The hike was far more strenuous than I expected - but that's my fault for underestimating what a "moderate hike" means and thinking I could handle it despite never having been hiking ever in my life. It would have been worth it if it culminated in swimming or a particularly breathtaking view, but while the waterfall was beautiful I don't think it was worth the exhausting speed-run we did through the rainforest.
The other parts of the trip made up for this, though. Our guide, Kevin Piña, was very personable and always willing to help us get the best pictures. At the sanctuary we saw three sloths, a couple poison dart frogs, and a family of toucans. And the swim at the first waterfall was absolutely delightful.

This combination of activities—ziplining, horseback riding, and tubing—is absolutely worth the price. The adventure kicked off with ziplining, an exhilarating experience that left me wishing for more length, though it was thoroughly enjoyable overall.

Next up was horseback riding, my first time trying it, and I was eager to bond with my horse. The horses were well-trained and effortlessly followed the trail. Having control over my horse was a cool experience too.

Tubing was undeniably the highlight for me. It was incredibly fun, and I found it to be the most enjoyable part of the entire adventure. The staff were present in the more challenging rapids, which added a reassuring layer of safety. Embrace getting wet—it's part of the thrill. I did get stuck a couple of times but managed to navigate back on course. Be prepared for the possibility of flipping or falling off your tube—it adds to the excitement!

To cap it all off, you have the option to unwind at the hot springs afterward, which was a perfect way to relax after an action-packed day. Overall, this experience is well worth the investment.

The catamaran tour was one of our favorite excursions during our time in Costa Rica. The crew was exceptional and made sure everyone was taken care of and stayed safe. The views were incredible- especially the sunset on the way back. We were able to see lots of fish snorkeling and on the way back we had some dolphins swim alongside the boat. A perfect day!

The crew is fabulous and accommodating-not the usual hooting and hollering to get drunk. Lovely lunch and excellent opportunity to swim, float, paddle board and relax. Highly recommend

Thrilling adventure in the Costa Rican rainforest! The hanging bridges offered stunning views of the lush canopy, and the sloth sanctuary was a highlight – we even got to see a baby sloth! Our guide was fantastic, pointing out hidden wildlife and sharing interesting facts. The tour was well-organized, with transportation and delicious local food included. Highly recommend for anyone seeking an unforgettable rainforest experience!

The animal life we saw was amazing !!

Birds, crocodiles, iguanas, howler monkeys, huge termite nest in the mangrove trees and more.

We had our grandchildren with us and they enjoyed every minute.

Our guides sliced up fresh pineapples that were delicious after we took a stroll on the bank to see the howler monkeys in the trees.

    Wonderful excursion !!

Our guides were fun and made sure the whole family was having fun. The view at the top of the zip line was beautiful! We saw 3 howler monkeys that barked at us when we zipped by.

This was a long day but we did it and enjoyed it! You are able to see a variety of nature and weather along the volcano hike. I was able to take it easy as needed with my knee issues. There are lots of steps/stairs along the way and more to get to the waterfalls and hot springs. Just sharing so readers are aware.

Our guide, Santiago, made the trip amazing with his vast knowledge, kindness to all creatures (he bought food for homeless dogs along the way and they wait for him to come), care for the environment (he picked up other people’s trash along the way) and keen eye to spot animals…he found us six snakes including 2 pit vipers, poison dart frogs, plus sloth, cayman and turtles. He shared his finds with the other guides in the park too so that their groups could enjoy as well. We were disappointed it was raining so we couldn’t see the blue water but still enjoyer the trip because of Santiago. He took pics along the way that he said he would share with us…can’t wait to see those! The hike is tough if you’re a little older (we were 54 and 61) and not in the best shape but if you take it slow it’s doable. Lunch at the Soda was delicious! If you take this trip try to get Santiago! He is the best!

Our family of 8 adults loved this adventure. The zipline was a blast and the Hanging bridges were so beautiful. It was a rainy afternoon for the bridges, but nothing a poncho couldn't handle. I do suggest a guide, which if you book with Native's Way, you will receive. We were shuttled from Tamarindo and it was 3 hours, but the guide broke it up nicely on the way with a stop at a local bakery for cafe and sweets. The ride home was bit lengthy due to traffic on Liberia which added 2 hours to the total return. Pura Vida!
