I want to be a companion for clients walking through various issues and help them understand more about themselves, their relationships, and the world around them by the end of the session. I have experience of being part of an adoptive family and have a specific burden to work with adopted children and the siblings and parents of those children. I enjoy having conversations about faith and if a client should request this, it can be included in each session to the client’s level of comfort.

I believe that knowing the truth about ourselves, others, and the world can free us to live fully and be our healthiest selves. Through an open and trusting relationship with a therapist, people can feel safe to be real, be known, and be understood. From that place of understanding we can work together to help you align the truth with your life to reach your goals. I approach clients with intentionality and empathy and view us as a team, and I believe that together we can make progress towards any goal.

I'm both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Special Education Intervention Specialist. I've been teaching in the K-12 public system for 23 years, which gives me a unique perspective when addressing concerns around behaviors and mental health for families as well as teachers/administrators. By aligning with you and/or your family - not as a director, but as a partner, collaborator and coach - we can work as a team to develop an effective strategy to address issues with behavior, academics, relationships, identity, work stress, professional issues, and family conflicts.

How would it feel to be able to take control over your depression & anxiety symptoms? To have healthier self esteem.
Do you feel worthless, not good enough and insecure? To everyone else you may appear happy & have yourself together. If they only knew how much strength it is taking for you to put a smile on your face each day. You look in the mirror & think you don’t deserve happiness, because all you are used to is disappointment & pain. You experience a sharp tightness in your chest & it feels like a ton of bricks weighing you down. Your mind seems cloudy due to your thoughts racing, screaming at you that you’re not good enough. You blame yourself for your past & feel you deserved being hurt. You don't feel beautiful and fear steps in your way.

Reaching out for counseling can be scary or intimidating. It can also be challenging to find the right "fit" with a therapist. I hope to offer a place where clients can feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Seeking counseling can help you make sense of your past, present, and your future. If you are feeling down, anxious, lost, or just off and your current coping skills aren't working, starting therapy might be a good next step.

As an inclusive gender affirming therapist in Ohio, I help clients who are experiencing gender dysphoria, anxiety, self-criticism and shame, who are wanting to challenge their inner critic, deconstruct shame, and show compassion toward every part of themselves. I've witnessed the pain that shame causes, as well as the healing power of strengthening self-compassion and developing shame resilience. There are many different reasons we experience shame, but it leads to feelings of worthlessness, low self-esteem, fear of vulnerability, anxiety, and countless other difficult emotions. If any of these resonated with you, you are not alone.

Hello and welcome! I enjoy working with women, college students, survivors of trauma, folks on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and anyone facing stress around anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, boundary setting and relationship concerns. I specialize in working with ages 18-40. I value authenticity and transparency and believe the relationship in therapy is the key element to a powerful experience. We get more from therapy when we are open. Often, we are not getting our needs met out of fear or avoidance, and therapy is a great way to practice embodiment, taking space and being present as your authentic self.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
