The views were terrific, restaurant served pretty good western food. Restaurant service was pretty good... However, I paid for a cottage and when I checked in, that wasn't what I got. If you're renting a cottage, it means the whole cottage... False advertising.

Plus the room was dirty and the neighbors were noisy.the walls were paper thin. The thin walls is not unusual here... That's why I wanted a cottage. I cancelled on the spot.

Go there for the food, service and view... But don't spend the night.

My rating is based on visiting the room at checkin... Like I said, I cancelled on the spot.

Room Tip: Don't expect an air conditioned cottage. There's no such thing. False advertising.

Not 5 star but acceptable accommodation nevertheless. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant was inexpensive and tasty. Perfect location right on the beach. The resort appears popular with German and Australian tourists.

I came to La Union for an event and had my accommodation booked by a friend who recommended this resort as it was very close to Coconut Grove where the event was to take place, but supposedly a lot cheaper. I now know why.
My room was very run down. Paint was peeling off the walls and ceiling, doors didn't fit properly, shower sent more water up than down, white bedding and towels were grey.
Tv was old and had no green channel so I watched football with red grass.
Aircconditioning unit was installed too low and only served to cool your bum while in bed.
Swimming pool was regularly dosed with chlorine but the water was dirty and uninviting.
On the plus side, the bar/restaurant was ok with a good menu and reasonable service.

My boyfriend and i stayed here beacuse we thought all of the resorts are fullbooked just like in kahuna we travelled back here at bauang because some said that balai is nice resort but as we stayed we are really disapointed for only few hours because they really had poor airconditioning, poor service, the toiletries is also not complete,no cable and the food is not even good and yet their price is too much, ui just want to have a relaxed birthday weekend but this experience is really stressful for me. I will not suggest this place. Maybe if u are budgeted u can stay here.

This place has good restaurant and lively bar but here it ends!
No beech,and dreadful rooms.
TV ok but that's it , water supply non existent, 12 hours without water!and when it returned not enough pressure to run shower!
Rooms dirty, full of mosquito and falling apart, needs a total refurb!
So at 1950p night it a rip off, when I complained after paying 2500p deposit I asked for a reduction ,they said if I not pay in full they would deduct from reception staff salary.
Do not stay here it is a s--t hole
I only hope the Australian who owns this hovel reads my comments!!

You know, I was actually very surprised by the entire experience. My wife and I came up for 4 days and 3 night. We put up her family in one of the large quarters. Let's be honest, the beach in that area is awesome, but I got in some really nice long swims at morning low tide. Her family had a blast in the pool. We had great V day dinner on Friday night and another great BBQ dinner on Saturday night. During our free time, we took transport into San Fernando. The night market is awesome.
Normally when I travel, I stay at 4 and 5 star resorts, but Bali Hai was a pleasant surprise.
Yeah, the rooms are outdated. The property needs a serious overhauling, but I actually enjoyed it.

I'm currently staying here for a night only and so far, I'm not exactly enjoying it. The rooms are sooo outdated, my AC isnt even cold, not enough sockets, and my shower won't turn off! I've told the reception to shut it off but they said they didn't have any maintenance guy at night, and they said to leave it open...How am I supposed to sleep with a shower on the whole night?!
The restaurant food is overpriced and not even worth it, I've been to places with the same price and served better food! The only good thing I like is that the beach is super close to the resort...I don't even think I can call this a resort. I hope the management decides to do some renovations to this place because it certainly needs it!

Old established resto-bar, pool and "aging cottages"; if only rating the Bar 'excellent' because of the friendly expats and cold draft beer, food is 'good' but the cottages leave much to be desired as they are dated and not comfortable.
