Sophia Lanman

I am the last step in the show creation process, making final tweaks and technical polishes to provide the best possible listening experience for our audience. I work on shows such as “The Run-Up,” “Modern Love” and “The Culture Desk.” I also provide technical support and create music for podcasts across the newsroom.

My background is in music and audio production. Before joining the Times, I mixed and composed music for various brands and publishers, including Spotify, Vox and The Wall Street Journal. I studied music and audio engineering at McGill University.

While I am not involved in editorial decisions related to the content of our shows, I uphold The Times’s standards as outlined in our Ethical Journalism Handbook and work to support my colleagues’ editorial vision.
