It's hard not to see Hunter Biden as Roman from Succession

Except that Joe Biden may be similar to Logan Roy if Logan didn't recover from his stroke

This charade was largely in place during Obama's reign as well. The Swamp and the Wall St. banks chose his staff to implement their agendas, while the "president" played the role of mixed-race Messiah, jetting around the globe attending gala events, glad-handing and bullshitting all with his patented "There are those who will say..." strawman arguments delivered in a practiced Black preacher cadence.

Biden is simply the sequel without the polish.

Well it finally happened, just like professional athletes and their posses, now the president has to have his own posse. Governance through group and team ... scary. I need to know where the buck stops and it should stop with an individual president, his cabinet, and his voters.

Good, simple, illuminating truth. Keep up the culture of going toward a cleaner truth. It's dirty in our country now.

I'm proud to say I sure didn't vote for ANY of this, but the parallels are there. The one big difference is that in the movie they found a good and decent person to substitute for the incapacitated president. In our present catastrophe there is nothing but worse and worser in the cabal wielding presidential power, a group of people who set out in 2009 to "fundamentally transform" the United States of America into a hellscape that even George Orwell couldn't have imagined. Biden's incapacity has simply lent urgency to their rampage of destruction.

The only faint hope is that the Democrats' current panic suggests that they are not entirely confident that this time they will be able to cheat enough to magically win in November.

B-b-b-but...........Trump!

Rosenfield addresses the general point. Here's a specific: If Joe Biden, the (sort of) elected president, was not in charge then who abandoned those American servicemen to their deaths? The Biden Administration said that all went according to plan. The generals denied that and said that their advice was ignored.

Who killed

Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo

Sgt. Nicole L. Gee

Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover

Cpl. Hunter Lopez

Cpl. Daegan W. Page

Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez

Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza

Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz

Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum

Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola

Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui

Navy Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak

Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss

Was it actually the Commander-in-Chief who ordered the evacuation the way it was executed?

Dave's look alike and the charmed First Lady sneaked out for ice cream. And Dave invited his accountant friend over to massage the Federal budget which he did fairly well. In the movie, evil Republicans were being thwarted. Here it's the other guys. Maybe they have it coming, after trying to litigate their way to re-election. I'm comforted that their strategy has largely failed.

I forgot about "Dave"! Terrific movie. Perfect? No. Oversimplified? Yes. Really funny? You bet. Completely horrifying now that it has sprung to life? Yep. Yep yep yep.

If only we had a VP with the character of Ben Kingsley's Vice-President Nance. Alas...

The huge difference between Biden and Dave-the-Doppleganger is that Biden is going out there as the real Biden and the press STILL played along—until they finally couldn't.

We watched "Dave" last night. The Frank Langella character (Bob Alexander) makes the point for us 30+ years later. Charles Colson made the point in his book Born Again that the circle of deceit will break apart as soon as one or more sense serious threat to themselves. (BTW Colson saw a connection to the refusal to recant of Jesus' disciples. Their willingness to die to stand for the truth.)

In Dave, other characters were not willing to go down with the Frank Langella ship... and the ship was saved. Now, in our time, Individual "threat assessments" are being made in the D.C. quagmire. We'll see what happens.

After all the criticism that the mainstream media is just a Democrat propaganda outlet, I find it refreshing that they're now admitting the President is a figurehead and all the decisions are taken by a shadow group of Deep State operatives.

Either an elected president with advanced dementia or a bunch of unknown but super-capable staffers running the country. Nothing but good choices for the American people.

The irony of Dave is that the plot includes the stand-in president's wonky accountant (played by the sublime Charles Grodin) paring back federal expenditures, a la Trump-supporter Vivek Ramaswamy. Somehow, I don't see that happening in this sequel.

If we all saw the Biden train wreck; what do you think world leaders have been seeing for the last 3 years? What have they been able to extract from the Biden administration in return for keeping quiet? Do you really think President Xi sat in a room for an hour and discussed anything of importance with a dementia ridden Parkinson’s patient?

My mom loves that movie. The way Jill treats Joe reminds me of another movie. “Any Given Sunday”. Dennis Quaid plays an aging quarterback that gets injured playing football. After rehab and returning to the field, he’s so traumatized that he wants to quit. His wife is having none of that. She is so used to her lifestyle and the status that she has, because of him, that she slaps the piss out of him and gives him a stern ultimatum. I can picture “Dr.” Jill doing the same thing to Joe.

I’m just waiting for the next movie theme to begin to help divert people’s attention: Wag the Dog.

I saw that movie when it came out, thought it was silly, and harmless at the time. Then I watched clips from Biden's debate and thought immediately of "Dave," as a chill ran down my spine.

There’s so much hand ringing going on about the possibility of another Trump presidency. I don’t like the guy either but I think our forefathers would be shocked that their idea of limited executive power is being interpreted as no executive power. And if the president isn’t actually capable of doing much without congress, well then Trump can just blow all the hot air he wants, right? It goes both ways.

We’ve held on for 250 years with good presidents, mediocre presidents and bad presidents. It’s not pretty right now but we will get through this.

The 2024 Trump derangement syndrome is causing liberals to believe the sky will actually fall this time. So now they’re willing to prop it up will with an old man who wanders off in front of world leaders? He will have to actually show his face at some point.

I stole this comment from another publication because it resonated with me deeply.

“For all his many and obvious faults, Trump has done the most important work. Not intentionally of course, but history is often moved by the wrong people in the right place at the right time. It’s because he is such a bellicose, pompous ass, because he has been little more than a glorified snake oil salesman most of his life, because he thumbed his nose at the unwritten rules and instead started playing dirty, and then won, that we all understand just how deep the resentment goes. If the people will overlook Trump’s checkered past, his combative attitude, his rude, combative, and sometimes outright embarrassing public demeanor just to stick it to the establishment, what does that say to the establishment. Alarm bells should have been ringing loudly as early as late 2015 when polls consistently showed Trump leading the field in the Republican primary. The election was a neon sign displaying a loud and clear message of disapproval to basically everyone in Washington. It took them considerably longer to understand the situation than it should have, and that has hurt them as well.”

You don’t have to like Trump and he doesn’t deserve my respect, but the TDS garbage has been generated by a group of people who will stop at nothing to protect their own privilege and power.
