Keemala harnesses the history of fictitious ancient Phuket settlers and incorporates the story of four different clans within the resort. Keemala’s style blends the indigenous stories of the clans with the decadence of an upscale resort. The architecture is a stark contrast to most hotel accommodation. Keemala’s fantastic cottages, tree houses and pool villas are designed around the unique topographical conditions. Set into the hillside and making use of slopes offering sea views, streams, waterfalls and indigenous trees.

A significant part of the Keemala ethos is to celebrate and cultivate Thai culture. This is strongly perceived in the spa. Treatments and wellness programs are being meticulously designed to utilize bygone techniques, natural herbs used as medicinal remedies in conjunction with old-fashioned pampering. The eight treatment rooms will offer a haven of renewal and the spa will also offer a Thai massage pavilion, steam and sauna rooms along with a fitness room with views of the sea and lush topography, yoga and meditation spaces making Keemala an ideal destination for retreats.

As an extension of the wholesome spirit of Keemala, cuisine offered will also be organic and locally sourced and grown where possible. The menus will incorporate healthy, nutritious and above all delicious meals. Keemala will offer three outlets for dining, the main restaurant, a pool bar, a smaller wine cellar ideal for small parties and meetings and destination dining will be offered to those guests who would like to enjoy the ambience of somewhere distinct, perhaps beside the waterfall, in a separate sala in the grounds or in the comfort of the villa or cottage.

Keemala hotel captivates many travelers with its luxurious, uniquely designed rooms, although a few guests have called out the need for improved privacy and soundproofing. Nestled in a location reminiscent of Bali's serenity, the hotel offers picturesque views that, alongside its serene and romantic atmosphere, contribute to a tranquil experience. While its amenities, including private pools and villas, receive high marks for luxury, some guests suggest additional lighting and room enhancements. Service at Keemala is generally acclaimed for its attentiveness, but it's not without occasional critiques of inconsistency. Despite the praise for its cleanliness and the exceptional experiences provided, several travelers question the hotel's value, considering the high cost.

This was the 2nd of the four hotels that we stayed in when we were in Thailand and it was outstanding! From the excellent service to the stunning location and the 5 star rated food. Everything was pretty much perfect. They just want to go the extra mile to please you. It's also very environmentally friendly, they have done away with 99% single use plastic and plan to go 100% in the next few weeks. It's not cheap but nothing this good ever is. If you fancy a trip down into the town then they provide a shuttle bus 2-3 times a day. Theres plenty of places to eat in the town. The down side is that its fully of rubbish with discarded plastic everywhere. We can't understand why they don't spend money keeping it clean? Considering that tourism must be the bulk of their income? There are also places in town promoting entertainment at the expense of animals; like drugged tigers, monkey shows & elephant rides (No elephant wants to be ridden & is beaten into submission until it eventually yields).
The hotel we would definitely go back for, the town being the state its in? probably not.

My wife and I recently stayed at a Tree Pool House at the Keemala for two nights. We were in room 306 which is at the top of the resort. On arrival we were greeted by Peach, who looked after us during our stay. To say that she was attentive is an understatement, from getting the buggy to us to move around the resort to booking our table for dinner, she was excellent. The food both at breakfast and dinner was delicious .
Our Tree house room was large and very comfortable set over two floors, the lower leading out to our private pool, the upper leading out on to a balcony, which only had a large double hanging seat rather than loungers to relax on.
The main pool area is lovely and relaxing with a waterfall cascading into it.
There are a few negatives about this resort, you can't walk around as it is built on a steep hill you need to call for a buggy.
The resort is not as secluded as possibly the photos implied and the people from room 307 could see us in our pool should they wish. We could also see into the outside shower of the room below us. You are also looking over the town of Kamala and the bay.
Overall an excellent stay but having stayed in more exclusive resorts previously we feel that Keemala didn't quite live up to our expectations and possibly over-priced. Would we recommend a stay here ? Yes 2/3 night is sufficient.

Our stay at Keemala was absolutely perfect, there is not one detail that is not completely thought through for your visit. The resort itself is absolutely stunning, the staff were attentive and amazing (EVERY single last one) and the food is scrumptious, even the check in was a memorable experience! We stayed in a Clay Pool cottage and it was beautiful inside out- with special note of the pool and washroom (though really it was all amazing). If you want to feel a part of nature while being absolutely spoiled, here is the ONLY place to stay. I don't have one negative thing to say about Keemala except that I wish we had booked more than 2 nights as it was absolute paradise! Thank you so much for such a memorable, romantic and amazing experience. We will absolutely be back!

Yes, it is. This is more than likely not like any hotel you have every stayed in before. It is NOT inexpensive, it is very expensive at 600 USD per night including breakfast. The staff are extremely good. The food in restaurants is not good enough for such an expensive hotel. Their European dishes need work. There are no excuses at this level. There are hotels in the area that cost much more. They do wedding ceremonies, which must be awesome. pool is good with in pool bar. You will keep fit if you walk around the place instead of using their excellent golf buggy service.

I realise it's some time between staying and writing this but my family and I often think of Keemala with fond memories. We stayed in a Birds Nest room which was just amazing. From being greeted at the airport to being dropped off at our next stop, the service was fantastic. We travelled with our two children aged 6 and 8 at the time. They were warmly welcomed at the hotel. The manager and ladies in the restaurant took a particular shine to my son and doted on him. The manager even gave him and my daughter a Keemala slingshot each as a gift (sadly my son's was taken off him at the airport as it was in his hand luggage and considered a weapon 😬) We asked for extra bedding for the children which was provided free of charge and we used the lounger pads for beds. This worked well. It would have cost extra to have extra mattresses sent up.
We ate in the restaurant on the first evening and the food was fantastic, breakfast was always a feast too. We used the shuttle service to the beach, this was quick and easy and stress free. We used the pool and pretty much had it to ourselves. October is still the off season so the hotel was quiet. We enjoyed happy hour lounging next to the pool and were sad we weren't there on a Wednesday when the drinks are free!
Overall we loved Keemala, we couldn't fault it. Hopefully it won't be long before we can go back!

This resort was supposed to be in a semi jungle in keema resort, which provided 4 ducks and 2 buffaloes, together with birds in trees and crickets at night. Most of the rooms are in like pods inthe semi hillside. Some are duplex. Each pod had their own small pool in front of it, which had no handles to walk down steps into and in some no sun Ed’s to lie on. To get to the room you had to climb about 100 stone narrow steps and returning when dark about 80 steps. After two two nights we got moved where a buggy was able to take to restaurant. About 7.30 each morning, woken up ny staff brushing leaves etc outside. Buggies and carts very noisy all day long. Hotel advised not really suitable for children, uttered wereplenty of them. Not a relaxing stay. Staff did their best and food good, after dinner, no where to have a drink and look at view of the bay, so off to bed. Also in your own pool, this bubbled day and night also like a jaccuzi.

All in all would not recommend this “not in the jungle” hotel and expensive with no atmosphere. Save your money.

We stopped here at short notice to be able to fly out of Phuket early morning.

On arrival we were taken up to reception by a eclectic buggy. Check in was on a platform out of the main reception area. We arrived late morning and the room was not ready so we had drinks and a light lunch outside looking over to the sea, great view.

After that we were taken to the "room". It was a Clay Pool Cottage. This has a large bedroom with a large bathroom and a lobby area. Because of the hilly location there are steps down to the room and the room is on several different levels. Something to remember in the middle of the night.

There was also a balcony, although the view from it was obdured by vegetation, although one can hardly moan too much about "greenery". There was also a pool, c. 9 meters by 4 meters so a lot bigger than many although it was shaded so quite cool but ok.

As mentioned the terrain is hilly and you have to be reasonably fit to walk around the place. There are electric buggies to take you around if needed.

It is a very green place with lots of trees and vegetation.

We chose to have our evening meal in side due to the last 3 evening meals in Thailand being subject to heavy rain and thunder. However this was not an issue here as it turned out.

Very nice meal, with wine and friendly service. Like everywhere we stayed in Thailand the staff were just great and a lesson in service for the rest of the world to note.

I see comments have been made about how good the breakfast was but I cannot comment as we left too early to have this.

This review is based on a one night experience. Given my personal preferences I would think 3 nights would be all I would want, but I am sure it would be very satisfactory to many who might want to stay longer

This place will meet all your expectations. We had a birds nest pool villa. The pool was actually larger than expected, with jacuzzi jets and seating at one end (but it's not heated, just FYI). Plenty of space, beautiful and comfortable bed, pillow menu that you'll receive in advance. I'm allergic to down and feathers and they made sure to put hypoallergenic bed linens in the room before I arrived. You'll have plenty of room in this villa, including a large bathroom. The bathroom is a little too dark for me, even without all the lights on. It's OK until you need to apply makeup at night when there's no sunlight coming through the windows. It's very quiet at night here, a peaceful place to be all around, although the villas aren't quite as secluded as they appear in the official pictures. Security was very good. Service at the bar was friendly and the cocktails are excellent, with a choice of some local liquors. The wine list is good too, including some Thai wines (which were good!). Both the breakfast in the restaurant and the in-room breakfast are wonderful, and the dinner menu at the restaurant is extensive with Indian, Thai and Italian options. There's something for everyone here. We both had the traditional Thai massage at the spa. It's pricey by Thailand standards but we really enjoyed it. The entire hotel campus/grounds is beautiful and well maintained. They are on top of everything here. Our departing flight got changed to an earlier time at the last minute (and then it was delayed once we got to the airport - thanks VietJet) and the staff made sure we got to the airport on time. (The resort is about a 45 minute drive from the airport. We booked the private airport transfer both ways and were happy with it.) We spent our anniversary here and definitely want to return - it's a very romantic choice for a honeymoon or anniversary. Also, it's a Small Luxury Hotel of the World, so if you are an Invited member you'll likely get an upgrade or extra perks. We used a gift card towards our payment and the front desk staff handled this seamlessly. No complaints on anything.

Writing this review from the perspective of a couple who's travel budget never includes 5* stays and stayed here as a special occasion for our 30ths. We stayed for 2 nights on a "dine and stay" package which I belive might have been a special package following covid. We stayed in a Clay pool cottage and had 2 dinners, cocktail and canapé and afternoon tea included.

We thought our experience was fantastic! Was is pricey - yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. Its not just the stunning views and accommodation but all the little added extras. When we arrived we were greeted with flower garlands and during check in received a lemon tea and Thai snack. When we arrived at our clay pool cottage I fell in love immediately. The bed with all the pillows we pre-selected (yes you can pre-select your pillow type), the coffee facilities, the (not so mini) bar with free soft drinks, our terrace with infinity pool and a bath that was to die for along with an outdoor (and indoor) shower. All the products supplied were first class (again you can request extras e.g shaving kit) and my favourite was the complimentary mosquito repellent (I went through 3 bottles of this). The villa was immaculate, bed comfortable, shower and bath perfect.

The resort is also amazing. The scenery is just beautiful. The common area pool was quiet and we had the pool bar to ourselves (allowing plenty pics at the waterfall). The bar does happy hour where drinks are 2for1 which is a great deal and the quality of the drinks was fantastic. We enjoyed walking around but you can call for a buggy any time and they are pretty quick getting to you.

The restaurant is also fantastic. Breakfast is wonderful with a buffet of continental foods, including every flavour or jam, and you can order anything you like from the menu.
Dinner was also fantastic. We had roses laid on our table (nice surprise) and service was excellent. We had scallops, beef, and the indian set. All were great. We had it included so had set menus. This also meant we were not bothered by price. It would be expensive to eat here every night. However you can walk into the local town in 10/15 minutes (although it is hilly) and get local food there.

At check out, reception helped sort a taxi (bolt) as there was a landslide so transport was a bit tricky. Overall, yes this place is very expensive (especially for thailand) but if you can get a deal or go out of season (or just have plenty money to spend) I would reccomend staying here for at least 2 nights (longer if you can). Particularly if you have a special occasion.

This hotel is the best I've ever stayed in the service alone is worth the price...as soon we arrived we were greeted with the biggest smiles and as we were checking in we were offered coke towels and green tea. It was a lovely touch and did not feel rushed at all. We arrived early and our room was not ready yet so they allowed us to lay by the pool whilst sorting out the rooms. As soon as they were done we went up the the villa and it was perfect. The villa was clean and very modern the minibar was filled with drinks and snacks that's were complimentary and a nice little card saying enjoy your honey moon from the staff with personal names and details on it which felt like they went the extra mile. The bath was run with rose petals in it and there was fresh fruit available.

The staff brought a snack for us every night and we couldn't wait to see what the snack of the day was when we got back from being out. The towels and bits in the bathroom were changed daily.

The food was amazing and I looked forward to eating here everyday breakfast was lovely and dinner was amazing, including the service. I can't wait to come back
