We stayed here for 2 nights en route to Tobago and 2 nights on the way back. It was selected by our Travel Counsellor as a small, quiet hotel handy for the airport. As it was only for stopovers we didn’t pay a lot of attention but we were very pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed our stay. The 1st impression was that our room was fairly basic but it was very clean and had everything you need. Big balcony with a sea view from which you could see the cruise ships coming and going, quiet efficient aircon, fridge, huge bed and smart bathroom.
The staff were friendly and accommodating and the restaurant and food wouldn’t let down a much more expensive establishment. Breakfasts, dinners and bar snacks were all really excellent with a huge choice and eating while enjoying the view was very pleasurable. The area around the hardly used pool was lovely for sunbathing with comfortable loungers and easy access to the bar.
It is not luxurious but what they offer is done very well indeed. If you aren’t bothered about being on the beach this hotel would be a good choice.
We had one rather noisy night in the bar with a high spirited BA crew and one night when the restaurant was very busy and service was slow but the staff did their best and remained charming and helpful despite the pressure they were under.

This hotel is located on a hillside overlooking Dickenson Bay. There is a shuttle service to the beach below. Several air crews stay here so it is quite busy. Reception and security staff were all very friendly and helpful. My room was nice enough with a balcony looking out to sea. The bed was very comfortable. The room contained a fridge, a kettle, iron and key safe. The bathroom was a little basic but functional and very clean. Air conditioning was very effective. The main restaurant serves good quality food but staff were not very friendly and I felt a little rushed to vacate my table. Breakfast was a la carte and of a high quality. The pool is quite small with a fairly small sun deck. There is a small gym based in a converted room. This hotel is fine for a short stay but maybe not so good for a longer one.

If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxed hotel with stunning views and great rooms, this is for you. Tradewinds is on the hillside overlooking Dickenson Bay in the north west of the island. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped, all with a lovely terrace with views over the sea. Beach is about 10-15 minutes walk away but, be warned, the walk back is all uphill and hard going, instead get a taxi from outside the EZ Grab at Antigua Village. The pool, restaurant and bar area are lovely and the food is really good, especially the burgers and quesadillas, if slightly pricey. The restaurant does get busy at weekends so book a table, or you can order to eat in your room. Kerissa and the staff at reception are really helpful and friendly, the staff in the bar and dining area too are really helpful too, but unfortunately the service is definitely on ‘Antigua time’, 2.5 hours for two courses, but, you’re on holiday right? Can be a bit frustrating when you’ve reminded staff several times about food or drink orders that aren’t delivered but that’s really the only negative and pretty much standard for Antiguan service. The sun deck is a very small area and the comfortable loungers tend to get ‘reserved’ by cabin crew staying in the hotel, so get down early. All in all, we’ve had 2 great weeks here and would definitely go back again.

Absolutely disgusted by the room which is of piss poor standard, extremely dated, musty and not cleaned properly. After a very long day of travel, I was met with no hot water and a broken shower. I am uncertain as to how this could have been missed by the hotel personnel. Are these rooms not supposed to be cleaned between guests especially the showers? Makes you wonder whether the rooms are actually cleaned.

Ordered room service which took 1.5 hrs to arrive due to a glitch in their system where my order was either cancelled or not received ) It was only when I called to inquire about the status of the order did they apologize and inform me of the glitch. Upon receiving my meal, there was mold on the dessert. This is unacceptable, as such contaminated food should never ever be present in a commercial kitchen or served to anyone. Makes you wonder about the state and hygiene of the kitchen.

Noise- the room that I am placed in is just off the reception and appears to be next to either a storage or maintenance room, as such I have been subjected; every now and then throughout the night to loud banging or movement of what sounds like heavy furniture

All in all based on this preliminary experience I would give this place a flat zero and I am looking forward to leaving soon. First impressions are lasting and this is definitely a poor one.

This hotel is situated on a hilltop 15 mins walk above the beach and so has great views, particularly at sunset.
I have been coming here for over 25 years with work and it has failed to keep up with standards. The plumbing in the rooms is pretty poor, with the showers being almost unusable - either a pathetic drip reminiscent of an old man with prostate problems, or if there is sufficient water, then the temperature hard or impossible to get to a bearable range.
The staff are a little on the abrupt side at times, although in this part of the world, that seems to be the norm.
Food in the restaurant is not too bad, but service can be very slow. I have fallen asleep at the table before waiting for food.
If a hotel in Antigua cannot offer a beach, then everything else needs to be at the top of its game. Unfortunately not the case here.

Stayed in room 32 for one night as the very loud full Moon festival was happening next door to our AirBNB.

Staff was virtuous. Room was fine - dated but comfortable. Bed was fine comfort wise - not great but enough to crash hard after an early and long day flying.

However. The shower was terrible. Water pressure non existent. Less than half of the water holes in the shower head had water coming out. Literally couldn’t get the soap off bc there was no water.

We ate off property so I can’t speak to the restaurant.

I am a frequent guest at Trade Winds Hotel in Antigua. There is a lways a guard available so you always feel safe. The rooms are clean and spacious and carries a small fridge, the food is great and the ambience is relaxing. You must try the steak served with mac and cheese from The Bayhouse Restaurant and Bar!!! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, the service is great and the customer service is amazing. I have grown to know the staff and I appreciate everyone in his/her unique way. The staff takes the time to learn you by name and when communicating with you, they never forget to acknowledge it. As simple as this may seem , it goes a long way in making a person feel special. Not only do they treat you like family, but they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable while ensuring that they display a high level of professionalism and genuine appreciation for their guests. Trade Winds is my "home" away from home. I would like to make a special mention of the following staff: Christa, Adriano, Kimsheba, Francesca, Samantha and Christina. Thank you guys for your hospitality and caring nature.

A lovely hotel with really friendly staff situated in a quiet location. Great pool and adjoining restaurant. Staff arranged our Rapid Antigen tests in the hotel ahead of moving onto Barbados, nothing was too much trouble.

On arrival our room was unfortunately not immediately ready due to an issue with the air conditioning but the manager was completely open with us and arranged complimentary cocktails and evening meal whilst the excellent room was prepared. All staff were so friendly and always smiling,

Antigua and Tradewinds seemed a world away from the busy and hectic Barbados. I would highly recommend Tradewinds which is regularly used by BA and Virgin crews

I'd give ten stars if there were, best stay experience ever.
Location; The hotel is set high up with amazing views. Check in/out was easy and fuss free. Every person we met over our stay were wonderfully friendly and welcoming from all the staff and other guests. Might need a car to get about but be careful roads aren’t like home. However Taxi’s are easy to request. Some awesome beaches to be visited.
Restaurant food; lots of choices and very tasty might have to wait a bit but well worth the wait. Lots of cocktails at the bar to choose from made to order not forgetting the rum punch.
Rooms are spacious comfy and clean, daily housekeeping keeping tea/coffee and toiletries topped up. If there is anything left out just ask, the staff are ready and willing to please.
A special thank you to Mr Mark, as our flight home was late in the day, after check out they stored our bags while we were aloud to stay and relax by the pool, and facilities to change ready to return home.
Would definitely recommend, love to return sometime.

This is a review for the service of the restaurant ONLY; we did not visit the hotel. We were a group of 13 visiting the restaurant. We were all completely aware that accommodating a group of that size with no advance reservation would take a little time to get us seated. The attitude that we were met with, given our patience, was something that we didn't expect. It seemed as of we were the biggest inconvenience the restaurant ever faced and providing quality service was an afterthought. When informing a waitress that a moth landed in a glass of wine that one of our party was drinking from, we were rudely reminded that we would still need to pay for the glass and never given a replacement glass (or even asked if we would like one) until quite a while later when we told the waitress that we indeed wanted a new one. For me that tainted the entire visit, but we decided to continue on and focus on each other. It took almost 15 minutes after our dishes were cleared away to be presented with the check

By this time you might have already stopped reading but bear with me. We decided to patronize the restaurant once more by ordering takeout. At the instruction of the person taking the order, we waited about 45 minutes to head over the the restaurant. On arrival we were told that our order was not even put through and that we would have to wait for another 25 minutes. At the 25 minute mark, the food was still not ready and there was no indication given of when it would be. We ended up leaving having wasted more than an hour, with nothing to show for it.

The lackluster in-person service, coupled with this botched attempt at ordering and actually receiving takeout has sealed the deal for me. Any establishment that requires me to beg for reasonable service is one that I will never enter again.

Hi. Its close, but the way Antigua is designed its not walking distance from this hotel. The shuttle should be able to take you as I remember seeing it nearby, but not close enough to walk back and forth from. I hope this helps! Enjoy!
