Jackson Campbell, Francis Howell Central
A third-team All-Metro performer last season, Campbell raised his game to another level in leading the Spartans to a 33-4 record and a run to the Class 1 championship match. Also a standout football player, the 6-foot-3 outside hitter brought that aggressiveness to the court. Campbell averaged 4.43 kills a set. He was also a leader in serve receive and had 219 digs.

Lucas Tran, Lafayette
Few can hit the ball as hard as this 6-foot-7 outside hitter. Tran, a Rockhurst University recruit, was a main cog in the Lancers’ run to the first state championship recognized by the Missouri State High School Activities Association. Tran averaged 4.47 kills a set and served 24 aces. A strong 6-rotation player, he was also a leader in serve receive and had 212 digs.

Ben Villhard, Vianney
Villhard burst onto the scene as a sophomore, leading the Golden Griffins to the state championship match after the starting setter hurt himself moments before the semifinal. Since then, the 6-foot-4 Villhard has proven himself as one of the area’s best all-around players. A returning All-Metro performer, he averaged 10.80 assists. He also had 27 aces and 157 digs.

August Werner, Belleville East
Werner was the heart and soul of a Lancers team that finished with the best record (33-5) in program history and made its second trip to the sectional championship. Heading to pay for Daemen University in Amherst, N.Y., recruit, he led the Lancers to their first conference championship since 2012. Werner was the area’s kills leader, averaging 5.19 per set. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter had 48 aces, was a leader in serve receive and had 188 digs.

Aidan Whitemountain, Webster Groves
Whitemountain grew into a key part of a strong senior leadership group that helped lead the Statesmen to a 24-4 record. A 6-foot-4 outside hitter, a growth spurt helped with a spike in his performance. Whitemountain averaged 4.51 kills as the Statesmen’s go-to offensive option. The Maryville University recruit also put down 30 aces, was rock solid in serve receive and had 197 digs.

Tyler Zippay, Lindbergh
An All-Metro first teamer as a junior, Zippay transferred to Lindbergh for his senior season and produced instant results. Splitting time between setter and opposite hitter, he led the Flyers to a 26-5 record. Zippay, a 6-foot-2 Rockhurst University signee, led the team averaging 2.99 kills while also averaging 4.85 assists. He also had a team-high 36 aces.
All-Metro boys volleyball second team
A reigning All-Metro performer, Krausz battled through injuries and still put up stellar numbers. The 6-foot-7 outside hitter averaged 3.28 kills and put down 19 aces. Heading to play at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., he also was a leader in the Jr. Billikens’ serve receive.
Massey, a returning All-Metro performer, grew into more of a leadership role for a Spartans team that finished with an 18-6-1 record. The 6-foot-4 setter and opposite hitter averaged 2.53 kills and 3.47 assists. Massey was also strong in serve receive and had 213 digs.
The 6-foot-2 outside hitter was the Cadets’ main offensive option. Mitchell was one of the area’s kills leaders, averaging 3.99 a set, and he also delivered 28 aces from the service line. Mitchell was a leader in serve receive and put up 161 digs.
This 6-foot-2 outside hitter was the go-to option for the Golden Griffins offense. Paule averaged 3.64 kills a set to help lead the team to a 26-2-1 record and a third-place finish at state. He served up 20 aces and had 166 digs.
A 6-foot setter, Rose was the area’s assists leader, averaging 11.46 a set. Rose racked up that big number by mixing the Lancers’ offense among four potent attackers to keep the opposing block off balance. Rose also served 31 aces and posted 135 digs.
The 5-foot-8 setter ran the Spartans’ offense to perfection, keeping the opposing block honest by spreading the ball around to a group of talented hitters. Williams was one of the area’s assists leaders 9.76 a set. He had 250 digs and served up 39 aces.
All-Metro boys volleyball third team
One of the top setters in the area, the 6-foot Hendrix worked on speeding up the Statesmen offense this season. He averaged 10.10 assists, put down 22 aces and had 161 digs.
Hoehn, a 6-foot-2 opposite hitter, was a key cog for a Colts team that went 22-9-1. Hoehn led the team in kills, averaging 3.33 a game, while being strong in serve receive and posting 210 digs.
Liddell, a 6-foot-2 middle hitter, made a smashing return to the court after sitting out his junior year to focus on basketball. He averaged 2.93 kills and had 16 aces for a Maroons team that finished 24-11.
This 6-foot outside hitter is one of several talented underclassmen who starred during the program's debut campaign. Martin averaged 4.94 kills, served 36 aces, led the team with 327 digs and in serve receive.
Martinez, standing at 6-foot-6, was one of the area’s top middle blockers and was a leader for the Pioneers. He averaged 4.31 kills, was a team leader in serve receive and had 140 digs.
This 6-foot-2 outside hitter led the Bulldogs to a 20-8-2 record and a run to the Class 1 quarterfinals. Smith was the team’s go-to offensive option averaging 2.93 kills a set.
