I loved every minute of my stay at Porto Allegro. The location was perfect; half a block from the ocean and all the action of the Malecon and 5 mins from the center of the action in the Romantic zone. Surrounded by beauty, history, places to eat and drink and people watching. I stayed in room 307 and wouldn't want to stay in any other room. Spacious, great a/c, a balcony looking out to the church and a spa tub as well as the comfiest bed, refrigerator and a safe. All I needed. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. I had no problems at all in my stay but I feel there was always someone available if I did. Housekeeping was great, my bed was made up, towels fresh and folded and I appreciated the 2 bottles of water daily. Thank you Eunice. My favourite part was breakfast. Monica and Karen cooked up and served delicious, fresh food every morning with views that made every morning perfect. They were friendly and tolerated my attempts for asking for my food in Spanish. Muchas gracias! I spent a few quiet afternoons on the deck with a book on comfy loungers. The hotel was safe, clean and surrounded by an abundance of restaurants, bars and lovely walks. I enjoyed that we were steps from the church and with the a/c on I barely heard the bells every one seems annoyed by! Thank you to everyone who made my stay simply wonderful. I look forward to staying again in the future.

Hotel Porto Allegro is located in the Old Town of Puerto Vallarta, within easy walking distance of the beach, the Malecon and all the other attractions of the Romantic area. Our initial room, on the street side of the hotel, was a little noisy but Victor at the front desk was very accommodating in moving us to a room on the back, which was very quiet. The entire hotel was very clean. The breakfast, included in the room cost, was excellent, with a wide range of choices, made to order. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We stayed a week from 23rd January. The location is awesome being only one block from the Malecon. The place is spotless. Victor at reception was very accommodating when we asked to move to an inside room as we had a very noisy first night. He made no issue whatsoever! The cooked to order breakfast on the top floor was delicious with a great choice. Sorvanna who looked after our room was always cheerful & polite. The only thing we didn’t have was a pool so we just went over the road to Coexistence restaurant & bar was able to use their beautiful pool if you spent $300. Happy hour was 2-7pm.
We will definitely be coming back again as for this price point hotel they really are doing an amazing job. Thank you 🇨🇦

I was so disappointed in my stay at Porto Allegro. When my husband and I booked our room at this hotel we specifically chose a room type that specified it had a “mountain view/landmark view/city view.” Instead of getting a room with a view, our room (109) faced what is basically an enclosed storage area. The area was completely walled in and if you looked up you could see a fence. It seriously felt like being in a prison cell.
Not only did our room not have any view, due to the enclosed nature of the storage area our room also had very little natural light and you needed to turn the lights on even during the day. In effect, it was like being in a room with no window.
The sliding door to the room opened to a tiny enclosed patio area that had a security door between the tiny patio and the storage area. The sliding glass door did not lock, so the hotel employee locked the security door with a padlock. Of course we were not provided a key to this lock, so in the event of a fire we would have been unable to exit through that door.
Another odd thing was that was a coffee maker in the room, but for some reason the hotel did not provide coffee supplies in the room and if you wanted to make coffee you had to go get coffee from the front desk. That kind of defeats the point of having a coffee maker in the room if in the morning you have to first go get dressed and go to the front desk to get the coffee.
There were some things that were OK, there was a fridge in the room and the location was fine. However the lack of light/view really put a damper on our trip and we will find a different place to stay next time we are in Puerto Vallarta.

Steps from the Malecon and the Zona Romantica, this small (approx 30 room) hotel provides scrupulously clean facilities and a full complimentary breakfast made to order, with coffee and juice, a fruit plate, eggs and meat, and Mexican specialties on order. You can spend a lovely time on the rooftop patio in loungers and chairs, overlooking the skyline and the view up the hill towards the Basilica. A four rating because the windows are sealed.

When we compared the less expensive AIRBNB in the area, we found this location to be better. Although the hotel rate was a little higher, the AIRBNBs cost more after all the extra fees. Just a block from the Malecon, 2 blocks from Zona Romantico. Very touristic with all the trappings in the area. Be sure and explore the back streets away from the beach to find the best prices on restaurants.

This is a modest hotel. However, it is clean, provides great staff/customer service, has an excellent location (no car needed, so many things to do within walking distance), and has a decent complimentary breakfast.
The rooftop pool is really nice. It "turns into" a hot tub in the evening as the staff turns on the warm water jets. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay. It was affordable, clean, and accessible! :)

I was at this hotel for 6 days, February the 19th till February 25th, We spent our 49th anniversary there, I had Doubts about Staying at a hotel, We always stayed at resorts, I have to say that this was a great hotel, Very very clean, I Was impressed. Large rooms bathrooms a good size with AC And complimentary breakfast which is Made to order. All the staff were very friendly, Nice comfortable beds, I was so satisfied with this place we've booked it again For our 50th anniversary, This place is right in the heart of downtown porto Vallarta, Could not ask for anything better than that. We found a lot of places to eat out there which was very cheap, Honestly this please Is a bargain to stay at and I recommend it to anybody that is looking for a good hotel. I'll give this place 10 stars

Beautiful small hotel, the staff was great, the room very comfortable, I loved the big shower. They have breakfast on the roof and they make it too order. I will have eggs like they made them forever. The view was amazing. Walking distance to multiple places to eat and drink we found a great place to watch the Vikings football game. We will go back.

Friendly, well located hotel, about a block from the market and 1/2 block from Rio Cuale. It's 4-5 blocks in from the malecon, so for me close enough. I'm not a beach person, so I much prefer proximity to great shopping and good restaurants! This was my second stay at the Porto Allegro. I was given a lovely corner room, with a small balcony and lots of windows with pull down shades. The room had excellent AC, coffee maker, two bottles of water daily, and a fridge. The bathroom was clean, with a shower and thoughtful toiletries , like a pack of tissues and a sponge, along with the usual items. The hotel has a restaurant upstairs that serves a nice breakfast to order. The only downside I can even think of is that the elevator is small and a bit slow. But they have an elevator! All of the staff have been very kind and helpful without being intrusive. I recommend this small hotel if you prefer something traditional, clean, and welcoming. I expect to return again and again ....
