Bottom Line: The hotel is beautiful and very well-maintained, the rooms are spacious and luxurious, the location is excellent, and the friendly and professional staff provides true 5-star service. We have fairly high standards and this was one of our best hotel experiences. We are very much looking forward to returning.
My wife and I stayed at The Bruce for two nights for a short relaxing getaway during the week in mid-August 2022. I booked a "Deluxe Garden King Bed" room online directly through the hotel's website. However, shortly after we arrived, we switched to a 'Superior Garden King" in order to get a full-sized balcony with chairs (the website can be misleading re: which rooms have full balconies and which do not). The room itself was huge with luxurious features. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was very well-maintained. French press coffee maker and coffee in room along with wet bar, kettle, fridge, closet, a number of drawers, safe, desk, lounge area with table, and coat hooks and bench at entry. Large windows that open. Double doors to patio. The highlight my have been the enormous spa-like bathroom. The hotel felt traditional but also new. Good layout with easy access to parking garage, main lobby, and other amenities (we didn't use the pool, hot tub, or gym on this trip). Loved the accommodations overall.
Service was very impressive throughout our stay (probably the best part of the trip) -- thanks to Brad and Rebecca who greeted us on Day 1, and the entire staff (sorry for forgetting some names). They provide everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Staff were always friendly and helpful. They seem eager to do anything they can to make your stay comfortable. Being a small hotel, it was nice to have many of the staff remember our names when greeting us in the lobby or at the restaurant. Some highlights for us included the complimentary coffee service to the room, 'cookie hotline', and turn-down service. I also appreciated the doorbell and privacy system (electronic vs. door hangers).
Breakfast was included in our booking and we enjoyed the selection and quality of the food. While not every item was a hit, the food was very good overall. We were able to select from the a la cart breakfast menu and had access to the full menu.
*I alluded to this earlier, but for those who care about the balcony/patio, it's important to note that if you want a walk-out balcony or patio with seating, I believe you must book a "superior" room ("deluxe" rooms only offer a very small Juliet balcony - still with big beautiful double doors, but you can't go out on it and relax). The cost to upgrade is relatively minor (about $35 at the time of writing) and definitely worth it if you like being outside. Everything on the website seemed to suggest that all garden view rooms had the same type of balcony. Thankfully, a room with a full balcony was available and we were quickly moved -- *I really appreciated the staff doing this. We didn't even request a room change (they acted on it so quickly we didn't have much time to); Rebecca could tell I was disappointed during our room tour and we got a phone call from Brad at the front desk within minutes to arrange a move to another available room.
Again, The Bruce is a special place to stay and Stratford is a fun little town to visit. We can't wait to go back.

Last weekend, we stayed at the Bruce hotel. We have travelled all over the world, and have stayed at many wonderful hotels, but the exemplary service at the Bruce, along with the large, comfortable suites, made this my favourite yet.
All of the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived at the front of the hotel, till the moment we left, the staff made us feel like visiting royalty. Nothing was too much to ask, and everything was done with smiling eyes and kind words (masks cannot hide the smiles on the faces of the staff).
The rooms are all very large, and no detail has been overlooked. Especially wonderful are the large balconies with comfortable seating, dual vanities in the bathroom with a separate room for the commode, and the rainfall shower.
The food in the restaurant was fabulous - very inventive, beautifully presented and delicious.
During COVID, I wasn’t much looking forward to a weekend with masks and restrictions, but we had the time of our lives. We have already booked another weekend visit in February, so that we have something wonderful to look forward to.

Husband and I spent an amazing weekend away at the Bruce and could have not found a better place to stay. The attention to detail is amazing and the service is impeccable. Upon arrival the front desk staff was so attentive and made sure yo arrange morning beverages for us and confirmed our dinner reservations for each day. Our room was beautiful and the note in our room with the complimentary dessert was a sweet surprise. The first night we had dinner on the patio and enjoyed the waygu burger which was fantastic. Paired with an order of chips and margaritas which made for a great meal. Out second night we had a more formal dinner in the dining room and again the food was out of this world. I had the sweet pea tart and my husband had the lobster bisque so good! For our mains we had the salmon and the fois gras- must try dishes! We also enjoyed room for breakfast each day which was the most amazing way to start each day! We utilized the pool both days and even forgot to grab the locker key and used the app to have the front desk bring to us and they were there within minutes. We also used the app to adjust our dinner reservations while we were downtown and again the staff was responsive and very helpful. Turn down service was a great added touch and a huge thanks to Rishi who also did our second night turn down because we had mistakenly left our do not disturb button on. We highly recommend the Bruce

We have been going to Stratford annually for many years, to the festival. With covid-19 no festival this year. We usually stay at a B&B and again many are closed without the festival. This was our first stay at The Bruce, 2 nights, I could golf and my wife could shop (just a short walk downtown. I believe we had the lowest priced room, it seemed more like a suite, beautiful! From the time we arrived until the time we left we were taken care of, it felt special. Staff knew our names, breakfasts (included in) were a treat. We had dinner there one evening out on the patio, beautiful fall evening. Many inclusions with the price of the room, we would gladly stay again.

The Bruce has always served excellent food. Everything I have ever eaten has impressed me. Eating in is always an amazing experience, but even while they are limited to carryout they take the time to make the meal special.
From the quality of the napkins to the included menu, You get an experience not just a meal.
And even though it’s a luxury hotel, their carry out food is very very reasonably priced.
What more could you want!
Plus, I don’t know what magic they use to make their triple cooked French fries, but Wow!

We have never found an hotel we like better anywhere in the world that we like as much as this one. We've known Jennifer Birmingham as customers for years through her extraordinary b&b. She spent years designing this according to her vision. She spent another approx 5 years getting it approved. When you enter the lobby ti feels like a traditional luxury lobby. It's quiet. There are comfortable chairs everywhere to sit, sip a drink or talk. The ceilings everywhere are high. The colors are neutral but not bland. There are all kinds of things in various hallways and landing, you'd have to see for yourself. The rooms are very large. Who'd need a suite? The ceilings approx 10 - 12 ft. The bathroom is my dream. spacious and comfortable. The texture of the tiles on the floor are comfortable to my feet. The restaurant is EXCELLENT. I had a crispy perch that was wonderful. The breakfast omelette was first class, They make their own jams and honey. The patio you'd really like to eat on. Quiet and overlooking some fields. No traffic. I said to my wife isn't it wonderful to stay at a place we really like? I it's small, 25 rooms. The service is fast up close and personal. It looks large because of the large rooms. It looks old fashioned but it is entirely up to date.Free parking. When we go to Stratford Ontario this is the ONLY place we'd stay at. It's was within walking distance to the Festival Theater. To our minds better than the modern luxury hotels.

Husband and I stayed at this lovely property to celebrate my birthday. The hotel staff were amazing—friendly, funny, welcoming. Our room was spacious and extremely clean. The bed was perfect. There was complimentary still and sparkling water in the room fridge, along with coffee and/or tea delivered to the room in the morning. A lovely touch was the plate of birthday cupcakes waiting for us when we arrived. Full breakfast was included with the room and it was delicious. I loved that the staff were ready to accommodate allergies and dietary preferences. And we made good use of the cookie hotline that saw cookies delivered to our door whenever we wanted. We intend to return to this wonderful property in the summer.

We spend an amazing weekend at this gorgeous and elegant hotel. We stayed at a suite, our room was very spacious, tastefully decorated and absolutely spotless. The customer service was by far the best I’ve ever experienced. We also had superb dinner and breakfast. Our stay was perfect start to finish, we will definitely be back.

My friend and I had Sunday brunch here before catching a Stratford Festival matinee. The Restaurant at The Bruce has always been my most favourite restaurant in Stratford and our brunch experience did not disappoint at all.
The food was excellent with former Executive Chef of Langdon Hall, Jonathan Gushue, at the helm of the kitchen. I had the Duck and Foie Gras Terrine, the Zucchini Cavatelli and the Chocolate Sorbet (not your usual sorbet) while my friend had a green salad, the Arctic Char and the Lemon Verbena Posset for dessert.
The service was outstanding with ultra-friendly servers who all demonstrated a passion for their jobs! The restaurant gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for not having been able to serve us lunch from an early summer reservation due to staff shortage problems in the kitchen and for being a loyal customer. The vintage 2019 DeLoach Chardonnay from Russian Valley, California, is one of the best chardonnays I’ve tasted.
Dining at The Bruce is a ‘must’ if you’re in Stratford. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has just added a couple of cottages for families. I missed the restaurant and the hotel during the past 2.5 years of the pandemic! Hopefully, by next summer, business will be back to normal again so that I could return and enjoy the service more frequently!

Me and my boyfriend decided to head to Stratford for a cycling and relaxing weekend. From making the reservation to checking out, the customer service at The Bruce exceed your expectations. The room including the bathroom is big, clean and up to date(we stayed in a superior King, which are further from the reception than the deluxe). The only thing that would’ve made our stay better is if the kitchen could’ve made a vegan dinner for us, a simple plate of pasta with veggies works great for the carb-seeking cyclists we are. Other than that, the oatmeal was great and I was very happy about the unlimited vegan cookies, the fresh fruits at turndown and the coffee delivered to the room in the morning. Next time I hope to use the pool and spa. Special thanks to Devon for his friendly and attentive service. I highly recommend The Bruce and would not hesitate to come back, it is where you want to stay in Stratford. (Even the lion statues at the gate are applying safety protocols)

Yes, all rooms are wheelchair accessible, showers are very large, wide doorways and there is a nice marble floored elevator. Enjoy your stay, I know you will
