It is my belief that loss, trauma, depression, and/or addiction often clouds our resiliency and wisdom.
Welcome and congratulations on taking the first step so that life may get different for you. The beauty and benefits of re-examining how we can make changes in our lives, continues to fuel my passion for therapeutic dialogue. The integrative nature of my work allows for us to look at family of origin explanations, without blaming, so that you can move toward change. When what feels like roadblocks comes up there are a number of tools that can help, like increasing mindfulness and learning more around boundaries and assertive communication.

My experience as a counselor has equipped me to work with individuals, couples and families with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, codependency, trauma, and relationship issues.
I believe that therapy is about mining for an enlivened authenticity while reorienting one’s relationship to suffering. In successful therapy, the therapist is providing for the client a relationship unlike any the client has had before, where difficult - and often vulnerable - conversations are fostered within a safe container. From this is born new and more adaptive coping strategies, ways to move through conflict and pain, and recurring invitations to return to the present moment - with compassion.

Pain is the best teacher, but often it can be difficult to understand what emotional pain is trying to speak. It may be trying to get your attention through an unwanted behavior, an unbearable feeling, or an unbreakable thought pattern. It may show itself in repeated relational dysfunction, addiction, or disturbances in mood or sleep. I find I work well with people who are exhausted from trying to manage or control emotional pain, and are ready to face it holistically and head-on. I also help people suffering from complicated and acute psychological problems which have not responded well to other therapy treatments.

Areas of Specialization: - Individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, gender-based violence, and other challenges who may seek to (re)build trust with friends, family and romantic relationships; decrease negative effects of compulsive activities; and identify and work towards goals in a safe space.
David decided to become a therapist after living and working in low-income communities throughout his life and witnessing the startling lack of mental health services for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities. David engages adult clients using warmth, humor, collaboration, and non-judgement to get to know each person as an individual and grow a strong therapeutic relationship. David supports clients as they gain insight, process trauma, and work to build healthier patterns, self- worth, communication, and relationships in their lives.

I've had the privilege of assisting clients with managing complicated mental health concerns like harm reduction, addiction, anxiety, depression, and other challenging hardships.
Are you an introvert? How about a busy parent with no time to set aside for hour-long sessions? Or do you dread face-to-face interaction when working through life's challenges? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, I invite you to schedule an appointment. My goal as a therapist is to create safe spaces for all my clients, tailored to their unique needs and preferences. The first session is video to meet each other per Washington State requirements and after that you can do text, video or no video sessions. When you send a message, let me know what your preferred method is.

I tend to work with folks on relationship issues, gender transitions, long term trauma, managing mental health diagnoses (like biploar) and substance use issues. My official training is in psychodynamic relational therapy, which is a depth-orientated way of working.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, LGBT issues, professional and personal identity, transition, relationship issues, substance abuse, veterans issues, and grief and loss.
During our lives, we encounter experiences that can move us away from a direct connection to ourselves. Influences from family, friends, peers, jobs, and the greater culture can affect how we view and express ourselves. We can become conditioned to thinking, feeling and behaving in a way that is incompatible with who we really are and what we want in our lives. This compromises our ability to value our unique identity and to express and apply ourselves, and our strengths. I will help you to identify, understand and remove barriers that are keeping you from realizing your fullest potential. I offer Telehealth only in California.

I have extensive experience helping navigate issues in Parenting, Relationship Challenges, Relational Trauma, Substance Use, Chronic Illness/Pain in the individual and family, Mood Disorders, and Acute/Complex Trauma/PTSD.
The goals of therapy are directed toward providing a positive and collaborative forum to ease presenting difficulties; and draw on the individual's strengths and resilience to enable greater contentment and satisfaction in life. The foundation from which I view issues is from a systems approach. Thus, my focus is on the relational context that each individual resides within. Additionally, I borrow ideas from Attachment , Emotionally Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral, and EMDR constructs when tailoring goals developed for each person's unique needs.

I also work with individuals who struggle with relationship issues due to anger, domestic violence, or sexual addiction.
I work with those who struggle with anger. Often times the anger is brought on by unmet expectations and merely a symptom of deeper issues under the surface. It's my job to metaphorically stand in a place you can not see, and point you in the right direction as to the cause of what is contributing to the anger. By doing so, you can receive insight that will enrich your life and change it for the better.
