My approach to counseling places an emphasis on the relationship between the client and therapist for the promotion of growth.
I work with individuals dealing with life transitions, medical related issues, mood and affective disorders, and marriage, parenting or family issues. I use a narrative and solution focused approach to collaboratively work with clients to identify successful solutions to problems and how these strengths can be implemented in future situations. I utilize empirically supported techniques that focus on the ways in which individuals think about and respond to events. These interventions allow clients to restructure their thinking, process events and modify behaviors in more adaptive ways.

It’s okay to ask for what you need. This is something I need to remind myself of on a daily basis. So many of us focus intently on making sure everyone else is taken care of and we completely abandon ourselves and ignore our own needs. This leaves us feeling exhausted, depleted, and quite frankly, resentful because we think to ourselves “why isn’t anyone taking care of me?” I teach my clients what a healthy relationship looks like because if this wasn’t modeled to you at some point throughout your life, no one can expect you to know what it means.

You've experienced a lot of success, but you're feeling discontent. Perhaps your relationship isn't working. You question whether there is something wrong with you. You've tried to change some things, but feel stuck. You're losing hope that change can happen. You're ashamed and wonder why you haven't figured it out. After all, you've managed on your own up to now; even calling your own shots. You want a trusted confidential atmosphere where you can learn to experience lasting joy again...You have a place to go; you can stop waiting.

Are you feeling stuck repeating the same cycle over and over again? Are your usual ways of handling stress not working anymore? Are you struggling in your relationship with your partner, family, or friends? Maybe you know something needs to change but you are feeling powerless to make that change. At some point we all encounter difficulties in our life and feel unsure of our next steps. This is common but can feel lonely and isolating.

Common reasons people call for services include adjustment problems, anxiety and worrying, behavioral problems, depression or sadness, divorce, impulse/attention problems, loss issues, parenting difficulties, and relationship or school problems.
Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If you are looking for things to change and are willing to work with me, things can get better. So many clients enter therapy with apprehension and a lack of hope for things to improve. I focus my practice on creating trust and getting my clients back on track as quickly and as comfortably as possible. Therapy begins with an end in mind and you and I would work together to make sure we are always making progress towards goals.

Call for an appointment if you struggle with ADHD, anxiety, chronic illness, surgery preparation, prenatal or postpartum depression, relationship challenges, stress management, life skills, life transitions, insomnia, or want to create a healthier lifestyle. I blend Eastern philosophy with Western psychology in my holistic practice. If you have tried traditional therapy and have not found relief, I'd love the opportunity to help you become the best version of yourself. I regret to inform potential clients that I have been and continue to be on medical leave. I will update you when I can practice again. Thanks

While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
