My work focuses on how we live online, from the latest TikTok trends to profiles of influencers. In our increasingly digital world, internet culture can contain almost any subject which means I have the joy of getting to delve into a broad range of topics both serious and silly.
I joined The Times in 2022. Previously, I hosted “ICYMI,” a podcast about digital culture for Slate and spent five years writing about the internet for New York Magazine. My work has also appeared in The Cut, Vulture, Grub Street, Intelligencer, Curbed, Insider, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. I am a graduate of Hamilton College and hail from upstate New York. (Which is not the same as the Hudson Valley.)
I approach all of my stories impartially and with an eagerness to report the truth. I speak personally with all of my sources or, in the occasional event of a text or email interview, am sure to disclose this information to my readers. Like all Times journalists, I am committed to upholding the standards of integrity outlined in our Ethical Journalism Handbook. I do not accept gifts, trips or other forms of currency in exchange for coverage. Please, please do not send gifts, they will go to waste. I do not invest in any of the companies we cover. I reveal any relationships I have with sources in my journalism, and do not cover people or companies I have personal connections to.
