh towels or clean cups after making a coffee in the morning (you offer coffee machines, you should either than offer disposable cups, or clean cups at reception). When I went to ask about a new cup after 2 days, the reception gave me a bottle of Mr Clean and told me to clean it myself. With what? Toilet paper?

We went to this SPA to book massages. Massotherapist was not on site. Not available. This should have been mentioned at check-in or when booking. So we went to a SPA and got NO SPA TREATMENTS.

Not impressed. Won't be back.

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend getaway and was highly disappointed. To begin, it is located directly in front of an amusement park, the annoying music of which I could hear from my balcony, which I therefore didn't use. The oldest of the two ladies at reception obviously did not want to be there and could barely manage half a smile. The room itself was outdated, dirty (there was about an inch of dust under the sink and around the baseboards, and a ring of scum around the jets in the tub, which I didn't dare use) and in need of several repairs (cracked tiles, peeling wallpaper, detached mouldings). Both the mattress and box spring were stained, as was the mattress protector. The modem was literally hanging off the wall, the remote was in a bag too small to even contain it, and I could not for the life of me figure out how to turn off the freezing cold air conditioning.
The fridge had been unplugged and had thawed, so it was full of water, which I had to spend precious time mopping up. Icing on the cake? I discovered that there was a single bag of decaf in the morning. Oh, and no actual soap or shampoo, just a dispenser on the wall with some cheap, gross product in it.

As for the pools, well, pretty much the same deal as my room. Cracked, broken cement on the bottom, rusty hand railings, dirt everywhere. The only two spas were reserved by couples who just left their belongings there all day so no one else could take their spot. Quite disappointing all-round. Far from the relaxing weekend I had hoped for.

First of all their is no handicap access ramp from outside to the lobby. Second, their is no elevator to reach the second level. Their website does not mention these two facts.
Our room was no. 214 which is at the back on a level higher that the actual second floor with more steps to conquer.
Without any advance notice, we were not told that the rooms would not be cleaned on a daily basis and that the towels would not be changed. Nothing was mentioned when we registered nor any posted notice in our room. I found out when I visited the front desk. Reason given "we don't do that anymore, don't have the staff".
Although the hotel was clean, it is in need of a fresh coat of paint and sprucing up.

Staff made this package. Professional humble felt at home. Service from front desk, treatments, restaurant great. New ownership neglected the spa, foam around unfinished emergency exit, ceiling tiles filled with water, maintenance worker scraping/sanding in my quiet time, broken shower tap showered ice cold water in steam room, sauna did not work, dirty carpet tiles, tacky bedspreads. Happy I could not see body fluids, would not have slept. Real shame, minimal investment could bring back the 'spa', simple things, offering a bottle of water (non in the room either) a 10 cent apple, chocolate, biscuit, something. Oh! the sound of a diffuser while having my great massage, it had no calming scent because......... get this! It was a dripping drain pipe covered discretely by a stool with a towel over it. Will definitely not waste money, time going again. Had to tip well, the staff need it. Okay celebrating Jean Baptiste but...... drunks screaming at each other at 11pm and 7:30am totally not acceptable. Will write to the owner/manager, lost us as customers and I will take back the recommendation for 3 of my friends/family/couples within my sphere of influence who were going to book in the next couple of weeks.

This hotel/getaway spot has it all.
Comfortable rooms and beds. New bathrooms in many of the rooms.
Indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. Lots of chairs to enjoy the company of your companions.
The massages that can be booked prior to arrival are professional and privately offered on a floor of their own.
The dining room is very pleasant, staff very friendly and attentive, and the FOOD, So wonderful!!
The Front desk staff, Richard and Michelle, are so kind wanting everyone to enjoy the experience at their establishment. They do not own it but they treat their clients like they do.
The various packages are so wonderful, inexpensive, and just a wonderful way to have a great time with family and or friends.
Thanks you again.
Lynn

After reading the reviews we were a bit scared of what we had signed up for. We spent 4 days and 3 nights at this hotel spa and it was wonderful. Room was really big, 2 queen beds, a table and 2 chairs, a desk, a/c, tv and even a fireplace which we didn't use. Everything was very clean. Outside and inside pools were clean as well and so were the 2 jacuzzis. We had breakfast 3 mornings and food was very good as well as the 3 dinners with 4 course meals. So we were very happy with our choice of hotel and thankful that we didn't listen to the negative comments we read here. One thing to remember is if you want to be in a place that looks and feels like the Ritz...... well go stay at the Ritz and pay the price.

The hotel has three floors and no elevator. It also does not have a continental breakfast. I would suggest the first floor poolside.
