Bad Bunny Kissed a Male Backup Dancer on Stage at the MTV VMAs

This isn’t the first time Bad Bunny has kissed a man on camera.

Bad Bunny won big at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home the Moon Man statue for Artist of the Year. However, the rapper wasn’t there to accept in person — only because he was at Yankee Stadium, getting to perform as part of the telecast. And while there was a lot to talk about as part of his performance, one moment really got people tweeting.

During his performance of “Titi Me Preguntó,” Bad Bunny took a moment to kiss two backup dancers, what appear to have been one female dancer and one male dancer.

The moment was fleeting and glorious, leading to quite a few Twitter reactions.

“Bad Bunny just kissed another man on live TV oh it’s bad for me,” one person wrote. “Bad Bunny just kissed a man on national TV. That’s why I stan this man, no Harry styles queerbaiting shit,” another account said, referencing the recent queerbaiting controversy surrounding the British pop star.

This isn’t the first time Bunny has kissed a man on camera. In his 2019 video for “Caro,” a man kissed the music superstar.

The short-lived nature of the man-on-man kiss rubbed quite a few people the wrong way, as well. Some viewers felt that MTV cut the cameras off the same-sex affection purposely.

Bunny has previously shown very public support for LGBTQ+ people on stage. In 2020, the singer paid homage to Alexa Negrón Luciano, a trans woman who was violently killed in Puerto Rico, while performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

While performing the song “Ignorantes,” Bunny wore a shirt that read, in Spanish, “They killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt.” The statement referred to Puerto Rican reports that had labelled Negrón as a “man in a skirt” instead of a trans woman.
