STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Almost five months after it opened, Not Just Bagels II of Huguenot sold its last batch of bagels.
As underscored in a typed note posted to the South Shore location’s door, its flagship store 1910 Hylan Boulevard is open for business and can be reached at 718-351-8870.
In the meantime, the message at 877 Huguenot Avenue also read, “Dear valued customers, Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be closed indefinitely. We apologize for any inconvenience.” Its number has been disconnected.

Gates on the Huguenot store went down about a week ago. The store, just steps from the Huguenot train station entrance, had opened in March. It took the place of a “sandwich shop” under different ownership, formerly heavy on vape and smoke paraphernalia inventory. As such, the bagel store under new stewardship had been a most welcome addition to the neighborhood.
In other news of closures, Reggiano’s of Tottenville went dark on July 1. Reggiano’s II, however, is open for business. Pickle Works of Concord closed late last month. The latter operation was almost 100 years old and the property is for sale.
