I really liked attending this Saturday market. There’s baked goods, sauces, seasonings, and some produce, meat and seafood.

We got there on a Saturday a little bit over 1pm hoping we could find good food options. The place was almost empty, many venues were closed already, I saw lots of pastries and breads that looked old, the building itself is beautiful and worth some pictures but the quality of the few vendors was very poor.

Hello PECASB - Our NFP cooperative farmer's market closes Saturdays at 1pm - the best time to come and enjoy the bounty of our local harvest is around 11am, by 1pm folks are eager to get back to their farms and families. we hope you choose to come back and visit us earlier in the day! Safe travels - Cheers, Alison.

Visiting on a Friday afternoon, I stopped in the adjacent Alexander Keith’s Brewery for a little Irish Anesthesia. Several buildings adjacent to Keith’s have been enclosed by glass ceilings to form an atrium of sorts. There are shops and other specialty stores. The main attraction, however, is the weekend farmers market. Since the tour group I was with departed early Saturday morning, I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy browsing through the market.

Inside the Alexander Keith’s Brewery 200-year-old stone building near the waterfront is a small local farmers’ market open to the public from 8AM to 1PM every Saturday. About 40 farmers and crafters have tables on two levels. It is a not-for-profit cooperative effort with a focus on fresh produce, meats and baked goods. Keith’s Brewery has a shop selling its merchandise (caps, T-shirts, key fobs, etc.). A musician was performing when we were there. We could have walked past the Brewery Market on Lower Water Street because the signs for a coffee shop and Patagonia clothing were more prominent than the vertical fabric banners for the Market. If you want a brewery tour (with samples) they start at noon daily and cost Adults $26.95 and Seniors/Military/Students $23.95.

There is a great noodle restaurant in the market. Made in front of you with fresh vegetables, yum!
Some of the other shops have their charms, but overall... meh.

Always has been an amazing experience whenever I go. Local sellers with local product. Warm vibe, great for a solo mission or with the whole family. Will always be a treasure of downtown Halifax. Do yourself a favour and go....won't be disappointed.

Stopped by today for some pork chops from Sweet William and will be bar be Qing them up later for a delicious meal. The folks and atmosphere are fantastic. Its like stepping back in time but getting fresh and fabulous produce. Samples are also great. I loved some of the wood work but will have to come back another day for some of that. All in all it is a great spot.

I love the Brewery Market market, especially this time of year, I stock up on lots of local fresh produce. There’s a wide variety of vendors and I can find something different every time I go! I’ll be back again very soon :)

I suspect the Seaport Farmers Market has ripped the heart out of this once glorious farmers market as it is an empty shell now. When we visited on a Saturday in May the halls were empty of shoppers and sellers seemed devoid of energy. It was sad... I do hope that it reinvents itself soon.
