Great attentive service on board, also on my other flights to and from Colombo. We were not told in advance that Oman Air would operate the Qatar-Colombo route, they have older planes but use Qatar staff. On these flights Internet was not offered on board. Nonetheless I feel that Qatar stands out ahead of Emirates and Etihad in Economy, and I would again choose Qatar for future travel via the Middle East.

Absolutely horrible if you have a connecting flight and it’s delayed. Complete mismanagement, clueless airport staff

We were looking forward to our trip and also the flying as my wife and i only heard good things of qatar airways, but omg. First the checkins/bag drop take forever (this can be because of the customers, so i wont consider this point too much) Boarding takes an hour. They board by „zones“. Maybe its a horrible system maybe its the customers fault, but ok. Now to the flight in general: Space: im 187cm and im hitting my knees on the front seat, fun for the next 10h. Maybe its a little bitsy more spacious than a small easy jet flight, but not much. Did expect more comfort. Entertainment: movie selection was ok, forced to use the trash headphones you get… bluetooth does connect to my headphones but no sound. On the first flight my screen wasnt working properly, movies were slideshows, couldnt be fixed. Service: You get a pillow, a blanket (def needed if they crank up the ac) and the trash headphones. Staff barely walks by, barely talks to you, never asks if everything is fine. (More to that later) Food and drinks: Oh boy here it comes. Worst food i probably ever had. My wife and i are vegetarian so can only comment on that. First flight: 3 different menus, we were sitting right behind business class. Steward comes by, and says he doesnt have the vegetarian option (thats offered on the menu). He then says „ill ask my colleagues but only after they are done with their service“. 30 min to an hour later, he comes back and with a grin on his face:“ sorry they have no left over vegeterian meal, but you can have the chicken meal.“ we declined ofc, so we got nothing. Later you get snacks, instead of asking they just hand you a box with thrown in stuff in the dark and you just have to lucky pick your snacks, no asking no talking. Meanwhile you also get drinks. 1 250ml bottle water and then 2 drinks (150ml) in the rest of the flight. If you want more to drink, you have to stand up and actively search them and ask them, because they never walk by. Next flight they had the vegetarian meal: 5 noodles in around 300ml cheese cream sauce. Not much to eat and not very good to be honest. The appetizer was potato salad, that was rancid, no replacement. Same barebones of drink service Return flights: We applied for a vegetarian meal via app, so we def get food atleast, oh boy…. We got potatoes that were still hard, barely cooked, mushroom sauce that never saw an inch of salt, a half broccoli rose (same size as my little finger) and 3 cm of carrot. So nothing to eat again, and ofcourse no replacements. Last flight: shot the bird. We got a curry, with polenta and some fried „thing“. My box wasnt fully sealed and already open, no replacement. It smelled rotten and i tried a small bite, nothing was edible. But my wifes was sealed we opened hers, the same rotton smell, she instantly got nauseous from the smell, for example the polenta, tasted sour like sour milk, same with the rest, a rotten sour taste. No replacement!!! The desert, normally fruits (the only eatable thing) got replaced with a pudding…. Guess what was sour aswell? It also was slimy already, just as if youd let pudding sit in the sun. How, how do you serve your customers consistently rotten or just plain bad food. You get no replacements, no service, barely enough to drink, nearly no leg space. I will never fly with qatar airways ever again and would advise everyone against it, its horrendous.

I can not express how much I feel that NO ONE should fly this airline. If you have a issue it falls on deaf ears. I had an employee that toldme that they can do something and then after hours of waiting get told that they can not and are then rudely told that it's just too bad. I should have never been allowed to fly per their rules but they let me on the plane to only leave me stranded at my connection because of a passport issue. I have tried to bring it to their attention and have been told that they will do nothing to acknowledge their mistake and only apologize for how terribly I was treated by their airline when I was trying to work through the problem in the airport I was stuck in. I acknowledged that I understood where I made a mistake but it they were really following the rules they said I was responsible for I should have never left my home state. None of the situation was handled with any regard to me as a customer. All my future international travel is through another airline.

Qatar Airlines. Nightmareliner, not Dreamliner. Beware they do not fly the planes they promise in their gaudy adverts, but pass you off with ancient A330s. £3400 for a crappy experience. I booked Business Class with BA from Heathrow to Colombo on 15-16 June and they routed me via Doha with Qatar. I thought perfect Qatar has a great reputation and the new Dreamliner they are shouting about looks ace. The airport listing said Dreamliner and I was expecting a Dreamliner but finished up on the London-Doha leg with an old Nightmareliner A330 which was barely adequate, the bed was not a fully flat bed but a conflation of the seat flattened out with the footstool which did not match to give a flat bed. The wines were lovely but the steak was so overcooked that it was inedible. It was even worse for the leg from Doha to Colombo. The Alliance aircraft were stationed on a far away corner of Doha which took 20 minutes of badly cooled bus transfer. Very strange when so many airbridge gates appeared to be unused. On boarding the ancient A330 it appeared well beyond its useful life and gave very little confidence in its safety. The interior trim was practically falling apart and the first 70 minutes were unbearable at 35C as aircon did not work for 40 mins of taxying and 30 mins into take off. When it transpired that we were not even flying on a Qatar plane but a 35 year old hand me down borrowed from Oman I felt very uneasy about my safety. Qatar claimed “OPERATONAL REASONS” for substituting aircraft that did not match their promises.
