Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort & Casino generally impresses with its array of amenities, including diverse dining and entertainment options that offer stunning ocean views, although some guests note inconsistencies. The vibrant atmosphere, filled with activities such as bingo and karaoke, is a highlight, though the music's volume may be overwhelming for some. While cleanliness receives praise, occasional lapses in housekeeping are mentioned. Opinions on value are split; the all-inclusive package is affordable for many, but others are put off by extra charges and dining limitations. Room experiences vary, with most guests enjoying the comfortable accommodations and ocean vistas, but a few report problems with room readiness. Service quality also fluctitates, ranging from commendable to disappointing due to long waits and sometimes unopened facilities.

Stayed 2/25-3/4: If you are not high maintenance and can go with the flow, you will be fine at this resort. What they are marketing is not what they have, which is misleading. I read the reviews and knew what to expect. If you don't like the negative reviews then cancel and go somewhere else. If you want something you will need to ask for it. The staff will get it for you! I never saw anyone cleaning the rooms, which was fine because we had plenty of towels, toilet paper, etc. Don't expect high-end amenities, it is basic. Bring your own bath products. The rooms are beautiful. If possible request one near the pool, the beach is nicer then the end units. The pool and pool bar are amazing, along with the staff (Bethany, Sarah, Milton). The lobby bar is beautiful and the bartender Derek will always have your drink ready when he sees you without even having to ask. Breakfast buffet was fine, had an omelet station, fruit, breads, etc. We ate there every morning. They will give you a carafe of coffee to take to your room, which I did each morning before breakfast. YES you need to get it, there is no room service. It's not that hard! Lunch is served only at the pool bar, but the selections are good. Salads, burgers, fries, etc. We ate there everyday! Dinner buffet one night was (Mexican) which was good. Fish, Chicken, Pork, and a beef carving station were available with all the sides. There was only one restaurant open for three days only while we were there (Tuscany) and we ate there twice. The food was great. Lots of different choices...again don't expect lobster. Duggans is 1 mile away if you want lobster. Bring what you need as there's no gift shop, but a store is 2 miles away. Boardwalk is 20 min taxi ride. Casino and fitness center are across the street. They are NOT at full all-inclusive level, but we enjoyed our stay and had no complaints.

Just returned from a four day three night trip with seven other ladies. We were celebrating the anniversary of an organization we are in. I would like to start this out by saying this is not a Sandals resort. This is a local resort with local flavor that brings a special touch. The property is older and possibly could use some outside renovations. But the open lobby area where you check in is beautiful with several ocean colored waiting areas, lounging areas, and a beautiful central bar. It is open air, which is part of the Island flavor. The staff was always attentive, and you can tell different staff members play many different roles. Our rooms were ready, and, despite the older outside appearance, once you open the door, the rooms were extremely nice, very modern, had a piping, hot shower, and lots of storage space. There is a breakfast buffet in the morning, which has a variety of American foods. Remember, this is not Jamaica, you are still in the United States. The pool area was nice and the pool bar and food was fine. The staff was always willing to help, and the driver hilarious. The biggest downturn was not at the hotel’s fault, and that is the seaweed. Because of the location on the island, this is the t time of year that seaweed accumulates on the beach. There is nothing the hotel can do about this. They have a machine that is driven to clean it, but they really can’t keep up. However, they did have a free shuttle to a different beach in a different location that was not packed with seaweed. On our first night, they had karaoke, which was fun. On the second night, they had fire dancers, which was fun. On the third nights, they had stilt dancers, which was extremely fun. We had reservations at the Italian restaurant, which was our formal welcome dinner to commemorate our occasion. The staff manager went above and beyond to make sure that we were all seated together and had something special to make our night more memorable and we appreciated it. Overall, everyone had an amazing time. Biggest pros, friendly staff, hot showers, fun, drinks, great cookies, great mimosas , atmosphere. Cons, older property, seaweed, and smell of the seaweed, further location from the rest of the island life. I am sure eventually there will be renovations to make the property more modern. But where it counts, like the rooms, the mark was hit. I would like to say that I would stay here again, but it definitely would be earlier in the year when seaweed is not a big deal. It is definitely the kind of property where you can lounge and spend more of your time there then just explore in the evening. Thanks to the staff and my travel mates for a great trip.

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. We are delighted to hear that you and your group had an enjoyable stay with us while celebrating such a special occasion. We appreciate your understanding of our unique, local charm and the open-air ambiance of our resort. It’s wonderful to know that our attentive staff, beautiful lobby, and modern rooms added to your positive experience. We're glad you enjoyed the breakfast buffet, pool area, and the variety of entertainment we provided each night. We acknowledge your comments about the property’s exterior and the seaweed. While the seaweed is indeed a natural occurrence that we continuously work to manage, we are pleased that you found our shuttle service to a different beach helpful. Thank you for highlighting our friendly staff, hot showers, fun atmosphere, and delicious food and drinks. Your kind words about our staff manager’s efforts to make your formal dinner memorable are greatly appreciated. We are committed to ongoing improvements and hope to welcome you back again, perhaps at a time when the seaweed is less prevalent, for another enjoyable stay. Best regards,

The resort is nice with beautiful ocean views from every hotel room and a great pool right by the ocean with a bar & grill poolside. The staff was phenomenal - especially the wait staff (Hailey, Cole, Orion in particular provided warm & friendly service), the poolside bartenders & cooks (Scott & Abena were the best), the front desk staff (shout out to Jay) and the many people who cleaned our room and the hotel spotlessly. And the food is excellent!!

Wish I could give a 4 or 5 star review but the following issues would need to be addressed:
They need a backup pump for the water system (Raul did the very best he could with the running water issue for a 30 hour period and reimbursed us for two nights, but seems like having backup equipment may have avoided the problem). Thankfully, they’re on a generator, so the rotating power outages on St. Croix did not affect us at all!
The tractor that clears the seaweed off the beach apparently broke down, so it was only completely cleared on one day the whole week.
Although the hotel has been beautifully renovated since the devastating Hurricane Maria, the roof over the main restaurants needs to be replaced, as there were multiple leaks during an abnormally rainy week.

Again, I deeply apologize as I know this unfortunate event really affected your experience at our hotel. We just spent 12 days at Carina Bay. Next year will be all inclusive but right now it was Hotel only, and had very few Hotel guests since they're not fully operational. For us that was perfect because we were looking for something that didn't have crowds, hustle-bustle, nightlife Etc. We stayed in the hillside Suite rooms, which was an upgrade. It was a wonderful room, very comfortable, nice kitchen, and had a pool for just the hillside Suites. The huge drawback is we had 37 steps to get to our room. So yep every time we left our room or came back it was 37 steps. Other than that it was perfect. What's really outstanding on this hotel is the staff. I'm talking about from General Manager on down to housekeeping and general labor. Every person we encountered was exceptional. Friendly, nice, helpful, and always willing to go out of their way for us. They worked very hard at keeping the beach clean, most people know the sargassum problem is huge. Fortunately when we were there it was starting to get better so we could use the beach and the ocean, and water was super warm. The pool for the hillside Suites and the pool for the other part of the resort were both open and very nice. Lots of lounge chairs although not needed with so few people, clean, nice water. We are really eager to go back next spring when they have their all inclusive operational. Carina Bay is located on the opposite side of the Island from most tourism. If you're the type of person that wants bars, restaurants, shopping, then don't come here. It's very isolated, you would need to rent a car if you want to go anywhere else. They have a casino that my husband and I really enjoyed, we were there about 10 times. The casino is about a ten-minute walk, although they always shuttled us using a golf cart which was so nice.
A few people that really stood out is Dyal the GM, Angela the front desk manager, and Edmund, Jordan, Oleencia, and Kessoon.
Thanks to all for a great trip.

I'm sure this Divi can be made to be a great place to go, but they are not there yet. While up until the last month or so, they had been advertising being fully operational (all inclusive, etc), our trip the week of 11/21-28 proved that was no where near the case. Right now, it is not much more than a very remotely located, very basic hotel with a view.

Booked the trip in Aug 2021 for our honeymoon in Nov 2021. Loved the all inclusive idea and the fact it was adults only. I was contacted a month later saying they could not offer food or drink inclusive services but all other services and amenities would be good to go and was assured that the rooms has ample facilities for food/drink storage and preparation. Of course I had to use any refund we got back for the food/drink services to pay for a rental car since the closest restaurant or store was a good 30 minute drive away.

Here is the main list of issues:

1. Restaurants closed (except for a small snack bar...good for breakfast sandwiches or a pre-boxed salad, but limited hours)
2. Bars closed (except for casino up the street)
3. TV in rooms don't work
4. Phones in rooms don't work
5. WiFi in rooms doesn't work
6. No useful food storage or prep facilities in the rooms
7. Room servicing requested every day but only received twice in 7 day stay
8. Room servicing only restocked things on one of those two visits
9. Asked to have new room closer to the lobby (since we wanted WiFi and were constantly going there for restocking items) but was told nothing available. Ok, the place appears to have 100's of rooms and we were 1 of perhaps 10-15 guests. The place was VERY empty.
10. Hot water in shower or sink has to be run for 20 minutes (yep, not kidding....20 minutes) before it actually becomes warm/hot. What a waist, especially on an island that, I'm told, relies on desalinization for it's water source.

The thing I am MOST upset about is that I believe we were directly lied to about the services and amenities available and current condition of the resort. It was a lot of extra work on our part to actually stay at this "all inclusive resort"

On the good side, the pool and deck area was nice and kept clean and tidy. Everyone we spoke to was nice even though they seemed powerless to resolve issues and only had excuses to offer.

Normally I don’t leave such bad reviews, but this resort was by no means “all inclusive”, and I’ve reached out to their Room Manager and Front Desk Supervisor to rectify my situation, they told me over two weeks ago they'd issue a partial refund, but then they ghosted me, so I feel a review is necessary. Before going here I highly suggest upcoming guests to call and see what the resort has open/available, I wish I would have. The hotel has a nice pool, a fresh coat of paint, and most of the staff were really hustling because they were very short staffed (which I get is unavoidable now with Covid), but this Divi was by NO means “all inclusive”. I feel like we got bait and switched by their advertisements. Being the first guest to experience their not ready for all inclusive, we really overpaid for what we actually got. There was only one restaurant for dinner that served Italian one night then something else the other night, so be ready to eat a lot of mediocre Italian. The food each night was just okay, I'd compare it to a common chain restaurant. The drinks are bottom shelf and they often didn’t have ingredients to make simple cocktails. The coffee shop is basically an espresso machine you’d buy for your house. Their best food was the pool bar, that they advertise as a pizza place, but the pizza oven was never operational. Fortunately they had good sandwiches and mozzarella sticks. There isn’t a spa, and what was supposed to be a spa looked to be storage. The Wifi worked only for our first day, which meant their internet only TVs didn’t work. Our Verizon LTE service was okay, but people with other carriers didn’t fare so well. If we’d have paid 50% less for this Divi, I would say we would have got a good deal for a nice hotel, but unfortunately we paid for a nice all inclusive and that is not what Divi delivered. We ended up driving into Christiansted to get better meals our last day at this resort, and it’s a 30 minute drive so have a car. Fortunately we stayed at the Carambola Beach Resort the rest of our trip which was amazing.

If all that you are looking for is a beach and a bed, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for the resort life where you get pampered for a week, please pass.
This hotel was severely damaged by a hurricane a while back, but rooms were completely restored. The common areas and amenities will be fabulous once fully operational, but that’s not for a while. They expect a full re-opening in Feb 2022 which in my opinion is very wishful thinking. Throughout our stay, staff was so helpful and kind. Here are a few things that happened for you to consider: (1) our room was new, but the bed was crawling with ants. We asked for a new room. After a 1h wait and several phone calls, we were moved to another room. Problem fixed. (2) The room was not cleaned everyday. So, we ended up having to call for this service daily. (3) We were informed before arrival that there were 2 restaurants open…in reality, one is a coffee counter with ready made food that is heated up in the microwave, the other is a snack bar offering fried food at the casino across the street. Nothing else. (4) The beach is not very nice, plus they don’t clean the seaweed daily like they tell you they will do, so you’ll want to rent a car and drive to other beaches. Here are some other thoughts that are more positive: (1) they serve rum punch daily, and it’s pretty good. (2) the pool is great. (3) the occupancy is at most 20% so there are no crowds and (4) as mentioned earlier, the staff is so sweet.

This hotel is a bait and switch! The pictures online are invalid. The resort shows several restaurants that do not exist on the property. The restaurant signs (logos). are strategically placed on bare walls, without an actual restaurant. The only place to eat on the resort is the buffet, which has limited options. The buffet is the size of a work room cafeteria and is only open for breakfast and dinner. I was unable to take advantage of the “all inclusive” for meals and was forced , daily to taxi into town in order to have a decent meal. The wi-fi was down the entire trip (5days). The tv worked off of wifi (no cable service provider), so I was unable to watch tv, the telephones didn’t work, so I was unable to call the front desk or other guest rooms who were in my party. None of the events listed on the entertainment list happened ( no nightly entertainment, nor DJ).

On a positive note, the rooms were remodeled and comfortable.

Where can I begin !!!! Usually when entering resorts you’re greeted with welcome drinks, etc. This is not the case. Eat before you get there because 9/10 food will not be available.

I do appreciate the staff for trying with what they had. Starting with the staff in the hut by the pool: Abser (blk female) & Kayshown (blk cook) they did their best, gave suggestions and assisted ALL guest the same. I can not say the same for the Caucasian red head guy. The way he was with certain guest that resembled him, you’d think they were paying his salary. Everyone didn’t receive the same attention.

Rooms: we were a day late due to the hurricane canceling flights, which they were aware. When it was time for check in, the room wasn’t ready due to the curtains (as they claimed.) The room also didn’t have a full length mirror. I spoke on it to my roomie but we assumed none of the rooms had full length mirrors. To our surprise it was just our room that didn’t have the mirror. I alerted the front desk and was and was told it would be handled right away. Later that night, I mentioned the mirror again, and was told that they had to order it so here I am on vacation and I cannot take it a nice selfie due to not having a full length mirror. I’m almost willing to bet the mirror is still missing from the room with the screws still visible on the walls. That room should’ve never been rented out PERIOD!!!

Food/Drinks: I don’t understand how this was an all inclusive, but it was mostly only buffet or food from the hut, because the other restaurant was not available.
If if you wanted to eat, you had to make sure to get full before 9 or 10 PM because nothing was available after that unless you went to the casino across the street up the hill and that wasn’t for much longer.

Shuttles: for the life of me, I do not understand how they were minimal shuttles for guest. Guest should not have to wait for an hour to be transported to the casino across the street or be told that one is not available. There should be specific drivers and shuttles just to transport back-and-forth to the casino.

Activities and entertainment: the young lady did try her bestest but there was nothing available for guest. There should’ve been a plethora of activities for guests to choose from daily.

The beach looks nothing like the pictures from online. This is total beachfish (catfish.) This is the very first time that I’ve been to a resort and I did not go into the water. The seaweed was not being removed at all.

I really hope that this resort takes all of the guest reviews and make changes because this can really be turned around and at least be a 3.5 or 4 star resort.

We chose the Divi in St Croix because we have stayed at the Divi in Aruba, however the two are night and day.
Divi Carina Bay in St Croix is completely understaffed, and the staff they do have are very over worked.
They are supposed to have more than one restaurant, however they have one restaurant open for dinner with a revolving menu and there were out of the most popular items on the menu.
For a Divi all inclusive, this was appalling!
The best part of the trip - the staff….. except for one
Bethany is the bartender at the pool bar, she is most amazing. Always has a smile on her face and never gets frustrated when it gets busy. Best personality and she makes it fun for everyone!
Rachel is part of the wait staff and helps out at the bar. Sweetest thing ever, even there on her day off to help out.
Brenda is also part of the wait staff. She is an awesome server. Friendly to everyone, no matter has terrible they treat her.
We only had issues with one staff member,
Alena - she was supposedly working the bar, however she couldn’t handle it when there were more than 5 people at the bar. She was incredibly rude and incompetent and should never be customer facing.
The rooms were adequate, however we never saw our housekeeper. We just had to go raid the housekeeping closet and handle it ourselves.
Now for the beach area…..
Where do I begin……….
They obviously recently did some renovations, however the beach is not the place for construction debris! Enough said,
The seaweed was uncontrollable. Instead of grinding it into the sand, they should have removed the piles from the sand.
This was by far the absolute worst all inclusive I have ever stayed at.
I am extremely disappointed with th e Divi and sorry I wasted my money.
