Business Barbie: Margot Robbie on how she built an empire

There was a time, before she became a world famous actor, when Margot Robbie would pack vanilla rooibos teabags in her handbag before going clubbing in Clapham, south London.

Robbie liked a gin and tonic, but struggled with the quality of botanicals on offer at Infernos, the nightclub beloved by her and thousands of other Aussie Londoners. Her solution was to follow a tip given to her by a backpacker — vanilla teabags to moderate the taste.

“If you pop one into a terrible G&T it suddenly tastes great. My handbag would be littered with them,” says Robbie. “I’d buy a round [of drinks] and then just hand them out which, now that we’ve gone through the process, I realise is kind of indicative of
