By utilizing these types of therapy we will discuss tools to overcome negative self-talk, life transitions, relationship issues, and imposter syndrome, as well as, achieve an increased understanding of feelings, emotions, relationships, communication, and self-worth.
Are you finding it difficult to cope with your overthinking, negative feelings, and anxious thoughts? Do your negative feelings associate with your appearance, self-worth, or accomplishments? Does it sound like “I’m not good enough, I will never succeed, I’ll always be alone, I hate the way I look, No one cares about me”? Do your anxious thoughts manifest in difficulty sleeping, working, or socializing? Do you feel you need a place for someone to hear you, see you, and validate your experience? Would you like to acquire coping skills for anxiety regarding your relationships, your career, or communication?

I specialize in addressing life and career transitions, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief.
As a licensed clinical psychologist and certified psychoanalyst, I facilitate my clients' efforts toward self-reflection, help them gain a clearer understanding of their life experiences, and bring awareness to their patterns of relating. Although I am also trained in CBT, my orientation is primarily psychodynamic; it promotes self-exploration and insight, along with productive behavior change. I take an active and engaged role with my clients by asking questions, offering alternative perspectives, and suggesting new ways of thinking about issues that may be getting in the way of living a more satisfying life.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, relationship stress, and body image concerns.
With warmth, empathy and often humor, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel free to explore the past, engage fully in the present and create the future that you envision for yourself. I will meet you where you are on your journey with sensitivity to your unique lived experience, as well as foster a therapeutic relationship that is both interactive and collaborative. Together, we can identify patterns of thinking and behavior that may not be serving you while developing concrete skills that will bring you closer to achieving your goals and help you connect more deeply to your authentic self and others.

I believe that once the therapeutic relationship has been built, space is created that allows for learning, understanding, and long-lasting positive change.
Understanding the value that therapy can bring to a person’s health and wellbeing, I strive to provide a safe space for everyone who enters my office. I have experience working with a diverse population providing individual, couples and family therapy. Although I may be an expert in the field, I know my clients are experts in their own lives. By working together, I hope changes can be made and for their goals to be reached.

Adults contending with hopelessness, identity, relationship issues, loneliness, body image, and family conflict.
We all have the ability to heal from our pain. I am committed to reducing suffering and fostering hope. Studies confirm the most positive outcome from therapy is based on the strength of the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create an empathic, safe, honest and collaborative environment where you are supported and deeply understood. I have successfully treated depression, anxiety, trauma, complicated grief, PTSD, dual diagnosis, and a broad spectrum of disorders. I believe part of this success is my focus on you as a person - not solely on the issue or disorder. It is possible to lead a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

You may have wondered whether therapy could be helpful to you. I offer a complimentary consultation to discuss any questions you may have. You can talk to me about anything; nothing you tell me will shock or surprise me. I can help you work through your difficulties and also help you become your own therapist by learning how to better deal with challenges that come up in life. I work well with clients struggling with anxiety, OCD, panic, depression, relationship, eating and body image, and addiction issues. Clients often see reduction in symptoms and improved well being early on in therapy.

All relationship forms and sexual orientations welcome.
Sometimes in life we feel disconnected from ourselves and the people we love most. We feel a strong desire for change whether we know exactly what that change is yet or not. At times that change is forced upon us due to a loss of some kind in which we find ourselves grieving and in pain. Or the change we want feels unacceptable and risky. As a therapist, I believe in the transformative power of change. I believe we all possess internal wisdom and the ability to change in ways that are needed and desired. I am also aware that change can be scary and feel impossible at times.

I believe authentic relationships are the key to authentic healing. We all have experienced pain, struggles, or difficult transitions in our lives, but we have not always had the opportunity to reflect, heal, and learn from these moments within the context of a close and safe environment. I believe that a collaborative and therapeutic relationship can be a life-changing experience as it helps you process current and past pains, become more self-aware, develop more meaningful relationships, and experience thriving in your life.

I've been a practicing psychotherapist in the New York City metropolitan area for over 25 years. Most of my clients are adults with relationship problems, work issues, anxiety or depression. Some have histories of trauma. My approach to therapy is generally a psychodynamic one with a focus on the here and now. I also use mindfulness, hypnosis, ego state therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy as tools in treatment. I have found that this eclectic approach is helpful to clients as one size does not fit all.

I aim to create a space that promotes healing through building understanding, empathy and improved communication within your relationship.
I believe that taking the first step towards therapy is an act of courage. Sometimes it's easy to 'know' on some level that something about your life isn't working, but breaking out of an unhealthy pattern is the hard part. I aim to create a warm and nonjudgmental space to allow you to examine what is causing you to feel stuck, and challenge you to show up differently. Sessions can help you feel less anxious, and more confident and clear, as you learn how to better manage day to day challenges and feel more connected within your relationships, to self and others.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
