When it comes to finding the perfect housing option for your studies, Trent University Durham GTA offers a variety of choices to suit your needs. Whether you prefer the convenience of living on campus or the independence of off-campus living, you'll find options for you.
Living On Campus
Immerse yourself in Trent Durham's vibrant campus community and live in our new residence building at our Thornton Road campus.
Located a short distance from downtown Oshawa, our residence provides comfortable dorm-style rooms as well as academic programming and a dining hall for your convenience. You can opt for a single room or share with a roommate, and a traditional dining plan is required for on-campus residents. A special floor is reserved specifically for postgraduate certificate students so you can live with your fellow students. Living on campus means having instant access to support services, security, and amenities such as unlimited Wi-Fi and laundry facilities.
Plus, Trent's commitment to inclusivity ensures that accessibility needs are met for all residents. Residence spaces are also available in the summer months.

Living Off Campus
For those seeking more independence and flexibility, off-campus living can provide a great experience.
Whether you choose to live off campus in your first year or later during your studies at Trent, this option offers you the freedom to sign a lease with a third party and have your own space. As an off-campus student, you'll be responsible for monthly rent, which may or may not include utilities like water, heat, hydro, and Wi-Fi.
Additionally, you'll need to consider expenses such as groceries, cell phone bills, transportation (if not near the bus route), and laundry. However, you always have the option to opt-in for a dining plan or add Trent Cash to your campus card for added convenience.
When searching for off-campus housing, it's essential to research the proximity of rental units to the university, as commute time should be factored into your schedule. Luckily, Trent students registered in three or more courses (with at least one being in-person) have unlimited access to local transit during the academic year. Non-qualifying students can purchase a transit pass through the MyTrent portal.
If you need assistance or support regarding off-campus housing, you can reach out to our dedicated off-campus housing office at offcampushousing@trentu.ca.
