Jason Burke is the International security correspondent of the Guardian. In 25 years as a foreign correspondent, he covered stories throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa and South Asia. He has covered dozens of conflicts, as well as much else, and is the author of four books, most recently The New Threat.
