Tung fort is a short but steep climb. There is good parking at the base of the fort near Hanuman temple. There are 3-4 places during the climb, where one has to clamber on the rocks. Out of that, the 1st one has narrow steps and can be tricky or scary for the non-experienced. But mostly it is all doable. There is a nice maachi on top of the fort from where you get good 360 degree view. From top of the fort, you can also climb to the summit.
Climb from the base to the machi and top of the fort took us 1 hr 15 mins with photo stops. From top of the fort to the summit took us another 10-15 mins. Climbing down took us 45 mins.
For regular trekkers, i would classify this as an easy climb. For non-trekkers, I would classify this as moderate only because of the 3 rocky portions, 1st of which can be daunting.
The rocks will get hot as the sun rises. Hence prefer to climb early in the morning or wear some hand protection so that you can take good rock support even as they get hot.
There is no body selling buttermilk or limbu paani along the way as you find on other trek routes, Hence carry your own water & food.

One of the best trekk in the region, Easy to Moderate grade and Fantastic Panoramic view from top... There are couple of patches which needs extra care otherwise it is a Simple trekk.

3/4 Day is good enough to complete this trek from Pune. Would suggest a early morning start to have a great view from the top. There is ample parking available at the base village near Hanuman Temple.
There is no food and water availability on the top so carry enough stuffs with you

Please avoid Trek during extreme summer .

It is by far the best Lonavala has to offer for trek.treking level is in between easy to medium. Must visit during monsoons.. even though post monsoon were also great. At top resides goddess tungi ..which I believe is the tutelary deity of this area. Beautiful place a must with friends and family..

This is an easy grade trek, even in monsoon it is not that difficult, if you are a regular trekker you will reach atop within an hour and if you are a beginner then 60mina to 90mins are good enough to reach a top. Enroute Tungwadi you will see a board that will say Tung Fort, trek starts from here only, Hanumanji Mandir is there at the base, the best thing about this trek is there is no walk through the jungle and then climb up, straightaway it's a mountain climb, from the first door one way goes to Buruj and another to Fort atop, after second door there is Ganesh temple, water tank and from water tank the route goes to the highest point of fort that is Tungai Mata mandir..in monsoon it is a pleasure to do this trek..in June July the stones might not that slippery in pate July August stones become a bit slippery due to moss but nothing major, it is still doable with easy grade..so, do visit and enjoy the nature..

Been here with my family. My 7year old enjoyed the trek. Its adventurous as it has loose gravel and very steep. Kids need to be cautious and supervised. The view is amazing from the peak and the 45acre Club Mahindra resort is fully visible.
Avoid sunny days as the rocks get hot and you need to hold them while climbing down.

Trek to tung fort is adventurous in rainy season as it becomes tough to climb as it becomes slippery. There are three stages of trek
On the first stage first thing you see is the main gate. then you see a ganesh temple.
On the second stage there the view is awesome .
On the third stage i.e., top of the fort you will see tungai mata mandir.
Overall experience was good.
This place is around 85 kms from pune.

Situated on the banks of pawana dam, the fort is at height of 1075m. You have to go around the lake to reach base village. The front facing the lake is nearly vertical. Due to its sheer vertical climb fort is also called as kathingad. Once at top you can see amazing views of pawana dam and forts nearby like tikona. Small children should avoid this fort as there is no railings to hold on and there has been many fatal accidents so climb very cautiously.

It was a good and easy trek. But the road to reach the base village of tung was very bad.The road is broken and it’s very hard to drive. But when you reach the top,the view is spectacular. To my surprise,we saw banana trees in abundance!

Tung fort is an amazing weekend getaway near Pune. Visited in June and the fort is covered with lush grass and trees. Fort is not difficult to climb and it is highly recommended for beginners. Do carry your food and water as you may not find anything to eat or dink after you reach the top. Stay safe.
