I am trained in clinical hypnosis, somatic psychotherapy, and ego state therapy as well as other trauma-informed modalities.
Most of the folks I work with have experienced relational trauma (abuse/neglect), dysfunctional family systems, and/or social marginalization. Our brains and nervous systems are incredibly resilient and creative in adapting to these challenges. Ironically, sometimes the very adaptations that once helped us survive keep us stuck in painful patterns. My clients often struggle with chronic anxiety, panic attacks, overwhelming emotions, or numbness and disconnection. They may feel intense self-doubt or internal criticism. They may long for close connections but also feel terrified of relationships.

I utilize a compassionate lens and combine parts work, somatic and experiential practices, Brainspotting, and emotionally-focused modalities into my work with clients based on individual needs.
I am a daughter of Lao refugees, born and raised in Tennessee. I love working with clients who are wanting to process through their trauma, in the midst of life transitions, experiencing anxiety and/or depression, and wrestling with aspects of their identity. Throughout life, I have learned that every human has a unique story; having a longing to be understood, accepted, and seen and continue to learn the importance of understanding all the different parts that make up my clients’ lives. It’s my desire that I create a safe space for you to bring and be all of who you are on your unique journey of healing and discovery.

I utilize somatic based interventions to help you develop self-compassion and expand your ability to find calmness, joy, and meaning in the present moment.
Does it sometimes feel like you’re stuck in the darkness and it’s hard to see where to go next? Do you want to increase a sense of lightness and connectedness in your life and relationships? If so, therapy can be a safe harbor from which to slow down and cast a light in your internal life and experiences and, within yourself, find ways to live a more fulfilling life. I have helped individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, life transitions and relational issues live life more fully after difficult experiences. I believe in each person's capacity to find the way to a brighter and more meaningful life.

“A flower is not better when it blooms than when it is merely a bud; at each stage it is the same thing — a flower in the process of expressing its potential.” If you are struggling with unresolved trauma, changing life circumstances, or desiring a life that feels more real, I can help you step more fully into a life that you want. While we all come into this world open and innocent, we get hurt along the way, and we pick up patterns and beliefs that keep us stuck in painful cycles. With a holistic and somatic approach, I can be your companion and guide in helping you to unravel these cycles and (re)discover your innate wholeness.

I use an integrative, multicultural, trauma-informed approach that is mainly based on, but not exclusive to, person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and somatic techniques.
I seek to destigmatize mental healthcare for all populations and provide a safe space where my clients feel seen and heard to navigate their relationships with themselves and others. As a South Asian American and daughter of immigrants, I have first hand experience of the deep effects that family of origin and cultural conflicts have on your lived experiences. I provide support for my clients in being their authentic selves and help them develop the skills they need to thrive. I want my clients to have an empathetic space to explore their challenges, process their thoughts and emotions, and experience healing.

My modalities integrate somatic, trauma-informed, evidence-based practices of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
I am deeply passionate about helping you work toward autonomy over your life, relationships, health, and goals. This looks different for everyone (as it should), but, for many, a starting point is forming a connection with your body; embodiment is absolutely possible for every body size and experience. We cannot exist without our bodies! I understand how co-occurring issues with food, body image, media, shame, and perfectionism can create feelings of disconnection, dissociation, and lack of control. I also work heavily within the music industry to help creatives build identity while setting goals and boundaries along the way!

I draw from traditional therapeutic modalities, as well as somatic and mindfulness based practices to best help individuals align and integrate their minds, bodies, and spirits.
Part of the reason I was drawn to this profession is because therapy has been an invaluable tool in my own life. Being a human is hard work and none of us get it out of it unscathed. I believe that we could all benefit from having an opportunity and a space to put words to our fears, doubts, emotions, and beliefs and to help us gain clarity on what is serving us and what is holding us back.

I often integrate parts work, somatic awareness, and nonviolent communication skill-building into my work, though am passionate about finding the best fit in approach for each client who sees me.
As you grew up and made your way through the world, you may have found yourself disconnected. You may have been told that who you are wasn't okay and needed to be changed to be acceptable. You may have found that your relationships don't feel as satisfying as you hoped they would be. You may, as a result, find yourself with that constant nagging feeling that no matter what, you're somehow too much and not enough all at the same time. As your therapist, I want to get you back in touch with who you are so you can live more authentically into your values, identity, and desires.

I am a Certified EMDR Therapist, and use a somatic and attachment approach.
Therapy should be a comfortable, non-judgmental space where you are free to bring all of your thoughts and feelings, even those parts we all have that feel awkward or uncomfortable. If you are ready to heal from past trauma, feeling stuck in relationships or creatively, or just trying to figure out what comes next in your life, we can go at a pace that feels right for you. Often people who have been through hard things have found ways to cope and survive that no longer feel helpful. Therapy is a place to connect with coping strategies, self-care practices, and relationship dynamics that feel personally fulfilling and sustainable.

Our approach is based in attachment theory, IFS/parts, somatic therapy, EMDR, and Brainspotting.

At this point, you may even have a laundry list of diagnoses - Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, Autism, disordered eating - but you struggle to find success through traditional therapy. If this is you, we need to chat!

I incorporate traditional supportive therapy, somatic work (such as EMDR and movement therapy), parts work, archetypal work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), active meditation, and ecotherapy.
I find many individuals reaching out with depression, anxiety, grief, and family of origin issues in addition to a specialized population of creative clients, those going through significant life transitions, LGBTQA clients, and individuals reconstructing their beliefs and sense of self from unhealthy family systems and harmful religious/spiritual beliefs. I work with adult individuals, couples, and groups.  In addition, I offer uniquely tailored intensives and ecotherapy sessions and healing religious trauma groups for clients desiring an alternative to traditional, office based talk therapy.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
