This hotel was one of our favourites from our 2 weeks travelling around Costa Rica. The view was absolutely amazing! Our room had a large balcony overlooking the volcano which we could spot tropical birds from. The infinity pool/jacuzzi was a winner for us, open until 11pm and you can have drinks there from the bar. We met a lovely Costa Rican family and had great fun. The closest mini market is about 7 minutes drive on a dirt track so try avoid at night but was still ok! The room itself was clean and the staff were all very friendly, especially one of the grounds men who was very informative about the area and wildlife (including the hotel cat ha!) We visited La Fortuna waterfall the following day and it was very worth the trip!!

This hotel is actually in El Castillo, not in La Fortuna as advertised by our travel agent, TravelbyJen. The hotel is beautiful and as pictured on their website. The view of the volcano, the infinity pool and the location, close to a lot of the regions's tourist attractions but in quiet farmland, are great.
The hotel style rooms (there are quite a few private bungalows) while very large, lack amenities. Our room was clearly built for a king-sized bed - instead there was a queen and a single - so lighting was inconvenient. There was a small closet (ie., not big enough for hangers) with a safe, a desk and one end table for storage. Coffee maker only; no fridge, no microwave, no hairdryer, and no access to ice. The bathroom, again large and attractively done in faux antique wood paneling, had spotless small, thin, scratchy mismatched towels and one hand towel. The queen bed was uncomfortable and had very low thread count sheets and flat pillows (which we actually like!)
The a/c worked well and had a drying feature which was fabulous for drying wet clothes and bathing suits in record time (for Costa Rica!). Balcony had a great volcano view and two rocking chairs. The restaurant, Loma Linda, is reasonably priced (for tourist Costa Rica) but plain and not what one would expect for a destination restaurant. The view is definitely the main attraction at this hotel and restaurant.

this hotel was part of our travel package. it’s on top of a hill with spectacular panoramic view of the volcano and the lake. our room also has the same view. for the view, I would give it a 5 star.

Our room was large room with 1 double and 1 single bed, probably meant for a family of 3, but there’s not a lot of hangers or closet/counter space to place luggages or clothes.

the bathroom is also disproportional small/tight. I’m 5’2”, I feel like a little kid trying to brush my teeth as the wash sink rim comes up almost to my neck. while sitting on the toilet my arm would hit the shower door as it’s a very tight space. I also don’t understand why the toilet paper is located in front of the toilet (not on the side of the wash sink which is next to the toilet)? it on the wall next to the shower door opening and right under the towels hanger, which means when you’re trying to grab your towel, water will be dripping onto the toilet paper roll under it.

the shower is large enough but the shower head is like 8’ high almost to the ceiling with very weak water pressure. it only has a liquid soap dispenser but no other holder for soap bar or any other shampoo/equipment.

we tried all their 3 breakfast, ham & egg, pan cakes, or costa rican rice&bean breakfast, all were good.

our schedule was tight so we didn’t get to enjoy the other hotel facilities, such as the pool/spa or the bar.

The property itself is very beautiful, and the view of the volcano can’t be beat. We lucked out and arrived when we had clear sunrise views of the volcano both mornings.

Otherwise our experience was quite underwhelming and even disappointing in some ways.

After check-in there was no offer to help us with our luggage and we had to lug our bags up a flight of stairs to get to our room. No one showed us to our room, they just gave us the key and pointed to the building.

The room itself was basic which we expected, but there were two overhead lights that we couldn’t for the life of us figure out how to turn off which led to a very poor sleep the first night. When we asked reception the next day they just said we had to fiddle with different light switches to eventually get them to turn off. No one volunteered to come help or look at it for us. Luckily we were able to get them off for the second night.

I had been looking forward to the restaurant due to its positive reviews but felt very underwhelmed by the selection. I was very relieved when we had the opportunity to eat in town the second night. Breakfast options were also few.

The location is remote by area standards and we had to pay quite a bit extra for tour pick ups and drop offs due to the location. We would choose to stay in town in the future.

We didn’t have a chance to enjoy the pool but it did look quite beautiful with panoramic views.

Unfortunately I can’t recommend this property despite the beautiful photos I was able to capture here.

We were very well welcome and have the privilege to get a view on the Arenal Volcano in spite of the cloud during our two days stay. However, when we arrived the bathroom especially the wc part was a bit dirty ( i would avoid the description on the wall…) i cleaned it myself… I did not dare telling the staff not to get someone into trouble. But THAT doesn’t really worth the price of the room no matter.
About the restaurant, the desayuno was not so generous and typical either the local or the continental one. Once more, this has nothing to do with the staff who did perfectly well their job (don’t really want them to get into trouble!).
In a nutshell, i would summarize that you’re are just paying the highest price for the view, you will get anywhere else…
Plus tips : the pool and the jacuzzi which might also justify the price!

Fabulous views of the lake & volcano in a lovely elevated location about 30 mins from La Fortuna, rooms need an update but not bad with a nice pool & jacuzzi but here’s the paradox, the food is probably the worst you will get in any Costa Rican Hotel, breakfast for example consists of the most tiny portion (thank God) of tasteless & bland Gallo Pinto ever, with an egg of your choice & a bit of fried banana, oh & nearly forgot a couple of pieces of the cheapest possible dried bread only good for the dog, why drop to this standard when it would be so easy to get a decent cook, produce a reasonable quality breakfast with maybe some sausages or bacon, add some onions or potatoes for flavor like all good hotels do, really 0/10 for the breakfast & the lunch & or dinner pretty poor too. (How hard is it for example to do a burger? McDonalds needn’t worry). Give that 3/10. Not to demean the hotel & environment but pleeeez don’t think these low catering standards are remotely acceptable to guests. Hope the management are listening & act. Would I go again, yes for the location & view just don’t want my intestines insulted by the awful food. Eat elsewhere.

Located about 10 minutes outside La Fortuna overlooking Lake Arenal this was what we wanted, somewhere away from busy La Fortuna. The room itself was nothing special really albeit clean and comfortable, but a bit dated in feel. The view however was great with our outside patio overlooking the lake and volcano. The location overall was nice and quiet. The main building where you ate was a nice place to be, overlooking the garden where hummingbirds flew around. The food was pretty good and the staff very friendly. Sure it was an extra 10 to 15 minutes to drive into La Fortuna if you wanted to go to a spa or see the waterfall, etc. but for the peace and tranquility it was worth it. Would recommend.

We spent 3 nights in this beautiful hotel in early August. Rooms are big and simply furnished with balconies overlooking Lake Arenal and the volcano. Condition of property is great: landscaping, dining room, guest rooms. Staff were so nice, friendly, and helpful, like all Costa Ricans we interacted with. Breakfast was typical Costa Rican with fruit, rice/beans, eggs, toast, and a slice of cheese. Great coffee of course. We were the only guests one night, 2-3 other rooms were occupied the other nights. Lots of adventure activities in local area, recommend canopy tour with Go Adventures. We do not recommend driving from San Jose to get to La Fortuna, but we did survive. This and many other hotels have suffered due to Covid travel restrictions, give them your business if you can. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel with amazing views of Arenal volcano and the lake. The location is about 20 minutes away from the town of La fortuna so it’s nice and quiet. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite. It’s a nice size room very private with a private parking area that’s covered which is nice since it rains often. The staff is very helpful. The dining room was great. Breakfast is included and delicious. We also had dinner one night and it was amazing. We had mojitos at the bar which were delicious. The property is beautiful. My only complaints were that it’s super dark in the bathroom and screens in the sliding doors would have been nice so we could let some fresh air in.

The biggest town, and the place where many of the tourist activities are located, is La Fortuna. It's 22.6km from the hotel, about a 30 minute drive. There's a small town with a few restaurants and a tiny convenient store at the base of the hill, about a 5-7 min drive from Linda Vista (where the butterfly conservatory is)

Renting a car is a better option because u can use that car to move around. Also the roads are bad, gravel/trail roads. With every rental You have to buy insurance. I saw Adobe car rental almost everywhere.
