Rampart creek remains one of our most favorite campgrounds. This year at No. 34 almost the same spot as 5 years ago. Quiet, in the middle of nature, on the river and visited by a fairly large black bear that had come very close unnoticed.

This is an excellent new addition to the Parks Canada online reservation service. There are some very nice river sites and mountain view sites with decent evergreen tree cover. Check google maps street view to preview what the sites look like. Some of the pull through sites are tight radius and would only fit a small trailer. Some are gigantic.

Fill your trailer with water before arriving. Enjoy the mountain views on the ice fields parkway. Amazing.

We saw several black bears in the area. Keep a clean campsite or you’ll get a ticket and maybe an unwanted visit from the bears.

Campground is unserviced, but there is a water tap near the fire wood. Firepit at every site.

Think our site was 30.

Beautiful setting - river right there on one side, mountains rising up in the other. Wow.

Very secluded sites.

Mosquitoes were awful though.

We stayed here late September and campsite 47 was beautiful. Right against the river with great mountain views. Pit toilets and no water if it's too cold. We loved it here. Highly recommend stopping (here) partway up or down the Icefields Parkway so you have time to see and hike along the way.

Situated around 95km from Lake Louise and 140km from Jasper, Rampart Creek is in the heart of the Icefield Parkway and as such has no cell service. This is absolutely fine though as you get to really enjoy the stunning scenary we stayed on spot 32 which backed right on to the river and we even had a little beach, honestly this is a perfect place to recharge.
