Shrine is Beautiful but Tourism ruins it
Hakone Shine is absolutely beautiful. It's very picturesque deep in the woods with giant cedar trees. The Torii Gate floating in the water is surrounded by beautiful scenes of the lake and mountains. Unfortunately, it's become so popular, everyone comes out to see the Torii Gate. A simple photographer like me who just wants to get a quick photo of the shrine has to be patient as there is a long line of people waiting to take photos. The day I went, it was like an hour wait. There were groups of people taking photos. First they would take a selfie, then group photo, then a photo with other people, it was just ridiculous. This attraction deserves 5 stars, but tourism has ruined it.

    Beautiful shrines
We took a private tour to Hakone Shrine and enjoyed it very much. Since it was a colder December day, the crowds weren’t too bad - and manageable. Area is clean, has rest rooms as well. You have to take a few steps uphill to see the main shrine but very worth it. Area is shaded and Zen.

    A nice shrine to see
It was a rainy day so we took the pirate ship to visit this shrine. Even though we were soaking wet, w had to see this shrine. It was toward the end of the day so we took a break at one of the convenience stores.

Again, over time, temples lose some of their charm. There is a considerable staircase to get there, but the nature around it makes it much more beautiful, although still nothing very special in my opinion.

We walked to the shrine as soon as we reached the lake after taking the bus from the train station. The shrine offers a serene atmosphere and great views.

It was an early rainy morning but the cedars were beautiful and splendid. It was very peaceful. It is a nice walk and really celebrated the cedar forest and hakone lake and the mountains.

Unfortunately, as our tour was running late, we were only able to see the shrine and the torii gate from the boat. The setting, with huge trees, looks beautiful though.

Nice shrine with torri gate by the water. If you want to take photos, you must prepare for long queues.

While on a tour to Tokyo we took a bus tour with a cruise. We could see this beautiful shrine from the cruise. A must visit tour for people visiting Tokyo.
