I see all types of couples: for marriage preparation, struggling with relationship issues/conflict or those hoping to connect on a deeper level.
My training is in systems therapy, which examines the many facets of our lives interact. In therapy, we often look at how surrounding relationships and past experiences effect our current beliefs and values. If emotions and mood are difficult to manage, or there is difficulty adjusting to developmental and life stage changes, I offer support and tools to work through this. These challenges often arise for young adults, new mothers, managing intimate relationships and employment transitions. Too often, grief and loss bring up painful struggles for individuals and families. Therapy can be helpful in these most challenging times.

These qualities helps us build our relationship and understand others.
Looking to better your relationships? I got you! Do you want to connect more with people, including yourself? Maybe you struggle with things like knowing when to say no, feeling good about yourself, or understanding what you're feeling. These are some things my clients explore in session. As your therapist, I'm interested in how you talk to yourself, how you see yourself, the places you spend time in, and your daily routine. We'll figure out how these things affect you mentally, physically, and spiritually. Then, you can learn what you need and work on giving yourself the support you deserve, making your relationships better.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families affected by trauma, relationship challenges, and/or eating disorders/food and body issues. Many of my clients are looking for healing around stressful or traumatic life experiences that have led to brilliant but sometimes "stuck" survival strategies. Others are seeking to find peace and freedom with food and body struggles. Some may be struggling with relationships, communication, and boundaries. Though these are my areas of expertise, I work with a wide variety of clients and needs and am happy to explore if I am the right fit for you.

As a provider coming from clinical work in community and institutional settings, I have had the privilege of working alongside a wide array of individuals. My approach has become a constellation of theoretical orientations. I believe wholeheartedly in the potential for growth via the therapeutic relationship, and most shiningly, the beauty of human resilience. Mental health symptoms and addictions are nothing but survival skills begging to be transmuted. Unaddressed trauma as been the focus of my work, and I lean on mindfulness and the power of its practice to retrain the brain’s most reactive pathways.

I believe that in every successful therapy relationship, both client and therapist make progress.
Before therapy, most people have identified emotions and behaviors that they have tried to change. When these efforts are not successful, there are often blind spots or important ties to unresolved, and sometime unrecognized, issues from the past. I work collaboratively to define the problem, identify patterns and their sources, and then to uncover new options. Since my former practice was in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA, I have worked extensively with students and young adults. Often I use family theory in working with an individuals to increase awareness of options within relationships and with his/her family. .

As we face the challenges of life, we can sometimes hit a "perfect" storm. Old issues along with our unique personalities can collide with the stresses and circumstances of our current lives. This collision can feel overwhelming. Psychotherapy can be a useful tool to find a way through these difficult waters. I am a psychotherapist with a practice that serves individual adults and couples who are at all stages of life. Issues common to my practice are anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress management, grief and loss, work related stress, issues of life transitions, trauma, relationship issues and chronic pain issues.

I believe that people innately have the internal resources to meet life's challenges. We all have great potential for growth and change when we are empowered to access these resources within ourselves. But it is in relationship with others that these resources are inspired and engaged. My approach to therapy is collaborative. My hope is to help create the conditions where you feel encouraged and supported to explore the themes that are present in your life.

No one seeks therapy for the same reasons. We all have our different stories and challenges, and external and internal influences. It takes courage to take that first step and reach out. It really does. My goal is always to meet every client with compassion. I value and appreciate the courage it takes to open up and talk about stress in your life, relationship difficulties, regrets, and challenges. I consider it an honor to sit with clients, hear your story, and help you realize your inner-strengths.

Self-improvement. Relationship issues. Anxiety. Unhelpful thoughts or behaviors. These are some of the concerns that bring people, just like you, to my counseling practice. I value and work with the strengths, imperfections, gifts, genetics, history and humanity of each person or family, as these aspects inform and shape who we are. I support clients in identifying a values-based direction for positive change and explore both what motivates change and the barriers that are getting in the way. Together, we create a road map to a healthier life for you or your family.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
