A beautifully appointed Victorian log house in a tranquil woodland setting by the Gatineau River, only 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa and Gatineau. All our rooms and common areas have the charm of a 19th century home - just as Buckhouse was when it was built in the year of Canada's confederation, 1867. Our period-style rooms can be booked individually or the entire house can be reserved for your private use. Rooms include the prestigious log-walled Marguerite room with a private balcony; our Gladys suite large pine-panelled main room overlooking forest an annex (kids) room and private entrance; Jessie, with views over woods and en suite bathroom; and two smaller rooms, Ida and Charlotte with twin beds or king bed, and shared full bath. Breakfast is served in the dining room around a convivial table. Guests are invited to stroll through the woodland setting, along the banks of the Gatineau River and to enjoy seasonal use of the river - whether cross-country skiing, walking, or boating and swimming from our private swimming area. Rooms are available with luxury quality twin, queen or king sized beds. Coffee and tea are available at all times, wifi is free, and television is available in all rooms. Guests are also welcome to use the games and books and make themselves comfortable in the lovely common areas and garden.

Le Chalet Buckhouse is esquisite from the outside. Perched on the Canadian Shield with dutchman's breeches peeking out their little heads. Surrounded by maple and pine trees high above the Gatineau River -- where I saw a loon, mallards and geese. The inside of the log cabin is completely modern. Great linens, comfy bed, all modern faciltities, huge bath tub. Quiet. Great view of the night sky. Breakfast is served when it is convenient for you. Warm and friendly hosts. Just love that the cabin, built in 1867 (Canadian Confederation) has been saved and "repurposed." It was a treat to stay here.

My husband and I, along with our young grandaughter stayed over for 2 nights. It is spotlessly clean. Close enough to Ottawa to explore and yet offering a quiet peaceful country stay just outside the big city. The hospitality was warm and inviting. Could not have asked for more! Thanks Celine!!!!

This place is well worth it if you're looking for a relaxing break in the woods. Beautiful house, quiet setting surrounded by trees, fab breakfasts, coffee all day, swimming, fishing, canoes, and close enough to the city that if you have the burning desire for traffic and car horns you can get it in under 30 minutes. I was here with my littles on holiday and I would highly recommend this for families or if you need a retreat for yourself for a few days. Beautifully maintained and so much nicer than the majority of hotels out there. Go now! Go often.

Right on the edge of the Gatineau River in Cantley, this is a beautiful old house with several rooms, many with their own bathrooms. Situated on a point of land away from the main road, the setting is wooded and quiet. The beds are kink size memory foam with lovely duvets. Charlotte, our hostess, made us a great breakfast.
Nice getaway location; very relaxing!

My husband and I just spent 1 night here and we will absolutely recommend it. Our host, Mina, was so helpful and accommodating. She met us quite late to show us around and served a delicious home made breakfast in the morning. Our room was perfect and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!! The added touch of a balcony with garden views was wonderful to sit out and enjoy the scenery. Very quiet location that is great for a romantic getaway :)
