The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa boasts a prime beachfront location that guests adore, complemented by a vibrant atmosphere with nightly music and events. Enjoyable enough property, just don't make the same mistake I made if you want a nice relaxing week. That mistake was being there Christmas week. Just wanted a nice retreat for my wife and I, wasn't even thinking it would family city.

Room upgraded to one of the ocean view units, great view, nicely furnished, comfortable, clean, but sorely lacking on outlets. Being the geek I am, I bring my own power strip so I can charge multiple dive cam batteries, so it was ok, but the location the of available outlet was awkward.

Being Lifetime Bonvoy Titanium provided breakfast buffet daily for us, so that was a pleasant enough expense avoider, also received $10 daily F&B credit, good for part of an evening beverage.

Be prepared to rise prior to sunrise to mark your beach chaise(s) or you lose. Of course you could opt for one of the $700/day cabana tent things and not worry about that.

Staff was great, lunch offerings from the pool bar are limited variety, moderately priced, but plenty good. Plenty of parking if you have a rental car.

I've been to Grand Cayman over a dozen times, but my last visit was not too long after this property opened (didn't stay here) and boy howdy, the 7 Mile Beach hotel strip has grown up. You used to be able to see the beach from the road, but not anymore. Development has run amok and it's wall to wall buildings now.

It's still a nice walk up and down the beach, have a giggle and see how cramped the beach chairs are at the Ritz, and smile that you have some elbow room (not a lot, some) at the Westin (and that you saved some $$ or points).

We had our second stay at this property in late June/early July 2019, celebrating my husband's birthday. Like our first stay on property, it was great. I'm Titanium for Life in the Bonvoy program and appreciate that Candacy Toney sent me a welcome email prior to our arrival, as she did before our previous stay. I let her know of our anticipated arrival time and that we would be celebrating my husband's birthday while at the resort. I actually met Ms. Toney at check-in and she was very welcoming.

We were upgraded to a beautiful ocean view room and a bottle of champagne and some birthday desserts were left in our room, along with a nicely handwritten card. The room had a coffee maker, mini-fridge, and a safe. Bedding was wonderful, and there were nice touches like oils to help you sleep better!

We had breakfast each morning as one of my arrival perks. The continental breakfast was filling with eggs, pastries, and fruit. Staff brought tea and juice and kept the empty plates cleared.

We enjoyed the Bonvoy reception in the afternoons that included wine offerings and some very tasty appetizers! One afternoon we played bingo by the pool while enjoying our wine and my husband won one of the games and won some drink vouchers. We had a small issue one evening and I just wanted to bring it to the attention of management and did not expect any compensation, but we were given some food and beverage credit certificates. We were sad to find out that Cayman lemonade was no longer one of the happy hour drinks.

The beach is probably the best stretch on Seven Mile Beach. There are attendants who will get an umbrella and set it up for you at the chairs of your choice. There is a towel hut where you can get your towels, and get fresh ones during the day if needed. While there are many chairs on the beach it never felt crowded. There is beach service available for food and beverages. There is an activities desk where you can book tours and watersports, but we did not utilize their services. While at the resort, preparations were underway for their 4th of July celebration. There was someone carving a fabulous sand eagle!

I think it would be helpful if the hotel provided a list of amenities that the daily resort fee covers, and it would be nice if the fee could be reduced or a little something extra be added for those of us at the Titanium for Life level.

We had a rental car and had no trouble finding a parking spot when we returned to the resort after dinner each evening. There aren't a lot of restaurants near the hotel, but there area few across the street, as well as an operator who has snorkel trips to Stingray City.

We are scheduled to stay at the resort in early May 2020, but I think that won't happen due to COVID19. We'll rebook to come another time as we love Grand Cayman and the property.

My wife and I travelled here with our 2 year old daughter and just returned to reality after spending 5 wonderful nights at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort. As other reviewers had mentioned, Tara and Candacy really helped to ensure everything went smoothly in advance of arrival. The room had a beautiful view of seven mile beach, was very nicely updated, well kept, and worked great for our small family as it was a king bed with a couch that can pull out, but we converted the couch into a toddler bed. The daily breakfast buffet was one of the best I have had at any resort, and the service there was top notch (Nancy in particular), in line with the rest of the hotel. The housekeepers were excellent throughout the stay, and worked around our daughter’s nap schedule to never miss a cleaning; we especially appreciated Marjorie who helped us on multiple occasions with an off cycle cleaning or request for additional towels.

There are a few really good places nearby the resort within walking distance that may help fellow travelers:
1) “Cost U Less” where we picked up some tangerines, other snacks, water, bread, and peanut butter which was really helpful with our daughter as going out to eat for every meal wasn’t always the best option.
2) Plaza across the street: Three different restaurants are right across the street as well as a liquor store. All were really good, and worth a try if you are looking for something off the property and don’t have a car.
3) Seven Mile Burger: This is in the Governor’s Plaza, and it is great! Burgers are fantastic, truffle fries are great, and the grilled mahi sandwich was really good. It was also one of the most reasonably priced meals we found in the area and you can call ahead for carry out.

Overall, we would highly recommend this resort and the fantastic team who manage this hotel!

We booked an excursion through the hotel concierge and tried to eat a sandwich that my wife picked up from an outside restaurant at an available table in the lobby immediately before the transportation was to arrive at the hotel. We were immediately met by an employee who insisted we leave the lobby before we even opened our sandwiches. Even though we were guests of the Westin, we were forced to leave the hotel and eat outside in the parking lot with my 5 year old daughter while waiting for transportation to the offsite excursion. On another of the excursions that my wife and daughter took that was arranged through the hotel, my wife felt that the tour guides were rather rude and made the excursion less than enjoyable. When she left less than a satisfactory tip, one of the tour guides told her if that was all she was giving, she could just keep the tip, which she ended up doing.

On another occasion, my 5 year old daughter was playing on the luggage cart outside the lobby while we were waiting for transportation from the hotel. When I turned my head to look to see if our transportation was arriving, the doorman rudely told me to keep my eye on my daughter.

We also were on the beach for 6 days while there. We had to arrive around 5:45am each morning to end up getting the last available chair on the front row on the beach. A number of guests were apparently coming down in the middle of the night to leave items on chairs to "reserve" them. We heard numerous complaints from other guests about the difficulty in getting beach chairs each day. One guest told us she complained to the hotel manager but we never saw any improvement while we were there. Although the beach attendants on the beach and those bringing food and drinks were pleasant and friendly, it was not unusual to go an hour or two without seeing anyone. The drinks were also fairly expensive.

Due to the premium pricing on the rooms and drinks during the Christmas holdays and the poor service from some (but not all) of the employees, we plan to stay elsewhere when we come back in May.

Hello Bill, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa. Our goal is to always provide a luxurious, relaxing getaway for our guests, and we are disappointed to hear of the various issues that impacted your family’s vacation. We empathize with your displeasure stemming from these multiple lapses in courteous service and rest assured, your feedback will be reviewed both internally and externally. Although we have one of the widest and most expansive portions of Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, exclusively available to our guests, the front row of beach chairs does become reserved relatively quickly during our extremely busy festive period. For this, we can only apologize. We hope you will reconsider and give us a chance to regain your trust when you visit in May. Travel Well, Jim Mauer General Manager

We stayed here for five consecutive nights and have Ambassador Elite status. We were disappointed in many details that were missing during our stay. The check-in person was very friendly so that was a great start. We were told after the first night we would need to change rooms and that he identified an ideal room for us with beach access/patio like we had the first night. This did not occur and in fact our check-in time for the next day was dramatically delayed and we needed to speak to the manager to finally get a room period. The room we were promised never came to pass. The delay was hours. Trying to get our complimentary beach towels that day was like pulling teeth. On a positive note, the beach itself is fantastic. It is long, wide and the sand is perfect. There is a roped off swimming area and water sports right beside the swimming area. The water is crystal clear. Three rafts were handy for kids and adults. The breakfast buffet was pretty decent and the restaurants on site had decent food although expensive. Our toilet did not work on day one and we needed to phone the front desk to get it repaired. Housekeeping was inconsistent during our entire stay. Lack of water delivery each day - inconsistent. Approved for late checkout but housekeeping came by three times that morning to see when we were checking out. There were more details that were not met. For a first class resort/hotel it was not up to standard. The location on Seven Mile Beach is really excellent.

Whilst we’re so thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our peerless location, fun recreational activities, and expansive dining options, I t’s disheartening to learn that other areas of your stay failed to impress you. Let’s start out by saying both resorts are in Grand Cayman so they cannot be bad but there are major differences between the 2. I stayed at the Weston. This year due to wife bs last year the Marriott
Marriott lives breathes and eats Marriott vs Weston is still plodding along in their penny pinching mode and have not accepted that they need to change or be done with it
Yes the beach is poor at the Marriott but the people working it make up for it 10 times over vs the Weston has people working it but they are not handing out water and fresh fruit and asking what else they can do for you. You have to call them over and when talking with them they tell u they are standing around looking for something to do
For 65 bucks a day u may think you would get more than a few disgruntled workers bringing u a drink or lunch
If I look back at pictures I took this year at the Weston vs last year at the Marriott I only find 2 at the Weston vs 37 at the Marriott. Great people at the Marriott that made your trip what u wanted it to be. A fantastic vacation vs a pain in the tail employee at the Weston that made my vacation poor at best
Breakfast. Great at both locations. Weston full buffet and Marriott has crapes and such
Lunch. Same at both. Order off the menu and pay up
Dinner well there are probably a few restaurants off the site that will due and the 2.50 us bus takes u there anyway so both are the same. Limited store across or just up the street for liquors and soda and chips and such
Weston did put me in ocean view room vs Marriott never has seemed to do that in the 15 years going down. Rooms were equal
Did get charged 15 bucks for extra coffee as they had not cleaned the room by 5 at the Weston so when we went out I left a note with 4 dollar tip for a couple of extra coffee packets. They sent up room service for some stupid reason n I asked several times to get it removed. Told it would be both times and was still there when leaving. Penny pinching
Weston charged 100 bucks for 2 for dinner and watch super bowl. Tv went out twice during 2nd 1/2 and was out for 3-5 min each time. Asked for some points to cover as we missed the end of the game basically. Huh. Points Weston penny pinching
So would I stay here again. Probably not. Sooner stay with Marriott but we will see
Rating for Marriott 5/5
Rating for Weston 1/5. Grow up
1 st shot Weston
All the rest Marriott note how they are all smiling and enjoying life

Our trip was fabulous. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, caring, and the feeling of making our trip full of memories. We are Platinum members with Marriott, on our arrival we were upgraded to a partial ocean view, free breakfast each morning, and daily meal coupons. All the staff from the start till the end of our visit did an expectation job to make our trip enjoyable. The resort is well maintained, multiple activities to enjoy at the resort or near by. Many suggestions on what attractions to visit and how to get there. Use the public transit system to get from point A to B, it is inexpensive and comes every 8-10 minutes out front of resort.

Enjoy the beach first thing in the morning or later in the day, it does get busy! Enjoy the happy hour and daily activities the resort offers.

All the folks of Grand Cayman are very respectful, helpful, and compassionate. It is one of our favorite islands we ever visited. Looking forward to another return.

Stayed at the Westin resort for the week from Christmas to New Years. While quite busy and very expensive, we had a great trip and enjoyed everything the resort had to offer. Excellent food and service and with a very easy and efficient layout. Location near the middle is 7 mile beach was handy with most everything a short $20 cab ride away. The service was super friendly. Only real challenge was finding a lounger on the beach as most people staked them out early. Once afternoon hit, it was easier to grab one. On site sports rentals offered easy access to snorkeling gear, paddle boards, jet skis and honor cats plus a variety of boat trips. Other bonus was the hibiscus spa which was excellent. We had several massages with Simone and she is a superior masseuse! Thanks Simone! Overall a great time! We will stay again next time we are in Grand Cayman.

Good location, hotel service lacking, lobby seating area and sushi area has bugs that bite, beach staff slow and hard to find, dirty glasses and room after repeated requests to remedy. Hibiscus Spa was excellent! Food was average and the staff insisted we need reservations at dinner time although there was only one other table occupied. Don’t sit on the lobby S shaped couches. Flea like bugs bit my friend two different days when we saw them we reported it. The room cleaning is bare minimum. There were stains and sticky stuff in the drawers, end tables, phone, ice bucket/cube and glasses were also filthy. When it rained the last cleaning the floor at the entry literally growled at a group of guests coming into escape the rain because she was mopping. Kirk was the only person at the door that greeted us, helped us find a pharmacy and a good attitude. The staff will literally argue with you and say they cannot hear you, because their phones have so much static and interference when you raise your voice and speak slower they say don’t yell at me. We went in person after that. Same results. Our glasses sat there for 4 days straight visibly dirty until I washed one myself on the last day out of necessity. The beach ambassadors stand in the corner playing hacky sack while we have to carry out our chairs across the beach and find a working umbrella, go back and get towels, go hunt down servers. The beach is beautiful and had a nice breeze you could not feel at the most basic pool usually full of kid but a lot colder than the ocean. There should be separate areas so you are not constantly having someone splashing you or in your conversation. There are loose chickens, roosters, cats and birds you also have to contend with as soon as you walk outside. All the shops were closed every Sunday so when the down pour came for a few hours, we were lucky the spa had one open spot.

7 Mile Beach is close to perfection. The water is clear and warm. The sand is soft and not rocky. The Westin lies right on this beach. You will have access to chairs, towels, and an umbrella. We never had a problem finding chairs. Food at Tortuga beach restaurant is tasty and arrives quickly after ordering. Self-parking is included in the ridiculous resort fee. That sums up the pros of the hotel IMO.

The cons: Housekeeping missed our room one day. Because the hotel is right on the beach, your room will get very sandy without daily vacuuming. The thermostat in our room did not allow for changing the temperature and it was freezing. There is a lot of room noise from the corridor and the gap under the door is unusually large. Fernando’s is not currently open for dinner and the only casual option is Tortuga, which if you ate there for lunch, is not a great option. Food and beverage at the hotel is extremely expensive. Be prepared for sticker shock. The beach ambassadors did not do anything other than give us towels. We did see them helping some families with umbrellas or finding chairs but that offer was never extended to us. Towel service for the beach/pool ends at 7pm even though the pool closes at 11pm. They told us we had to call housekeeping for towels after 7pm. The pool area gets really dark at night and it is very easy to trip over small ledges around the pool. Security at the hotel also appears lacking. There are multiple doors to the outside that are unlocked until 11pm. Anyone can access the hotel during this time. Wouldn’t it be better to require a key card at all times? While we were not on the first floor, I would not recommend one of those rooms. The corridor is used by everyone who needs to use the elevators, the rooms open directly to ground level, and some rooms are right next to unlocked doors to outside.

Overall, stay here for the location. Luxury it is not.
