How did PowSocx get its start and who is the company’s target customer? 

A: PowSocx are high-performance, baselayer liner socks for skiers, snowboarders, and winter sports enthusiasts. PowSocx is a sub-brand of our parent company, HocSocx. HocSocx is a women-founded, family-owned business that was started in 2012 by my mother, Debbie Lefkowitz, who created HocSocx during my sister’s time as a field hockey player, to wear underneath her shin guards as a liner sock to prevent rubs and rashes on the skin. As the business began to grow and gain popularity within the world of field hockey, customers reached out and informed us that they used HocSocx not just for field hockey, but for skiing and riding as well.

The grand realization was that their feet and toes stayed warm despite the cold conditions due to the thin, yet durable properties of our socks, along with helping to fight blisters from their boots. We decided to create a sub-brand, PowSocx, to directly cater to the winter sports industry. Our target customer is anyone involved in outdoor winter sports and those that are seeking an alternative to traditional wool socks that are often bulky in ski boots.

Why did you join NSSRA? How can a retailer benefit from carrying PowSocx?

A: We joined NSSRA to introduce PowSocx to retailers and continue our push into the winter sports industry. We believe the benefits PowSocx offers to skiers and riders will truly redesign the winter sports experience by allowing athletes more time on the mountain and less time worrying about cold feet and toes. Retailers can benefit from carrying PowSocx due to excellent sales margins as well as providing their customers and winter sports enthusiasts with a game-changing, baselayer liner sock for skiing, snowboarding, and winter activities that are unlike any other product on the market.

What is the elevator pitch to a customer? How does PowSocx keep feet dry and warm? Are they just a thin sock? Are PowSocx meant as a base layer or can they be worn solely by themselves? What do they feel like in a boot?

A: PowSocx are high-performance baselayer liner socks that offer very specific benefits. PowSocx provides a physical barrier that protects and prevents moisture overload and stops friction. Our special breathable fabric blend is designed specifically to protect feet, toes, and legs from getting cold while skiing or snowboarding, keeping moisture away from aggravated areas. They are exceptionally comfortable, offer support to key muscles, and for added comfort, the top wide band stays in place without binding.  They ensure a snug and comfortable fit that stays in place throughout the day, preventing any bunching down into the boot.
