I'm kink- and poly-aware and affirming, and I work with individuals or partners of all identities who seek to heal, understand, and improve their relationship with sex.
I love helping clients to connect with their authentic selves and strengthen their relationships. I work from a framework that explores the ways that early experiences can shape current patterns of relating. My work is also guided by the understanding that many clients' difficulties are impacted by systems of oppression such as racism, transphobia, homophobia, and gender discrimination. Most importantly, this space centers on you and what you're bringing into it; I'm not here to judge, criticize, or fix you, but instead support you in learning about your own internal world.

As a Certified Sex Therapist, I am specialized in working with sexual dysfunction.
How are you looking to grow, change, or expand your awareness of yourself and your relationships? My work is to support and challenge; providing you with space to explore your self and connections to others, understand the story you create around your experience, and recognize patterns in your life from a foundation of support. Together, we investigate the ways you relate to others, the ties in your history that inform where you are now, and how we can facilitate healing from pain-whether that pain looks like depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual dysfunction, or discomfort in your relationships.

I specialize in sex therapy, trauma work, identity exploration and affirmation, and development of self-worth.
Sometimes we get so busy with the stress and fast-paced movement of daily life that when we finally come up for air, we realize we're living a life out of sync with our own wants and needs. We may have normalized parts of our lives we dislike, and now feel unsure or unworthy of who we are or what we want. Therapy is a process in which we work together to create space for you to slow down and unpack all of the beliefs, burdens, expectations, identities, fears, and hopes you hold; to assess what works and let go of what no longer serves you, to review who you've been and cultivate the person you want to be.

Where does sexual intimacy fit into a loving relationship? As a certified AASECT sex therapist I help couples to see that sexual satisfaction is not an optional but rather is an essential component of a long term happy marriage.
Although the desire for romantic intimacy is perfectly natural, long term intimate relationships are rarely naturally perfect. For over 30 years I have dedicated my professional life to helping individuals and couples fine tune their not-always naturally perfect relationships. Although I am a clinical psychologist who continues to treat individuals suffering from the full spectrum of psychological disorders, most of my career has been devoted to working with individuals and couples experiencing marital, relationship, and/or sexual concerns; to assisting couples seeking relief from the trauma of infidelity; and to treating individuals suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder or anger control issues.

I hold a PhD in Human Sexuality and I am a Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor through AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists).
Finding a place we can trust to tell our stories is essential to finding a path to healing, recovery, and transformation. Therefore, it is essential to find someone that can help you reach your potential to transform your life. We all are born with an innate capacity to develop healthy lives. However, sometimes life experiences such as hurts and traumas can interfere with our development and we may become unhappy or unsatisfied with our lives and adopt self-defeating thinking and behavioral patterns.

I am a psychoanalyst & sex therapist comfortable working with kinks, non-traditional relationships, and poly people (including couples where one person is gung-ho and the partner is oh-no).
Modern relationships are HARD. It’s a struggle to find the right person OR to wonder if your current partner is possibly the wrong person. It’s tough when you feel burned by or totally confused about your path. Maybe you’ve even made choices or overlooked things you now regret. Or, maybe it’s a relationship with a boss or coworkers who undervalue you or play favorites with others. Your work ethic and good ideas have long taken a backseat to putting out fires or just avoiding things way more than you should. You’re past thinking that life’s fair. But, you never thought that things could go THIS wrong or get under your skin THIS much.

Sex Therapy

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
