The main benefit of the Clode Sound Motel is that it's in Charlottetown; that municipality is surrounded on 3 sides by the southern section of Terra Nova National Park (and by Clode Sound on the 4th side). That means it's much closer to the Visitor Center and trails within the park, and you don't have to drive back in from Port Blandford (a small town just beyond the southern park boundary) or Clarenville (a much larger city that's even further south). Their website proudly cites their winning the provincial Golden Orchid Award in 1992. Alas, but their facilities seem to be of that vintage. The walls are drab paneling. The toilet bowl had very dark water stains. The window treatments were torn and broken. The beds were average in comfort. There was a problem with the plumbing, so the cold water wasn't cold much of the time. On the plus side, the unit had a kitchenette. There was a half-size refrigerator with freezer, a countertop gas stove with 2 burners, a toaster, and a coffee maker. There was NO microwave. There was a desk and a dining room table. We stayed at other facilities in the province for similar (or lower) prices that were much better. So, I'd have to say the primary selling point is location, but not the facilities themselves. Ate once at the restaurant for supper. Prices were average, and so were the serving sizes and quality of the food. (The other time, we ate at the Terra Nova Gold Resort's restaurant in Port Blandford).

Well folks, if all you need is a place to rest your head, then go ahead - stay at the Clode Sound Motel.

Otherwise you will not be impressed. Staff seemed like they didn't give a rat's behind (unlike 99.9% of Newfoundlanders)

Outdated, basic and tired-looking. Even the fridge was unplugged when we arrived. How the heck does a guy keep his beer cold??

This was meant to be a simple 3 night retreat for my family an I and it delivered. I am mid 40's, spectacular wife of 18 years and 2 children 11 & 13.

First and foremost if you are seeking luxury and multiple amenities this isn't your stop. If however you want a clean room/bathroom/kitchen, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff, great tasting food all combined with a cozy setting it just doesn't get any better.

If I can fault this place at all it may be on price but I also have to understand their season is short and there are real costs to operating and maintaining such a place. It wouldn't stop me from coming back or recommending to friends/family.

My thanks to Nellie and staff for a wonderful stay.

Great little motel and restaurant in the middle of the Terra Nova national park. The room came with a small kitchenette and a bathtub! The staff at the restaurant was so nice...they even brought our dinner to the room! A cook it yourself breakfast was provided each day and was delicious with farm fresh eggs, homemade breads and jams! This is a jewel in the middle of a beautiful forest!

I was here for a couple of days with a tour group. As people have mentioned, the motel rooms are dated but large with a separate kitchen and a back door that opens to a terrace. It was very clean and comfortable with friendly service. I would recommend this motel.

👌can’t wait to come back and enjoy the clean pool / hot hot tub, beautiful walking trails... Our 5 year old loved it and so did we! The restaurant food was delicious and they have outdoor bbqs. They also sell home made baked good..yum. Just bring necessities for cooking like spices etc. Terra Nova just got a lot better for us!

Probably the best coconut cream pie I've ever had! The rest of the meal was good, but the dessert put it over the top. Well worth the two minute drive off the highway. Didn't stay overnight so I can't comment on the accommodations.

Restaurant is over-rated. Small rooms for the price. The only good thing about it was it is in the park. The pool is nice and big. The outdoor ambience was nicer than the rooms. Staff was friendly. Very quiet.
