I offer several services that include assessment, treatment planning, recovery support and case management in addition to counseling. My goal is to do whatever it takes to give you or your loved one the best chance for lasting recovery and improve well being of the whole person. The treatment methodologies utilized are time-tested and have consistently proven successful. I understand that the causes of addiction and mental health are complex and often multifaceted; I am here to guide those we serve and their families every step of the way.

I have 16 years of experience as a mental health and substance abuse therapist. My interventions are adjusted to meet the needs and goals of the individual. My clients have reported tangible results.

I am an experienced counselor utilizing different therapy modalities tailored to the needs of each individual client. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy and strive to empower my clients to participate fully in their therapeutic experience. I use a client centered approach with an emphasis on building strong therapeutic relationships with each client in order to better identify and implement individual treatment needs. I am also a trauma-focused therapist and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I believe that all individuals will encounter a time in their lives when they will be facing some form of hardship, conflict, or distress. The ability for someone to recognize that they cannot go it alone and need a partner to assist them in navigating life situations is where I come into play. I believe that individuals can make the changes necessary in their lives with the proper supports and skills provided through counseling. Individuals who are ready to put in the work needed to navigate this life are the ones who will succeed.

Much like the seasons, transitions and change are a natural progression of life, potentially stirring up a great amount of distress in our lives, leaving us feeling alone, overwhelmed, and unsettled as our hopes, dreams and relationships can change. Maneuvering through these chapters can be a daunting process, as they are influenced, and so seen through the lens of our past experiences. I aim at being able to walk with you through this tumultuous time, and beyond this stage of your life, helping to unravel some of the painful patterns that negatively impact your relationships.

I work exclusively on Zoom with adults and couples anywhere in Missouri or Kansas, most especially with clients working on grief and loss, including loss from death, divorce, miscarriage, stillbirth, or other more ambiguous losses. My practice is welcoming to survivors of loved ones who have completed suicide. I work with clients with depression, or those with anxiety and panic from driving fears. I like working with clients with behavioral addictions, especially shoplifting, as well as clients wanting to address their substance addictions, especially with alcohol or marijuana.

I'm a licensed clinical social worker with 15+ years of experience. I work with many individuals who are incredibly resourceful, able to embrace change, and have strong emotional intelligence. Even with these overarching strengths, it can still be tough to navigate the complexities of life at times. This is where I can help. I build on your individual strengths and work with you to establish a plan and make real progress.

This blueprint provides insights into your attachment and relational experiences, lifeline, developmental ruptures, protective factors, and intergenerational influences affecting your mental health.

My ideal client is someone who wants to address the issues that they are struggling with in an empathetic and validating environment. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, or a host of other issues, and they know that when they come to my office they will be working with someone who truly wants to help them. Ideally, their goals would be related to things that they truly care about and want to improve in their lives. My ideal clients wants to find peace within the chaos that everyday life sometimes presents.

Sam is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Licensure Supervisor in the state of Missouri. She has a decade of experience in community mental health working in and leading a vast array of programming. Sam has also created and overseen prevention programming targeting at-risk youth. Throughout her career, Sam has treated individuals of all ages, specializing in children and adolescents. As a counselor, Sam engages in a client-centered approach with utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing techniques.

Trauma's not always what we think it is. It’s not always something big like an accident or loss of a loved one. More often it’s something that happens too soon or too different from what the person has experienced before, causing overload and shutdown in the system. Moving through life without being able to find resolution or make sense of it leaves the body feeling as though that overwhelming event is still happening. Without adequate support, the survivor feels trapped and like something is wrong with them. It's not you. Whatever happened, you can overcome it. A trusting relationship is often the first step toward healing.

I have a passion for helping children, teens, and young adults learn how to express and manage their emotions in healthier ways. I work with a variety of concerns ranging from young children with big emotions to high achieving teenagers who experience anxiety about perfectionism and performance. I strive to provide personalized and individualized care to my clients. I operate from the perspective that the client is the expert in their life; I am here to serve as their guide, providing them with support and teaching new ways to build capacity for life's challenges.
