STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After serving the Tottenville community for 14 years, Reggiano’s is no more.
According to an Instagram post on the official Reggiano’s account, the Amboy Road pizzeria and restaurant shuttered its doors on July 1 “due to some unfortunate events.”
“I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for the abrupt closing,” the post said. “I want to thank all of our customers for supporting us. For 14 years you’ve supported us through Hurricane Sandy, the pandemic, the good times, and the bad. For that, I am eternally grateful… I’ve watched your children grow through the years, and took great pleasure in providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for you all.”
The post was signed off by Ronnie Bartiromo, one of the owners of the establishment.
In the Instagram comment section, customers expressed heartbreak.
“Oh, no. I’m so sorry to hear this! You’re in our weekly dinner rotation!! Your half tray and family dinner specials have made our lives so much easier. I hope all is ok,” one commenter said.
“Sad sad day for Tottenville,” another said.
One commenter in particular mourned the loss of their margarita pizza.
Today, an Advance/SILive.com reporter saw workers cutting down the traditional black-and-gold signage that hung over small tables and chairs that diners would enjoy. The exterior of the building, now devoid of Reggiano’s existence, has three large signs in the windows reading, “Pizzeria restaurant coming September 2024.”
Reggiano’s II, located at 4126 Hylan Boulevard, is still open. The Instagram post said that any gift certificate that were meant for the Tottenville location will be honored at the Great Kills location.
“The ultimate goal is to replicate what we’re doing in Tottenville,” Bartiromo said of Reggiano’s II when it opened in 2020.
