Ever stood outside an elephant's enclosure at the zoo and wished you could get closer to these adorable gentle giants? Well, fantastic news, because now you can do just that with Backstage Pass: Elephant Encounters , Singapore Zoo's third edition of its behind-the-scenes tour series.
Launching on August 9, participants will be able to come face to face with five Asian resident elephants to learn more about their characteristics, how the habitat incorporates enrichment devices to keep them mentally and physically stimulated, and how they are cared for at the Singapore Zoo. And that's not all – you'll also gain access to an off-exhibit area to get up close and personal with the elephants to witness their care routines such as nail filing and their 'positive reinforcement training', a training method that uses rewards such as food.
Lucky participants will also be able to interact with an elephant or two to feed them their favourite treats by hand. Through this interaction, you'll get to know interesting facts about the herd and might be able to learn more about each of their personal unique traits.
The tour will happen daily from 2pm to 3pm. Tickets are priced at $118.40 per person on weekdays and $148 on weekends. Friends of Wildlife members are entitled to a 20 percent discount. Visit their page here to make your booking and find out more.
