About
The Anne Frank House (Dutch: Anne Frank Huis) is a museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. The building is located on a canal called the Prinsengracht, close to the Westerkerk, in central Amsterdam in the Netherlands. As a visitor, you experience this story through a audio tour (there is also one especially for children), quotes, photos, videos, and original items. The Anne Frank House can only be visited with an online ticket for a specific date and time. These are only on sale through the website of the Anne Frank House.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

    Definitely a Must See
I have never been to a museum and read and looked at EVERYTHING but here it is a must. I was a little perplexed when we first arrived as it is a modern building but that is only the start. I found this experience so moving and I’m so glad I visited. Seeing the house, going into the hiding place and learning about the people that lived there. It’s very well done. And it’s about so much more than the poor girl that lived there and what she went through. Definitely a must see

Super well organised museum experience. Book very early if you want to go!
So lucky to get tickets for this place. Make sure you book in advance or you won’t have a hope of getting in. Having read Anne’s diary when I was younger I really wanted to visit. My teens haven’t read the diary but knew her story so I booked the tour with the 30 minute explanatory programme. This helped to set the scene and explain the background for them. Our timed tickets got us in after a short queuing period waiting outside. There are a lot of steps on the tour even before you reach the house. The actual house steps are very narrow too so be prepared with sensible shoes. I loved this museum. Lots of photos and information about the business Anne’s father ran, the family and fellow workers plus the chance to see her actual diary and the rooms she lived in for two years having to keep so quiet and still. A very thought provoking experience but very well done and at no time were there too many people to make it uncomfortable. My teens enjoyed it too. It said they preferred the Verzetsmuseum ( the resistance museum) so maybe if you don’t manage to get tickets for anne frank house you should consider going there. Do both if you get the chance, you won’t regret it!

    Lest We Forget
Tickets go on sale SIX weeks prior to your visit so if you have booked a holiday in Amsterdam purchase tickets online in advance. On arrival at our designated time slot, we were not impressed with the chaotic queuing outside and the cold officious uncommunicative staff who seemed to prefer listening to their ear piece instead of converting with the public. This created confusion and queue hopping. Inside was a different story. Being inside the building and absorbing the enormity of Anne's tragic story was compelling and moving. I was pleased that people were quiet and respectful of their surroundings.

An important museum to visit in Amsterdam
The Anne Frank house was an amazing experience. To witness her actual diary, physical space and hear the story told through visual and audio stories was incredible. Very somber. The museum was quite full of people. Make sure to get your tickets early.

    Absolute Must Visit in Amsterdam
It would be hard to say something that hasn’t already been said about the Anne Frank House. We have traveled all over the world visiting important WW2 museums , memorials and read numerous historical books on the subject. That said, the Anne Frank House was very important to us and we wanted to also have the pre tour presentation. I highly recommend this if you plan to go. We checked this out way in advance and knew we’d have to be online early to get tickets. No regrets at all. The Annex where the Frank family and others hid has been preserved and is something everyone should see in their lifetime. I’m grateful for the work the foundation has done and is doing on behalf of all the forgotten members of society.

    Well done museum tour
What a humbling experience being able to walk through the spaces where Anne and her family lived. The museum was well done, the audio guide (free) was definitely worthwhile. You were allowed to explore many rooms of the warehouse and annex. We brought our children, age 4 and 6. The 6 year old seemed to process and understand the audio guide and exhibits, so I believe it was worthwhile for her, although I had to pick her up to better see some of the exhibits. This is a must-do in Amsterdam, just remember to reserve a time slot before you go (up to 6 weeks in advance at the time of this writing).

    Very Moving Experience
AS everyone says this is a very moving experience. We took this museum in on Saturday morning before leaving on our river cruise. As most know, you must get tickets in advance. We purchased ours at 6 am 6 weeks before going. We did both the presentation and the actual tour. the presentation was very nice and led by a young woman who knew here history. this jsut added to the experience. The tour is humbling realizing what this family wentt through and what happened in the end. they have video testimony from some of the helpers but the most touching is listening to Annes father recount how he learned of his families passing. Quite an experience and something you shoudl not miss while in Amsterdam.

    Educational and emotive visit.
Really interesting. Very emotional. I visited with my husband and two children aged 7 and 13. We did the audio tour and all found it to be informative and thought provoking. The audio tour took about 45 minutes which was the right amount of time for children. Be aware the stairs into the annex are very steep.

    Very moving
Very moving and emotional. We realized halfway through the tour that no one was talking above a whisper. I would highly recommend it. Buy your tickets ahead of time! It is not handicap accessible though. There are steep stairs involved.

It is imperative that you do this. It was very touching and amazing. The audio description had a lot of interest. For younger children, they have a separate narration. Ten-year-old son of mine heard every word. He claimed it held his interest and was incredibly educational.

Remember to buy your tickets online at least 4 weeks in advance!

Overall, it is worth the visit. As many reviews have already mentioned, it pays extremely sobering homage to the eight people who hid in the annex here during World War II, including the Frank family. Of note, however, you need to book tickets as soon as they become available, five weeks in advance, or you will likely not be able to find any. No need to book the extra informational session, the audio guide (free included) goes over everything that the extra session does; I wish we had known this before so we could have saved some time and money. Finally, there is a small collection of artifacts to see, including Anne's diary and the original bookcase that concealed the Annex, however, per the wishes of Otto Frank, the annex is not furnished, so one must rely on scale models and drawings to see what each room used to contain.

A meaningful, sobering account of Anne Frank, her family, and the people who helped them. The museum deftly tells her story using photos, mementos, and an easy-to-use audio guide. This is a must-do in Amsterdam. It’s hard to find tickets; check the museum’s website on Tuesdays at 10am Amsterdam time and you might find tickets for the coming week. Prepare for steep staircases. If you’re going with kids, give them context for what they are about to see if they don’t already know the story of Anne Frank.

This is a must do. It was incredible and moving. The audio narration was very engaging. They have a Separate narration for younger kids. My son, who is 10, listened to every word. He said it was really informative and kept his attention.

Don’t forget to purchase your tickets online 6 weeks in advance!

Sadly after walking across the city to find this world famous attraction, I was told that you have to book 4 to 6 weeks in advance. As I can't see me coming again to Amsterdam, I will never see it. 😥 I was also surprised to find the house in a fairly modern building? Nothing like the delightful buildings surrounding it.

This museum and secret annex visit are a must do for anyone and everyone. Anne’s story is so impactful and important. The museum audio guide and placards are very well done to inform you but keep the flow of the museum. Wish there were a couple more opportunities to sit in the museum portion as someone who has chronic pain, but it was all worth it to be in this place.

While the house itself is worth visiting, the crowds are not. We booked our slot for 10:30am, and already had a huge crowd of people all in the same time slot. The museum could manage the tour times and capacity better, so visitors are not on top of each other. You walk slowly from room to room, and are rushed to the next room- without proper time to take in story. The audio tour guide that you are given is also very glitchy and ours was constantly skipping - as a result we would have to stop the audio guide and scan the audio again to start over.

Me and the wife did the self guided tour, where you scan the icons on the wall and listen to the headset. It’s a must do in Amsterdam, its sad and quite harrowing, especially in the area where they hid, but very informative and great to remember these people that went through so much. Would 100% recommend it’s a must do in Amsterdam. My advice would be however you need to book well in advance, think we booked it about 5-6 weeks before we arrived In Amsterdam.

I highly recommend this experience. We did the 30-minute intro which was helpful in understanding the times and Anne Frank’s life. We purchased our tickets the 6 weeks early as recommended at exactly 10:00 am Amsterdam time. They sell out very quickly.
