On Wednesday, July 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Washington DC time), we will meet in the webinar "Vaccination Coverage 2023: Results in the Region of the Americas", organized by the Special Program Comprehensive Immunization (CIM).

 Context

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem. In 2022, WHO estimates that there will be 325 000 cases of TB in the Region, of which only 242 000 have been reported, leaving a significant diagnostic gap of 83 000 people with TB who do not have access to timely diagnosis and treatment.

 Context

HIV testing services are a unique opportunity for people diagnosed with HIV infection to start treatment quickly to regain their health. They also identify people at higher risk of contracting HIV and provide immediate access to the effective package of recommended prevention services.

Cryptococcosis is a disease that imposes a significant burden on HIV patients in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a prevalence of approximately 10% in individuals with advanced disease and a high mortality rate of between 15% and 25%. It is estimated that about 5300 cases occur in the region per year.
