Pedestrian dies days after he’s struck by car in N.J. intersection

A pedestrian hospitalized on life support after he was struck by a car in Elizabeth over the weekend died Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The man, whose name and age were not released, was struck about 2 p.m. Sunday by a car that was turning at Westfield Avenue and North Broad Street, according to a city spokeswoman.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital in Newark in critical condition and died early Tuesday afternoon.

No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
