Therapy is a deeply rewarding experience. It is also a deeply personal and often challenging journey that involves being vulnerable. While challenging at times, the potential rewards from engaging in therapy make the choice to engage worthwhile. As I continue to grow in this helping profession, I have come to specialize in working with people around trauma, identity development, anxiety, boundaries, mindfulness, and negative thinking. I am also passionate about helping individuals build self-esteem and identify unhealthy behaviors/patterns. If anything on my profile resonates with you, I invite you to check out my webpage for more!

Maybe you are feeling low self esteem, or "stuck".
Seeking therapy takes courage. Many life events have led you to consider such a step, and I am already on your side. I actually see my clients as healthier for choosing therapy than others who may have chosen to avoid it. The most important single factor in the client-therapist connection is the right fit. I have 25+ years of private practice experience working with people to overcome obstacles to feeling good about themselves and their relationships. My style is empathic, warm and direct.

There are times when we feel alone in our attempt to deal with emotions that have taken control over our ability to live a quality life. Depression, anxiety, stress, loss, sadness, gender issues/identity, self-esteem, life transitions, traumas, and an array of other challenges can leave an individual feeling alone, hopeless, and emotionally paralyzed. The strength of building the right therapeutic relationship and the importance of acceptance without judgment in a safe space is paramount to mental wellness. I am here to be a guide and walk alongside you as we move closer to the life that you have envisioned.

If you’re struggling with feelings of self-doubt, anxiety, depression, feeling lost with your direction in life/career, or struggling with disordered eating, you have come to the right place. During our sessions, we will be doing values based work, along with CBT to explore if you are living a life in alignment with your core values. I challenge clients on their thoughts and actions to encourage them to be the best versions of themselves. I use approaches that emphasize growth and resilience. I believe strongly in embracing discomfort. I believe that in discomfort, there is growth; and with growth, comes change.

As a Southside native, I love working with the communities that have shaped me and given me so much. I am aware of how our decisions can affect our entire family system and therefore, using a culturally sensitive approach, we will work together to find solutions and set goals based on what is important to you. I am especially passionate about helping clients build their self-esteem and challenge those negative thoughts that can make our day-to-day seem so much more difficult. I enjoy working with teens and adults of all genders, but I specialize in helping women overcome emotional, relational, and societal barriers.

I take a deepening approach towards therapy as to explore your inner world and how it has been shaped by your early relationships and experiences. Through self-understanding, I believe you can release ties to long-standing conflicts and position yourself towards experiences that are personally meaningful and fulfilling.

The ideal client is prepared for a new journey and experience.
Clients who work with me soon realize that their strength and freedom comes from within. They feel liberated from their emotional constrains and fears. Through therapy, my clients discover that "They" are the creators and drivers of their own lives. They experience emotional freedom that, in turn brings more balance in their lives. Clients achieve stress relief, improve their self-esteem and self-concept, and experience increased levels of satisfaction in their relationships. They experience an increased ability to work out conflicts in a constructive way.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
